I used to shop at Goodwill, too, until a couple of years ago when I discovered the Big Cheeses at GW make somewhere between $200 thousand and 1 million dollars per year (depending on what internet search you do). I also found out that employees with disabilities are often paid less than minimum wage (as low as 22 cents per hour), whistleblowers have been fired, and safety issues have led to tragedy. Is it any wonder the so-called employees don't want to be camera? Now my fave thrift store is The Humane Society Thrift Store, also the fave of all our town which voted it the Best Thrift Store - even against GW! We also have thrift stores for hospice, Teen Challenge, and other local charities. I try to be even more ETHICAL about where my little money goes.
I read the CEO makes 300,000 a year 😮 I also heard they were under paying the disabled. They got in trouble a few years back for not hiring the disabled.
That is horrible that People- who happen to have a disability, were being ripped-off. Worse is Salvation Army. They take the money they make from freely donated items and use those funds to pay lobbyists in D.C. to push Anti-LGBTQ+ Youth legislation. Don't give to bigots!~

Upholsteryfabric can be gotten at a fabric store online to replace the bonded crap it's not hard to reupholster a chair or a couch. Just take a video as you take off the junk and copy placement of all materials when doing the work in reverse.

I spend a ton of money ever year at goodwill for resale. I am sick and tired of the people from goodwill asking me if I resale. I tell them the truth and they always have a smart ass comment. I bet I help pay for their living which I’m glad I do but nobody off the street that’s homeless can afford these retail prices. I am about to do bins only! It’s getting out of control!
