    My Goodness, ....... THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. I was crushed by making the mistake of not prepping(with tape) my 2x4 foot resin Wall Art project. Well needless to say I’ve done this before (you know...when you’re so excited to get started, that you forget to tape), and it took me hours to sand the sides.... and drips underneath. I felt like giving up on this one, but it was too damn big.... lol. It took me lots of hours to build that frame with perfect mitered corners! So..... I searched on RUclips hoping to find anything easier than sanding a 2x4 foot framed wooden board. And then I found your video!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got the resin off of the sides and bottom in under 30 minutes. I’m so thankful. God bless you for passing this info to all of us. Take care and stay safe.

    It should be noted that this won’t work if you’ve got drip on top of already cured resin...it could pull more up than you want. But this is a great tip! Great use of that attachment!

  • @schmadam71

    Nice and simple, love it. On a side note, in DIY that heat gun attachment is for both spreading the heat and shielding things from it, such as around windows, not for scraping. It works great for your purpose here but should not be used for scraping paint or wallpaper on vertical surfaces as the scrapings could fall into the heat source and burn. I know that's not the point but it may save someone from a tricky situation.

    • @michaelaleman2355
      @michaelaleman2355 2 года назад

      Thanks for sharing as your advice led me to take a slightly different, yet similar approach.
      Since my epoxy drips were formed a little more than 30 hours since the pour, they were still a little flexible and would not pop off as in your video.
      I used a barrel nozzle on my heat gun and a metal scraping tool (with a thin edge). For each drip, i placed the scraping tool in front of the drip, applying slight forward pressure while heating the scraping tool and let the slight pressure on the tool move forward to remove the drip.
      As my project is a 81"x15" shelf, I was dreading to attempt using a sander as it would become a gummy mess.
      While there was some cleanup afterwards (slight residual bumps remained) it was far easier as certainly less time to accomplish as I completed the drip removal (with sanding to smooth out the residual drips) in less than one hour AND no dusty mess!

    CLARA!!!!!!! I just discovered you here! Nice rooster in the background. :-) Glad I ran across this video. I forgot my heat gun had attachments besides the platypus one so I had to hit the basement and find the box! YAY, it wasn't hard to find. So I have this attachment, too. :-) Before finding this video, I had just gotten my dremel going and was using that. But WOW, what a mess that was! Your mess doesn't look nearly as bad, so I'm going to try that next time! Thank you!

    • @ClaraLawrence
      @ClaraLawrence  5 лет назад

      Woo Hoo! You found it. Remember let the drips warm up with the heat and put mild to firm pressure. If you find yourself really pushing on it, back off. Besides that the attachment has a slit in it designed to pop off if too much pressure is applied. The bits go flying. Have fun. It is very satisfying to go through a lot of drips in a row!

      Not sure exactly what you mean, but I will try. If I am doing a thin coat of resin before pouring my colors I will add a little to my glove and coat the sides sometimes, then if the colors run over everything looks nice.

    • @ClaraLawrence

      Be very careful with glass and a heat gun. I would imagine that glass would be a bit testy and if it doesn't like it... shatter. Proceed with caution. I've never done glass personally.

    • @ClaraLawrence
      @ClaraLawrence  Год назад +1

      @@projectalice8119 In fact I have a video on that too. Liquid latex is wonderful. You can even paint designs and remove them like tape. However, do remove your liquid latex after a couple of days. Wait longer and it gets sticky and leaves a lot of residue behind. Especially after a couple of weeks. I use it on the back of paintings all the time and have learned the hard way not too wait too long. In fact couldn't get the stuff off with any cleaning chemicals. Just rule of thumb, I use. Take it off in 4 days. No longer. Here is my affiliates link. amzn.to/3SfKrUz

    What do you use if your heat gun doesn’t have that attachment? A regular paint scraper?

    • @ClaraLawrence
      @ClaraLawrence  3 года назад

      Putty Knife works great. I would recommend one with a solid handle to grip and be mindful of not exposing your hand to the direct heat. Heat up your drips with the heat gun, then go in with the putty knife at an angle that matches your surface (horizontal) or slightly above and give it gentle to firm pressure. If it doesn't move, heat up more and try again. You will know when you get the right heat when it almost seems easy to move the blade across the top. Remember those drips go flying and they are hot!

    Will this work on a canvas?

    • @ClaraLawrence
      @ClaraLawrence  5 лет назад

      Yes, it will. Watch how long you apply the heat and move with more care. Don't want to tear up the canvas. The areas in the corner with folds will be trickier. You can take the bulk off this way and touch it up with sanding. This is what I had to do with mine.
