    Can you do a video on wing beach training. Lots of us are patiently waiting for wing gear to arrive due to shipping delays, gear such as boards and foils. While we wait can you suggest training/practice techniques we can do on the beach. Thank you, your team are awesome. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all you do.

    Yup - a windsurfing thing from back in the '80's. I always thought it was called a Duck Jibe (Gybe) because you "ducked under" the booms when the board came around. Lotta fun to do - it feels so smooth when everything connects

    Duck Jibe! One of the first "tricks" on a Windsurfer. "Invented" by Richard Whyte. Father of current Cabrinha rider/surfer extraordinaire Moona Whyte. The Circle of Life!
    Parking lot practice with a longboard/skateboard helps a lot! (just don't drag the wing against the asphalt).

    I did duck jibes with windsurfing simply because it was easier. I don't know why it's called a duck jibe here other than just the direction you spin the wing? But I'm looking forward to finally getting in the water to learn winging in a couple weeks!

      @@devonmike Nice. I'll be renting equipment at first. Which is going to be pretty expensive since the sport is still new, but I have no idea how I'll take to it or what size foil I'll need. But if I end up loving it I'm thinking of getting a Fanatic Sky Air Premium. Which is a long name for an inflatable foil board. 😅
      But I have a friend in the UK who I've been trying to get into it. I have a friend here in the US who I've already convinced and he is going to try it himself in a month or two.

    25+ yr windsurfer, never foiled, going to buy a wing so thank you for all the vids! Basic question, should I try wing w SUP for a while then foil, or try windsurf foil then wing foil? ie what would be easier?

    • @DamienLeroyYouTube
      @DamienLeroyYouTube  3 года назад +1

      I would say if you have a SUP sure use it in the mean time, but honestly I would dive right in! Being a windsurfer will help with the wing! The foil will come not easy but you will get it..... I would go all in....

    What I learned from handle or boom grip is that there is no proper way to hold the wing. Both ways are the proper way and it just depends on which trick or turn you want to do (I switch between the grips while riding constantly).

    Question to Leroy and Harry, how often do you kite foil, or have you given it up?
    Our beaches in South Devon, UK will be busier this year as we are just getting over Covid restrictions so launching kites may be awkward. Wing foiling seems to be the way to go, no restrictions regarding space

    Thanks for this video and keep m coming! Love the good vibes between you two! Contagious it is! This was really instructive and taking this with me next time on the water. Do you have a video or advice on how to best ride switch stance? I am almost nailing my jibes, but when going switch stance I enter a complete alien world (coming from windsurfing, windfoiling). How can I get my brain wired for switch stance riding? Thanks! Cheers!

    • @hotchesh
      @hotchesh 2 года назад

      It comes from windsurfing, as Flaka and all the rest. Windsurfers are translating windsurfing freestyle tricks to winging. Duck jibe is when you duck under the clew of a windsurf sail.ie flip the sail trough the back end similarly to what you see here with the wing,

    Hey Damien, on your last note there, I’m still being blocked from the lift efoil user group. The guy that runs it must be your biggest fan since he uses your face for the Facebook group so I’m sure if you could just message him then he could unblock me. I think he wouldn’t accept me because I first had a waydoo efoil and am in all their groups. I then researched how to contact admin and called Billy Breeze at work so he could approve my request to join the group and Billy says he doesn’t really know the guy. I joined the group but then the next day I’m blocked so the group doesn’t even show in my search results. Lift says they cannot do anything about it because it’s just some guy so you’re my last hope. Please convince you’re biggest fan to be more like you!
