This car is so under rated. What a pure machine to drive, it's all about pure feeling, driving emotions, with no electronics parts. Love it so much. Just after the M5 E39 video, it makes me saying that the best cars were made in the 90's / 2000's. What a perfect garage combo it could be 🥰
Depends on your age. Those cars get popular now because people who dreamed about those cars while they were young are now at an age where they can afford to buy them. It's like that with every generation of cars.
I get what you're saying, but I didn't grow up caring about cars at all. I was born in '94 and I didn't give a shit about cars until I started driving when I was like 19 or 20, and I didn't really gain my current enthusiasm til maybe a few years ago.

996s are awesome...but you know I stayed right with one through the twisties at our cool track in Topeka, KS one afternoon in my slightly modified BMW 1995 318ti. On the straight he was of course gone but I caught up with him every lap. The owner bought me a beer that evening.
Nice Misha! Happy for you that you got to drive one of these (again). The time I worked as a Porsche-Technician, the 997 was the hot thing and the 996 received a lot of hate. Because of the headlamps etc. The first time I've driven a 996 ("just" the regular one with 320 PS tho) I actually liked it very much and the way it drove.
You are a great driver, and how you use the pedals is on another level. Maybe only at the beginning the first and second gears shift a little earlier. You can see on the faces of the owners that they are not too happy. I am already looking forward to the next video.
I have a 992 GT3 and I think in a few years I may get a 996 or 997 GT3 or GT3RS for my next car. I love my car but there is something about those Mezger engines.
It's a weird thing to comment on, but i freaking love the speedometer! I think it was in the (old) Need For Speed Porsche Unleashed you could drive this car :)
Your videos have helped my racing line on the Nordschleife in forza motorsport 7 tremendously. I play the game a lot and am always searching for an open track day lobby at the ring. I’m actually in one as I type this! You’re one heck of a driver Misha, cheers!
Why even have such a beautiful car and having all those mods etc. and then not be invested in good tires? Not sure about cars, but on motorcycles 7 year old cars and driving "spirited" will be a death sentence.. Tires get hard and loses traction way easier. Maybe it's not exactly the same for car tires?

But alas, we can all dream. A really great car. With 91k On the odo, its been well Used, which is good to see. Beautiful bit of driving there Misha. Thanks for taking us With you. Next years mine. 👍
Misha, I'm curious if you think something like a 2/3 way JRZ or other motorsport coilover suspension would have helped it over the curbs? I'm so drawn to the 996 GT3. I love my Touring, but as I've grown as a driver I continue to crave something tactile and raw that requires a very high level of focus and commitment to drive. I keep getting drawn back to the 996 GT3 for that reason.
You can keep your dual clutch transmission thank you, I'll stick to my manuals. Porsche still make manuals on their modern 911's........ But its a £20k optional extra!! The pdk gearbox is rather good tho.
footwork was good, but you brought the wrong shoes for a yellowbird ride and damn that thing was really fylin´and the 996 and not so "easy" driven fast
Love the car and the drive! I wonder what makes the 996 so much more engaging than the 997? Because for me 997 GT3 always was the dream track car with hydraulic steering and a reliable engine
Ya, I have a 997 (cup lip, numeric short shifter, etc) and have driven 996, frankly, I think it comes down to how they are tuned. Are we comparing 2 cars that are tuned, alignment, suspension settings, tires and pressure, etc that are exactly the same? Perhaps the 997 had newer tires and felt “soft” compared to old, dry rotted tires 😉. This isn’t a stock GT3 by any means, so are we comparing apples to apples?

996 has a touch more feel through the steering than 997 and you can feel more to do with what each corner of the car is doing. Overall a bit more communicative than a 997.
I'll be honest, I spent the first 4 or 5 corners wondering why you had a cable tie around your boot. Then I realised it was actually laces, then I had to rewind and watch again 🤣😎👌
