I live in Toronto. ... "I love snow, I love winter." .... That's EASY for a guy visiting briefly from LA LA LAND to say! ... It's Feb 17th and we're expecting almost another 2 FEET of snow tonight. ... Jesus Hal, you have NO IDEA!!! .... Canadian winters suck shit through a straw!

Thanks for the great info! There's a scene with you and Randy I remember....where it was so cold out I could see your face was frozen...the camera shot at some point went behind your head....my guess so you could ADR the dialogue. I'm not positive but it might have been the scene where Justin confronts Michael about telling Brian he's aware of Brian's cancer, and Justin asks "did he kick you out?"....
Thanks again for the behind the scenes details - love it!!

some of my most creative fantasies involve walking through 3 feet of snow...either before or after. Is that weird? I blame it on Conrad Aiken's Silent Snow Secret Snow. Dam those short story writers! I was a very impressionable Youth (said like Joe Pesci in My Cousin Vinnie.) Always great to hear you talk about Production. Thanks Hal.

Hal says at 1:13 that when shooting that it wasn't like it was winter..I DISAGREE!! there are a lot of episodes that used winter in the scenes..such as 1-16 Michael and David are building a snowman and later go ice skating outdoors with David's son. In epi-1-19 Brian takes Michael to go bow on the street and Michael says "come its cold" In epi 3-07 Ted wipes the snow off of Brian's windshield. In epi 3-11 Michael says to Ben (talking about Hunter) "Hes probably warmer than we are,I bet some rich sugar daddy has him wrapped in a cashmere comforter"..Later in that same epi Ben finds Hunter on the street and tries to give him a down coat to wear. In 5-11 at the vigil you can see its very cold, you can see everyone's breath, they have mittens on,scarves etc..My point is that a lot of the epis used the cold for that episode..now in the beginning of seasons 1 and 2 you can see that they were shot in the spring or summer such as 1-04..Justin is running away from his mother..or in season 2 epi 2-03 or pride in 2-04..

Hi Hal! Did the scrips give you a wider understanding or surprised you in any way of the issues the LGBT community face and still face today ?

Can't imagine walking in snow with almost nothing on. I can't even walk in snow with snow boot on. LOL
But then again, I'm probably alike or worse than your gf about this. Well, let's see.... it's 1AM and 82F right now. *sweat*

Lived College and Spadina area. A few blocks from Kensington Market. Toronto is a wonderful city to live in and so much to see and do.
I used to actually work a few blocks up from where you used to shoot on Church St. I was up towards Bloor.
Am now a West coast girl and must say...I do not miss the snow. Lived with it for almost 30 years. Now enjoy the Okanagan weather.
    Glad you enjoyed TO.
