So much history told but not even the tip of the iceberg❤️ K Star and Double M, Pitch Black, Willy Dollface and the Kabwata underground scene, Andy Boy and Familia, El Salim and Too Tuff, Bobby East, Eddie Black, Jedi, K.I.C.K.S and 428 Media, Brisky, Queen Sheba, Jay Cash, other producers like KB and Raydo, Christian Hip Hop, Yellow Dove, Jo-Z Jay, Pompi, DJs and promoters, Bloggers and websites…So much that I’m sure the team would have gone into if time and resources allowed. Thank you for the great work Sweden, Big Holstar and team🙏🏾 Please continue to tell these stories!
One thing that remains poor in Zambia is documentation of history and more so in the entertainment space. To see this piece of profound documentation of Hip-hop in our country is so refreshing and a beacon of hope. This is a solid masterpiece. Hope that more sectors can take a leaf out of this page to tell the stories of the many talents Zambia has had in the past, present and foreseeable future. Thanks for this SDR and big H! This is amazing.
zone fam winning the coverted channel o music award as underdoggs was such a pivotal moent in zed hi hop because now we started to believe in the genre, mondo music droping that compliation tape which eatured a little bit of hip hop showed it could be done locally..above all dope dope dope docie
@holster remember when I told you keep them kids close. Today I can say I was blessed to work with Dope G and Jay Roxxa aka Chicken Boy when parents said we were a bad influence on their kids.. ok
Great job on the documentation..Personally feel like @pompi should have been included in this documentary, his contribution to the Zambian gospel hip hop community and hip-hop culture as a whole shouldn't be underrated.
Before I even watch beyond the first few minutes - the number of times the link has been sent to me is early testimony that this is already bringing a smile to those who were part of it, on and off screen, behind the scenes and in spirit. So kudos. I hope we see many more across genres and age groups. Hip hop as a culture definitely impacted Zed. Old enough to recall when announcements were made and a special satellite broadcast introduced break dancing to the world. That was the impact. Global broadcast. Only other time that happened musically was later for MJ but hip hop arrived and the 80s kids in Zed experienced freedom of expression in forms everyone enjoyed. So well done. More of this.
Mmmmm anyway it's clear people want a Muzo documentary you do realize his story includes the same guys you say he gave Style to, how will it be told if you talk down to them?
This is really dope Documentary…, I’ve had so much to learn from this. It definitely needs a part 2 in recognition of the young kings that are killing it right now….!!! Let them feel celebrated that way they’ll definitely keep it alive 💯
As a young man who is trying to make it big in the industry and Hip-hop I've learnt a lot from this Documentary..We need more of this to know where our music is coming from 🙏🙏🙏
There was a show on Phoenix, like a count down, strictly Hip Hop. Can’t remember the DJ’s name DJ Butter or something. Thugga’s Gimme A Sign reigned the longest on no. 1. I’d religiously follow a show like that TO THIS DAY 😠! Thanks Holstar, again.
Good documentary. I feel Mc Suicide should have been mentioned more as one of the early MCs of the Zed hip-hop community. That aside, that was a good documentary.
@@SlamDunkRecordsTV the holster & rock beats than holster and poison hurts I got those from Zambia music blog but I can't seem to find the,but still of the city it my old time holster jam and my star holster & teck zilla. The holster is like talib kwali & 9th wonder when he makes music with a producer 💯
In terms of raw skill i don't think we have a lot of artists that even touch Shimasta on the mic....in my view has always been an underrated emcee. I geeked out seeing him in this documentary.
Man Zed Hip Hop has come a long way. I remember in high school when KRYTIC would come battle rap against Kapuka TR from the other side of the wire fence. Good times...
Great documentary I just wish more Ogs were in it you know Crisis ,TOMMY DEE, Ruff kid and a cameo by zone fam like all four of them because before the Sampa the greats these guys took Zambia ku Chalo……. I love the fact that the emphasis is on more lyrical content. Otherwise Zed hip hop is not dead
This is a great initiative. Very constructive and has highlighted the growth of hip hop in Zambia. But again i feel all this progress deserves those who equally make this whole process possible. I mean producers. I feel enough lime light and documentation or credits are not given. I mean without them the creative process of music would not be complete.
This is nice, i love this.. But am surprised nobody is acknowledging the fact that we are still struggling to push through, the majority of the Zambian audience favors dunka music over hip hop, if hip hop is to stand a chance of making it to 2030 in Zambia it needs more exposure as in hip hop shows, radios e.t.c
A key observation is that Zamragga and Zed hip hop had a strong synergy I mean ragga artists like Nasty D and Daddy Zemus influenced a lot of kids to rap instead that's something often overlooked, we are just one big community with a passion for the mic.
Dj Drex deserves to be in this documentary. First DJ to have a strictly hip hop show on radio, respect.
He absolutely does
I thought Ice 't he underground 'was.
@@AbdirahmanKhalif-ye7zl The Choice FM days? Was he playing Zed hip hop?
@@njavwa2886 I believe Ice did play Hip Hop for sure, but Drex show was the first to do an hour plus

Truth! Alot more stories to be told, more documentaries needed.

tear dropped from my eye right there
We need more of such documentaries in our entertainment space.
I agree

Thanks to Duncan and The Team. You should do more of these. Great One
No doubt!
Great work, just wish the #Kapuka Star Search episode was highlighted as well. It was a major win for hip-hop during that time.
More documentaries on the way
For real.
Shimasta intro 🔥💯🙏

Great stuff! Expected a notable mention of filling up Woodlands Stadium for hip hop
So much to learn! Thank y'all
Thank You Holstar!
It would have made more sense if people like Tommy, 5ive 4our, crisis Bryo, master flow, Holster spoke about the history of hip hop we need a part 2
Part 2 loading....
True, imagine Muzo is missing
Add Muzo aka Alphonso, Ruff Kid, Stevo
amazing work, have learned a lot from our history as a artist/producer from this.
Awesome, thanks
Hip hop to rock your block, wow. I remember featuring on that program with my group. It was called JSQ. Great days
