I am making a flat-projection version, although I do not want it to simply be me rerendering this in Mollweide (the projection used in the other videos). The video will make tweaks to the coastlines. That version will run forwards in time and will not be labeled as these two videos are to be used in conjunction with one another.
Algol Can you extend to 4-5 billion years in the future? do it from 4.27 billion years ago stop from the present day and start again till 4-5 billion years in the future
@Fractal Mapping that is an impossible task. Predicting anything past 200-300 million years is not possible and if left alone, plate tectonics will stop altogether in 1 billions years.
I know, right? This feels like I'm watching the backwards history of Hollow Earth, or am a far-future citizen in a classroom in a Dyson Swarm habitat. :P
Ever since you released the first video. It opened up to me so much about the planet, nature and everything surrounding it. It's videos like this that have inspired me to come so far in my learning and within only a few years I have learned so much about Geography and History. Thank you for continuing to create such amazing masterpieces of video like these. It inspires me and i'm sure other people to keep learning everyday, in great amounts too. Thank you so much for everything you have done to never fail at making such educational videos, thank you.
Excellent work !! I am a Peruvian student of geology and I love Tectonics and Paleogeography, I am currently reading about the evolution of the Andes in the South American continent and your work helped me a lot to understand its evolution. Thank you very much!!
Specifically to make the 360 thing, RUclips has a metadata tool that lets you inject the required metadata to a video file to say that it's a VR video. Some video editing programs have the option built-in during rendering as well. Specifically to make this animation, GPlates.
Sources disagree on the placement of some of the blocks in Rodinia, particularly Siberia and the China blocks. Most, however, agree that Laurentia was the core of the continent and that the other landmasses were around it.
Something about Earth's supercontinents feels very refreshing. Like when I think about what It would be like living on Pangea or Gandwana, I think about early in the morning when you are watching the sunrise. I don't understand why I get that feeling, but it is very welcome.
That was really impressive algol, haha. I tried to watch the bits and peices of Europe the first time, but i'm gonna have to watch it quite a few times to see everything. Thanks for the upload!
This was clearly a great deal of work, so most importantly - thank you. Now for a truly unreasonable suggestion (I'm sure) - it would be great to see this on an interactive spinning globe with latitude and longitude. The flat-projection from 2020 is particularly well done. Super excellent work. Again thank you.
I love your videos, and I believe your channel will be bigger for every day that passes. I subscribed because I love your videos, and I’m so Happy that I found this channel. Greetings and respect from the north 🇩🇰
Very confusing but also very interesting LOL. I feel like watching motorcycles, cars, trucks, buses hitting each other. But instead of stop moving after collision, they keep moving LOL which is very diffent with traffic accidents. Oh and beautiful music btw
I literally sat in pure awe and peaceful wonder watching this using Google Cardboard Glasses. Stunning and magnificent. Thank you for giving such a beautiful experience! I will be sharing!
I dont have VR but this was awesome. I liked pausing it and dragging it around to see things, i liked the better detail and did not mind it was non flat and made to fit on one screen
Whoa, This must of taken a lot of time! Thanks for this quality video; been here since 2015. Finding videos like this is hard; I like to see the more theoretical ways of the continental drift. This is like every little landmass known!
Perth (Yilgarn) is the first land on Earth that appears. Western Australia & North of South Africa (Pilbara & Pretoria/Kaapvaal) are the first 2 lands on Earth that appears over water. 1:35 Britain and Ireland split clean in half. The Iapetus Ocean opening and the Aegir sea emerges. (Remember..time is running backwards in this animation..in reality the northern and southern parts of Britain and Ireland collided about 400 million years ago. The collision event can still be seen in the Iapetus Sutre on the Isle of Man.)
there's a strange feelling about going so far back in time, like its a scary feeling, but, relaxing at the same time, my brain cant really explain it but,... yeah...
Very nice video How about doing it from a POV of looking at the earth from space, just close enough to see the whole planet in detail and with an equator and a meridian line to orientate (and maybe mark the north and south pole)? Not sure if I'd prefer from modern times backwards or onwards from the beginning
Algol. One curious question. Where did you take the ancient ocean names (Nealbaran, Gyrosian, Lerovan, etc.) from? It can't seem to find any record of the said names. Did you came up with these?
I am making a flat-projection version, although I do not want it to simply be me rerendering this in Mollweide (the projection used in the other videos). The video will make tweaks to the coastlines. can you also make a flat projection of this one? (label it)
Excellent! Now in 2D or mapped onto a regular globe because this version made my brain hurt xD
@Victorbrine Cassini Not of this version though.
AND STARTING WITH THE HADEAN AND GOING FORWARD TO THE PRESENT!!!

Kind of interesting how the formation of Rodinia changes each time. Do sources disagree wildly on this or something?
Sources disagree on the placement of some of the blocks in Rodinia, particularly Siberia and the China blocks. Most, however, agree that Laurentia was the core of the continent and that the other landmasses were around it.
The farther back in time the more difficult it is to accrerately reconstruct plate tectonics of that era so some disagreement normal
