Thank You for this. My Grandparents’ wall clock is currently with me, and due to its age, I’ve been afraid to wind it. Such nice tones. It brings back fond memories from when I was very young.
I have a very similar clock, a ligeron I’m not sure what each of the three winders do I think the middle one is to actually run the clock and one may be for the chime is the trigger for the chime not sure which one
Hi! I just bought one and I am fascinated by how it works. I wonder if you could please tell me what the short string on the left of the clock is for? Would it be to stop it from chiming? or is it supposed to do anything at all? These clocks are adorable and beautiful! Much appreciated!
Hi, Thanks for contacting us. The string would usually be for pulling the hammers back, preventing them from hitting the rods and making sounds. The wheels will still turn and make noises. Enjoy your new purchase and remember that you will get used to the chimes in about two weeks... that's about when negative imprinting takes effect.
@@PerfectTimingCanada Thank you! The sound is so pleasing that every hour I go where the clock is at and wait for it to sound. I come back later on the hour and listen to it again!... Best regards!
I HAVE AN ANKER WESTMINSTER 3 tune WALLCLOCK wind-up clock purchased in 1981, possible 1500 model? WITH 4 hammers on one side and 8 hammers with two blocking levers when moving the clock and two chime braces holders. QUESTION - IS THERE A THIRD BLOCKING LEVER FOR THE 8 HAMMERS THEY DON'T MOVE ANYMORE AFTER CLOCK BEEN MOVED FOR CLEANING and the 4 hammers only move and chime one time on the hour than they use to chiming the hour of the day.
@PerfectTimingCanada Ran the tune level back and force and stop. Feeling level on music chime. At 8, I got one dong. Counter-clock moved the hour hand back to 1. Moved the minute forward to 2, no dong - moved forward again to 3, got one dong - moved forward to 4, no dong - moved forward to 5, one dong - moved to 6, no dong - moved to 7, one dong - moved back to 8, no dong this time. Music plays on the quarter hour sometimes but does plays on the hour. This is driving me to a cuckoo Clock!
I have a Kermle Clock made in Germany. It has 3 holes but the left one is stuck and when I try to scroll it with the key it give rolling sound then the clock stop producing the bill sounds.. any idea?
Hello, Thanks for the question. It sounds like the chime side mainspring is broken, or perhaps the click spring may be broken. You will need to find a clock repair person in your area to have the parts replaced and the mechanism serviced. Hope this helps.
I have an antique Elgin westminister chime wall clock. Has three key holes. Chimes sound off key. Meaning they sound annoying. A friend said it was the second and third hammer that needed to be loosened. How can i fix? The entrance in the back where the hammers are is very small suggestions?
Hi, thanks for your question. If the chime rods do not sound right the only solution is to take your clock to a professional clock repairer. There is no user friendly fix for this issue. Google clock repairs in your area. Hope this helps. Rick
Unless the clock has a special lever with which to stop the chiming or striking, then there is no guaranteed mechanically safe way to stop it. After a few weeks, our brains get used to it , and tend to ignore routine sounds Or if your clock has a pendulum, stop the pendulum at bedtime. and start up the clock in the morning
Thanks for your input. This tutorial only applies to European made, mechanical (wind up) wall clocks. Please use the setting knob on the back of your battery operated clock to set the time.

Hi there, Check the lever that changes the chimes. Is it set on Silent or in between two chimes?

My clock doesn’t chime at all, is there a switch to turn on.
It’s a Westminster chime wall clock regulator
Hi, Thanks for your question. Is your clock battery operated or is is wind up mechanical?
@@PerfectTimingCanada it’s a wind up.
Can u help me to get my grandfather wall clock up and running I think it is 1950/1980
Hi, thanks for contacting us. All of our online tutorials are here. Hopefully, one of them will help.
The middle one is gor strike chimes, the most right hand one is to turning the clock. What is the fuction for the most left hand spring wind?
Middle = Time. Left = Strike the hour. Right = Chimes the quarters.

May i know what is the fuction forbthe most left hand side winding spring for?
For what I have found out their function from left to right: Hours chime, clock/time, and 15 minute chime.
I have a New Haven Westminster chimes banjo clock that needs servicing. Do you do this service or do you know where I can get this service done?
Banjo clocks are very special American historical clocks which we certainly do service at Perfect Timing. Remove the pendulum before transporting.
Is there a way stop chime and just have it strike hour
It depends on the clock. If yours is identical to this one (mechanical, wind up, german made 1940's) then the answer to your question is no.
My clock is off. Its at 10 pm. it might only chime 6 times not 10.
My case clock when it chimes, it sounds like a clunk, how can I adjust it to chime pls
Hi, check to see if the chime rods are restricted by folding brackets on the lower case back. The brackets turn outwards to release the rods.
How to prevent the clock from making sound?

My wall clock opens in back uses aa batteries so I can't only turn minutes hand
