British Airways has historically carried a not-so-great reputation, but the airline may just have turned a corner with its new Airbus A350 Club Suites, first introduced in 2019.
In this video, I'm excited to finally try British Airways A350 Club Suites for myself, to see how it stacks up. Is the airline as bad as everyone says, or are there potentially some redeeming factors?

Imagine paying a couple of grand for these tickets and having some dude narrate the flight beside you.....
You survived seven hours in business class?
Oh the humanity!😢😢
Lucky you, last time I checked BA Business Class had a 1 in 5 survival rate...
For me BA and the One World Alliance is a no brainer if you fly regularly for work, especially from Heathrow or connect through there a lot. I travel with a client who flies business and myself in economy and its always easy. For casual travellers I'm sure there are other options, the BA status is underrated too.
I agree. BA may not be perfect, but we've generally found them to be a whole lot better than RUclips would have you believe.
I know I'm very late, but for me the OW status makes BA an easy choice
I personally prefer Virgin for international flights. For European flights, I absolutely avoid BA in the economy cabin, which has really become a low cost airline. That said the new BA business class is a vast improvement compared to their previous product and I prefer LHR Terminal 5 to CDG 2.
6:33 Great tip on using Cathay miles to save on the surcharges even when you are flying on a different airline - even if you do not have Cathay miles!
Finally Britsh Airways Have 1-2-1 seating In Business Class.Great Work
I wonder what the survival rate is for other business class products? That would be great to find out and review if you can.
Thanks for the quick review of BA. Concise and to the point, very helpful. We live in Mexico, and looking for a good way to travel between MEX and Europe.
I can highly recommend BA First out of Mexico City.
I like your reviews! Subscribed!
My wife and I got a free upgrade from PE to CW on the BA777 featuring the new cabin on the SIN to SYD overnight flight. Have to say we enjoyed the experience.
DId you and @Nonstopdan coordinate on this release
Wow you total saint. You *survived* an experience that billions of people will never come close to. Truly brilliant stuff
First thing I said with that title....
Cest La Vie!!
Lol, you need a lesson in figurative language. Don’t be stupid.
I needed so much help. As I was flying Air France business class but they are giving us way too many consequences. The guy right here gives a negative title which over all gives a bad reputation in mind. But this is excellent!😊
This video isn’t pitched at the economy class folks 😬
The BA flight from Montreal to London is the old 787-8 and the seats are outdated and lack privacy. Screens are laggy and the power sockets don’t work. The food is decent but that’s about it.
Another great review. Thanks
I found the business class seat (YVR/LHR) too lumpy. That's why I bring a 43" short EvoLite self-inflating hybrid air mattress. It smooths out the lumps between the seat sections and roll up to about 4"X9" and weighs only 12 oz.
Just booked because of you!
I have always travelled KLM business to UK to take advantage of their layover in Amsterdam. I am willing to try BA next flight.
The suites look great!
How do I know which flights have the new business class products ?
The new club suites are light years ahead of the old product. I've always liked British Airways (big Anglophile here), so I'm glad they have a competitive seat again. I'll be flying them in a week and I hope it goes well!
Well said- hope you have a great trip!
My first ever long haul in business class was in the old BA. Didn't anything to compare it to back than but liked it. Was on the A380 too so it was extra special for me.
how did it go?
@@imapoketrader Quite well! It's a good product and the service was great.
@@varyar77 happy to hear :) I do quite like it too. I'm flying Air Frances new business class to Seoul next month. Will be a good test!
How did you know using Cathay miles would be cheaper than using pints for British Airways or another carrier. I would love to see a tutorial or how to choose the best partner airline to transfer your points to so that you will pay the least in taxes. Thanks again for posting this video.
I have found BA to be pretty good. Their Club Europe service is consistent. I have also travelled across the Atlantic on BA in both Business and First Class. Service is better than Air France but the real downside is Heathrow Airport, which is chaotic and there are long queues in security, even if connecting inter-Europe.
'long queues in security' - Not when you went in First, though?
I guess if I was trying to get some transatlantic Business Class sleep and you were in the row near to me constantly whittling on I'd be pretty pissed off. Were you the only passenger in that cabin?
I fly them 1st class end of next month to Heathrow. I'm so hyped in a 777 1/2/1 positions.
Kinda calm down on the pretentiousness.
Last flew BA first LHR-ATL on the 787-9. I actually preferred my outbound on AA's 777-300 in the business min-cabin. Yeah, I was surprised.
Ricky. Is there any way to transfer points from one partner to another? For example. I’m a 1k with United, and have miles through them. Can I transfer these miles to another star alliance partner? Or is only possible to do this with for example am ex points
Sadly no it is not possible to move your United miles. Points are like sand inside of a pyramid and, metaphorically speaking, because of gravity they can only go downwards. In this context, you can only go down from AMEX points to airlines but NOT upwards from airlines to AMEX or sideways from airline to airline.
You can however book tickets on other Star Alliance partner airlines using your United miles on the United website. They're not just for booking United operated flights.
I think people are really unlucky because I’ve flown British airways many times and I’ve never really had a bad experience
Booked my parents to fly BA to Singapore in their Club Suites on their 77W. Let's hope it wasn't a waste of 💷 and points lol
my parents recently flew that route, their first time in the suites. They loved it. They often fly first class to Barbados, they said it very similar in many aspects.
Love the BA club world cabin and service nothing to survive just enjoy
Good to see the full meal service back in Club World - the last time I flew this, everything was served on one tray (and the time before that just a cold sandwich!)
The overall problem is BA doesn't deliver on what it charges or promises. Good to see things improved on your flight but the A380's needed updating a decade ago.
The Johnny Ginger is one of my favourite drinks in BA Business.
But how did you rate BA’s service? Inflight and on ground?
Excellent in our experience.
They serve champagne in a juice glass? Classy! ;)
Ricky Zhang theres a shipment of 100 cases of Russian vodka coming into Hong Kong Harbour.
Prob most importantly is the tray table goes all the way so I could sleep on my side! (ac makes it impossigle for big boys 😢)
One huge negative for me, with hundreds of thousands of American Airlines award miles, is their onerous "fuel surcharges" when redeeming on BA. On an upcoming trip from Europe to the U.S., they wanted only 57.5 K AA miles where AA wanted 125 K, but with nearly $400 in fees. As there are two of us traveling, that's a deal breaker. Luckily, I had plenty of United miles and they wanted only 90 K plus a few bucks.
@cool beeeze. I think that the taxes and fuel surcharges may be ridiculously high when going through LHR, as I know that their taxes are almost the highest in the world. But I’m not sure, bases on your itinerary. It just sucks, because a miles ticket should be free with miles as they used to be
Yes BA are very expensive on the fees and surcharges. It’s a common gripe amongst BA exec club members, specially on flights to/from US. Often redemptions are better elsewhere
@@1bluensx From BCN to ATL, one must transit LHR. Hence, huge surcharges. Last year I flew BA 1st LHR-ATL but preferred the AA business class on the outbound.
I booked BA business to the Middle East for me and a companion this past December costing 140000 points and over $2300 in surcharge. Decided to cancel it and pay the penalty to get my points and almost all my cash back minus $400, to then book on Qatar Airways and save the exorbitant fuel surcharges. Didn’t know about the Cathay Pacific booking so thanks
May I ask how you saved the charges by flying with Qatar? In my experience Qatar Airways are quite a bit more pricy than BA (though they are exceptionally good) and most of the fees that push up prices from UK airports are taxes that apply to all airlines.
@@davidf6326 I’m in Toronto but I had to fly out of Montreal and went to Jeddah with a stopover in Doha. I spent 150000 points for 2 tickets and less than $100 per person surcharge.
The only problem was finding space as major cities to Qatar were all booked for my late November travel
@@shirinmalik2235 Ah, I see - you were flying from Toronto not the UK.
Still strange though, because most of the higher surcharges when flying with BA are not levied by the airline but by the UK government. These apply to all airlines and flights out of the UK. This is so much the case, that some people even travel from the UK to places like Oslo to start a BA long haul trip which then goes via Heathrow; in doing so, they avoid the higher taxes. To see the impact, look at the cash element of a one way rewards flight on BA to, say, Brazil and then compare it to the cost of a one way flight in the opposite direction.
I just did 8 1/2 hours in British Airways economy.
Cancun to Gatwick. Flight was 3 hours late and not all of the luggage arrived ahaha
I was in British Airways business class around 1 year ago and it was not the best. luckily the flight was not delayed however the staff was not good, they spilled curry on me, they ran out of vegetarian food ( I understand this wasn't their fault but it was still annoying ) I asked for some snacks and they told me to Go and get it myself and they were just rude. I don't just want to sound like a spoilt arrogant brat, but it really wasn't what I excepted in business.
Some people can only dream of flying on business
So how was the cocktail?
Ricky, Make a video on the 747
"The Queen of the skys"
I've flown toronto to london business class via air canada, BA and westjet...and my westjet experience was the best - primarily because of the staff: fantastic people...the BA team just seemed overly rushed/inexperienced and not very attentive at all.
In which case it's a pity WestJet is dropping YYZ-LGW.
@@alexmcwhirter6611 yeah that's too bad - air canada it is
I enjoyed your review and your style. But you didn’t comment on two things that I consider important in judging any airline.
The first is the quality of the cabin staff. BA is fairly well known for indifferent service. Occasionally one comes across a great inflight team but that’s not the norm. Usually it’s just acceptable service, nothing impolite but you’re left with the feeling that they, cabin staff, can’t wait for the flight to finish.
The second is the state of the cabin and the cleanliness of the toilets. Even in Club World BA leaves the toilets unattended to. On long haul flights this is completely unacceptable. If one compares a Middle Eastern airline like Qatar Airways, both cabin crew and cleanliness are at the peak.
Your opinion on the dinner was on point. The food on BA is usually quite good. The wines served in Business Class are also excellent.
flew business class from LHR to SAN. Terrible Terrible Terrible spent almost 10k on the ticket and it was so disappointing
How was the service of the crew
Do westjet dreamliner business class only from Calgary
BA has earned its poor reviews. One of my friends has just returned a holiday in Kenya. Treated herself to a business class ticket as she had to go back to work the day after she got home. No problems going out but coming home yesterday business class was overbooked and she was downgraded to economy. By the way, the man ahead of her shouted at the BA staff and kept his seat. She was offered a 75% refund. Her flight was £3000 whilst economy was £200. Well done BA. Save some money and rip off your customers.
Saying things like “I survived” about an experience billions can’t afford during a time of such poverty across the world, indeed poverty in developed economic nations…. You understand the optics of that statement? No?
Did you really keep your jacket on for the entire flight, even when you were sleeping?
Why is Asia Miles lower fee?
sorry but the bloody title 😭😭 u survived 7 hours in BUSINESS CLASS??? WOW
I just booked a ticket back to london via JNB, the leg back unfortunately with qatar im on a BA 787 Club world, non-suite, wish me luck lmfao
+1 for saving $700 fuel charge for using Asia miles!
Breakfast? Did you skip it? 🙂
Nice video but I do miss a proper summary at the end.....
No 2nd meal???????
It’s interesting the very 2 different prospectives. I just watched Non-Stop Dan’s terrible experience with BA. I think his was uploaded last week with the same seat you’re in. His was horrible and yours was much better.
Just finished watching Dan's. What a nightmare.
I prefer BA Business to any other airline.
0:11 that's the old club suite from 2000 lol. BA really isn't that bad it's just the usual people who love to moan about BA.
Survived indeed
New club suite is only operate half of BA fleet. So there are 50/50 chance you get to to fly with their ancient horrible club world.
I’ve just this second come to the realisation that pretty much every problem and burden of the working class is that people like this have forgotten how to be afraid of them. Survived my arse.
I love British Airways
I’m guessing $6000 is the full price for a return ticket? Update: the surcharge with Asia Miles is 500 CAD one way now. Maybe you caused the increase 😆
Try flying with them during night time. I spent the better part of 5 minutes just trying to find the F*CKING charging ports in the seat!! (finally using the flashlight function of my iPhone!). The safety card/onboard magazine? Didn't find that until the NEXT MORNING when there was daylight in the cabin again! Yeah sure, fine, I'm all for "mood light" in the cabin but when it gets to being a border-line safety hazard ... and the food was just..meh. Final verdict: As a member of "None World" BA has quite a bit of catching up to do before they can seriously compete with Lufthansa Group or the other members of Star Alliance...
What was it about the bright green light you couldn't see to find the plug? If you didn't find safety card you must have had your eyes shut the whole flight. Lufthansa is the worst non budget airline in the world.
Too shallow analysis - apparently you are not a regular in the business class
1. BA has a proper pillow (better than other airways)
2. Eyeshades are larger the usual, so more comfortable to wear
People need to seriously STOP listening to all the BS negative RUclips airline vlogs out there on British Airways. In particular, the ones from silver spoon boy Non Stop Dan. The TRUTH IS……BA is a fantastic airline. While it may not be as opulent as Emirates, Ethiad, or Singapore Airlines…..BA is definitely NO WORSE than Lufthansa or Air France.
looks it's better than AC
@ricky so I'm guessing you haven't see @nonstopDan's recent BQ abysmal experience ;) you both have opposing views at this point.
Nonstop Dan always complains about every flight🤮
@@maryburger1232, I agree, he used to be quite informative, now he moans like an entitled pain in the a**e, and seems to be in love with Qatar Airlines.
Are Bukovyna that bad? 😅
Agree with @mary burger though, there are a handful of airline reviewers who make a habit of clickbaiting reviews about dangerous/awful/unsafe/dishonest/never again/etc airlines. We all know who they are.
Why does it look like American Airlines?
I totally disagree with you that BA has a "not so great reputation". Every airline has good and bad points. It is all very subjective so I would like to see your evidence to substantiate your statement.Your review didn't really come to any conclusion as there is no summary at all.
Try surviving in cattle class next time if you are brave enough 😜
😍😍😍😍
So Non Stop Dan does a BA video and then everyone else follows suit I see. So he must be the trendsetter
Terrible customer service. I prefer Cathay. I am British, should you ask.
Worst business class seats on any airline
BA over Virgin anyday! Love the BA product. Looks classy
I am the 1K like 🤌🏽😎
“sUrViVeD” 🙄
xxdd
not really surviving
Very bad!!
BA is a shameful airline. Truly terrible in every way.
You obviously don’t fly with many other airlines then
@@Andrew.-.- Well actually I do and have. I have flown all of the domestic airlines in the US and Canada including legacy carriers that are long gone, and at least 35 plus international carriers. BA stands out for the lack of accountability and a habit of perpetually over promising and under delivering
