Some handy and important information regarding legally flying your drones. I personally didn’t know these rules existed. Thank you for keeping us all well informed. PS beautiful property for the filming of this video and love the bloopers at the end. 👍👍👍
Well; that depends on certain factors, including whether the use of the footage could be considered 'commercial', if on RUclips you are monetised...a bit of a 'grey area' (as government regulations and laws often are!). I did, just to be certain. Best check the CASA website closely (assuming that you are in Australia - other countries have their own laws), to satisfy yourself about that...Regardless; there are rules about at least getting an A.R.N. for the drone (currently still free); subject to the weight of the drone, so check on that aspect also. 😉 www.casa.gov.au/knowyourdrone/drone-rules
There isn't much value in a video that boils down to "check the website". Also, if a wind charm is interrupting filming, take it down or move somewhere else. Seems like you've got lots of amazing backdrops, you didn't have to pick that one.
Sorry you feel that way...I was trying to alert drone users of changes; website covers aspects that will apply to particular users, that can't be individually addressed in 1 video. PS: To help clarify for those that read my description area below the video; I outline the various circumstances where you do and don't need to register your drone. PPS: I usually like to add a bit of spontaneous humour to my videos, when the opportunity arises...Sorry that you didn't grasp those parts...
Hi Steve, you raised a number of interesting points, btw, nice Joe Biden impersonation ...... loved the exit, don't you wish sometimes we could just disappear like that in real life.
I asume it is for safety. Yet even though i think is cool and i dont want to sound like a Karen. But the Brisbane riverfire they fly the jets pretty close at high speed near buildings. Again i think looks cool but i do think very dangerous. Have not heard of any drone fatalities for recreation.
...I assume it's more of a revenue raiser for CASA, since until this video was made, owning and registering a drone was FREE; then all of a sudden: $40 per year! The fee has zero bearing on one's common-sense use of a drone...bit like driving licences; there are good drivers, and idiot drivers. Unrelated are drone pilots to RAAF pilots. No; I've never personally heard of fatalities caused by operating a drone, thankfully.
Sorry, I was out at our subscriber meetup today and couldn't reply earlier (I tried though). You should be alright, as currently, you only have to register a drone IF you fly them for business or as part of your job. Stay tuned to the CASA website for any changes though. www.casa.gov.au/drones/registration-and-flight-authorisations/register-your-drone
@@namanienie123...I'm surprised that they, as yet (in QLD at least) haven't banned replica pistols...'pop-guns' with corks, have been illegal for decades FFS
Exactly. A mate of mine predicted (as did I), when it was still free; that evetually they'd introduce a fee - As I said in my video - it could have been a lot less, rather than go from free to $40 per year! For drone users that do so commercially, it might be alright, but for me personally, who barely uses mine a few times per year as a 'flying camera'; it's a little steep for the amount of time I use it. It'd be NICE if at least we were sent out a drivers license sized card that we could simply carry in our wallet, but we get nothing, other than having to print out our own bit of paper that's supposed to be carried with us whenever we fly!
No; it started as FREE, then immediately went to $40 per year, PER drone! Bad planning on CASA's behalf I think - more people would follow their stipulations, if they made it something like $10 per year.

Absolutely! Which is why, for most legislation, proposed or passed - people need to be proactive and voice their opinions. I'm part of a few groups that do surveys / focus groups, and very often you can tell whose funding the studies (sometimes it's government) SO they an get the 'pulse' of a broad spectrum of the population. Sure can! _In REALITY_ , the chances of being caught flying without the currently required registration is small, but I just play it safe by forking out the money...rip-off as that IS, given we don't GET a damned THING in return! It'd be just my luck to get caught, if I didn't.
Under 250G (in Australia) doesn't require registration, _that's correct_ ; but this video is about using drones for recreation or business that weight more than 250 grams.
He went full Biden mode at the end there
😂...I TRIED!
GIve Steve a break, he's just trying to provide useful info
That's all I've ever tried to do, for coming up to 19 years on RUclips...if there's an opportunity to add a bit of a laugh for people, I do. 👍@@grmnj

Of course someone’s doing doing something illegal, it’s Australia, there’s a law for everything
That's right - 'the nanny state' (or country)

ALWAYS my favourite bits to show mate 😅😉👍🙂
Hi, can you please do an update video on the laws? Thanks.
There have been no further changes that I'm aware of, since I made this video. What aspects are you wanting to know?
Good day so if I buy a drone .I need to register for vlogging

Thank You for sharing this informative video, there is always something new to learn every day, take care and have a great weekend, cheers, Leo.
Yep; any day we can learn at least _something_ new, however small, is a day not wasted! Thanks for watching! 👌👍🙂

If I’m honest, some of the CASA rules are pretty shit stupid
Yep. Common-sense isn't common enough though unfortunately...

so instead of doing it for safety or something
instead its for money

civil disobedience.
The trouble is, as I've always said "commonsense ISN'T very common!"
