Come on Mr Marles only 200 of these cripes that would only last Australia one freaking day in a full on engagement. So in Aussie dollars at the current rate 200 tomahawks cost Australian taxpayers 1.3 billion dollars, I wonder if this was calculated in the 368 billion AUKUS deal along with the procurement of the nuclear subs by the end of 2040???.
It should be pointed out that Japan ordered 400 tomahawk missiles about the same time we did, but their order has priority over ours simply because their proximity to the Chinese necessitates filling that order first. The only ships currently rated for tomahawks in Australia are the three Hobart Class AWDs.
And launch them from what? The only platforms in the entire ADF that can launch a Tomahawk are the 3 Hobart class Destroyers, which have a total of 48 VLS cells each for SM-2 and SM-6 LR SAMs, Tomahawks (1 missile per cell), ESSM SR Missiles (4 per cell). At most the Hobarts would be carrying 6-8 each. 200 would be about 4 times to many until we start getting more launch platforms, 2030>
