  • During London Climate Action Week 2024, H&F hosted a Climate and Ecology Cafe with Atkins Realis consultants on the climate risks facing the borough and the adaptation work that we will be undertaking to protect ourselves from the impacts of flooding, heat and drought.
Urban areas like H&F will be impacted more by these changes, because our populations are larger and denser than in rural areas and our road and building surfaces absorb and trap heat and are often impermeable. We also have less green space.
The impacts will include higher levels of heat stress and heat-related mortality, more transport network closures, power cuts, and higher repair bills.
However, by taking adaptive action we can improve the borough for residents today and future generations, making our spaces greener and our communitites more resilient.
