- Happy Fourth of July to you all. It has been a while. I wish I had more time to work with filmstrips.
This is one of the filmstrip in a set entitled Learning About Others. It is part of the Sesame Street - Skills for Growing filmstrip series. It features classic characters including Bert, Ernie, Oscar the Grouch, Big Bird, Grover, and Herry Monster. Other characters in the strip are Guy Smiley, Herbert, Hardhead, Yolanda, The Count, Biff, and Granny Fanny Nesselrode.
From the Teacher’s Guide: “The major goal of Sesame Street 4th of July is to carry the idea of cooperation and compromise into the area of resolution of social conflict---eliminating problems to everyone’s satisfaction. In particular, the filmstrip touches on the following points.
- Conflicts arise because people differ in what they think, want, need, and so on.
- In order to solve a conflict, it is necessary to understand the other person’s point of view.
- Solving conflicts usually requires compromise.
- Compromise means that each person has some, but usually not all, of his or her needs or demands met.
- Some conflicts simply cannot be resolved.
To encourage children’s involvement and participation, at two places in the filmstrip story, one of the characters speaks to the viewers and asks them to think of ways to solve the problems that have arisen.”
This video is presented for archival and historical purposes.

@@MuppetDude could you send my the play list of all of them please
@@ritaandrunt5767 I'll try, but sometimes when I send links they get removed. I'll try it in my next message; if you don't see it, then just find the playlist on my account.
EDITED TO ADD: Try looking up "Sesame Street Skills for Growing"; multiple people have made playlists of them, so it shouldn't be too hard to find 'em!
@@MuppetDude okay thanks for letting me know that
@@ritaandrunt5767 No problem. They're a pretty rare item with lots of the early characters, all voiced by the original performers. Enjoy!
Happy Fourth of July
