It's highly likely that Wonderweiss moving fast THOUGH the World-Gate had something to do with it! You know, reacting is not all about Speed.

@@BleachIsFTW how many are worth a whole video. Yachitus is neat but he already talked about it in kenpachis video. Edgy boi had a cool one as well as ikkaku and renji but besides that we dont even have much to disscuss when it comes to their zanpakuto speciffically. Even the ones that do show off arent the most complicated to explain already so shoving them all into one video seems pretty easy. If he just does some of the other captains instead he can talk about rukia ichibei and shinji which if you ask me are way more intersting topics

@Oz Well... if he doesn't mind just watching it for the "journey" and not for the "end goal"... If you like to see cool battles and characters yes, you will get a few good arcs.
If you want a satisfying ending...well... this one has a pretty shitty one. And as this video makes clear don't expect for all the "cool characters" to have a cool development or final epic moment...
I overall liked Bleach very much, until Aizen's defeat. (Even with some weird plot points there) But after that it presents an arc with a lot of potential that got axed and finished in one of the worst ways i remember in manga.

Ukitake's sacrifice did do something, Yhwach was going to just kill the SK and let tje worlds collapse into their original form. Because of what Ukitake did Yhwach decided to absord the SK and recreate the original world with his own hands, meaning the destruction of the worlds was delayed and this allowed Ichigo enough time to defeat him.

The Lightning could refer to others abilities, while the Wave could refer to redirecting the flow.

I'm really enjoying Tekking talking about Bleach again - it makes me want to go and dust off my books. I really hope that he does the lieutainant's zanpakuto one day.
One of my favourite characters in the show. Would’ve loved to see him fight more, he’s probably as strong if not stronger than Shunsui.

@@lillith7257 You just have to put 2-2 together. They both were trained by Yama, both graduated at the same time from the shinigami academy, both dual swords users and both captains. Yeah, he hardly fights, the closest we saw any action during the anime was with Stark and even less so in the 1000 year blood war arc.
But we can only assume it, so yeah, sorta like middle-aged Sarutobi.
Lets be real here. With his illness his strength probably comes more from his technical abilities, in which case we have absolutely no idea how strong he really is. It's not that well hinted at and it seems like he's just one of those characters that are kept mysterious to inspire discussion between fans. Nothing much has really been proven about his character and his abilities weren't well tested either. What most likely happened is that there was a reveal planned for his character, but there was never a convenient enough fight where it would be utilised, so he was instead killed off twice to give the reader a sense of scale.
@Tekking101 The reason Ukitake didn't notice Wonderweiss is because Sonida is undetectable. Kazeshini doesn't count as a dual blade Zanpakto because the essence of Kazeshin is the chain. Only those with an extra spirit inside them can have dual blades. Ukitake has Mimihagi, Shunsui has the little ninja girl and Ichigo has Yhwach's shard. The novels also elaborates a lot on his past with Ginjou and what happened between the two.
You got the thing about Mimihagi wrong. Ukitake singlehandly saved the world and caused Yhwach to delay his plans. Yhwach never planned on absorbing the Soul King. He wanted to end his life, so that the worlds would merge together, thus recreating the old world without death. Ukitake summoning Mimihagi scared Yhwach because he realized that he couldn't see him and that the Soul King may try to devour him. Thus he had no choice but to absorb the Soul King, which delayed his plans, since he now needed the power to manually merge the realms. This gave Ichigo and the others the chance to foil his plans. Otherwise, Yhwach would have won in chapter 615. And most importantly, without Ukitake's sacrifice, Ichigo would been killed by Ichibee and turned into the lynchpin. But absorbing the Soul King turned Yhwach into another candidate. Ukitake is the true hero of Bleach.
This, just this. Ukitake saved the world. But i wish we got at least one full fight with him though.

Quite late to the party, but I've always felt like Ukitake was a waste of potential. The mystery, the age/experience/intelligence, the connection/friendship with Shunsui, the insinuation of supreme strength etc all resulted in .. nothing. literally one of the best character build ups (looks/swords/position etc) that came down to being one of the biggest let downs in the series, if not the biggest imho

Ukitake is my favorite character in Bleach despite his lacking...
Before I was thinking of his Shikai making a bit more stronger and versatile...
His Shikai, instead of waiting for a Attack to redirected, it absorbs Reiatsu around him in the same style as his first Shikai, then fires them. He can still Redirect special attacks of course!!
The attack is pure Reiatsu, and he can change it into any element he desires with the help of the five talismans, the fired attack can be a lightning, water, wind based and etc....
His Bankai though... Idk 😅

I understand why people don't like the Wonderwise take down of him but I always seen it as Kubo showing that wonderwise was a extremely strong opponent especially because he was designed to fight Yamamoto
I rather liked that character myself. Given that he was designed to fight Yamamoto I would say that battle was rather interesting.

his sword makes perfect sense, at least to me. The "shield" is the sword that takes in attacks as a defensive ability, and the other is his "blade", the offensive ability.
Shuhei´s zanpakuto is revealed to actually be the chain, Ukitake is truly two swords due to the influence of the soul king arm inside him. It´s all in the novel

Jushiro is apparently gonna have his Bankai revealed in the Can’t Fear Your Own World novel eventually along with Shuhei and Shinji
That was only for Shinji ans Shuhei, the novels have been translated and they never said anything about his bankai. I think only a bit of the epilogues are left to be translated.

The whole "flow of power" and "blast like lighting" reminded me of Iroh's water-bending influenced "Lightning Redirection" technique that he used to counter the fire bender's lightning blasts

Alright, hear me out: in one of the arrancar arcs, Rukia mentions she regained her power by absorbing the spirit energy around her though rather slowly. Jushiro stores spirit energy within his body and his sword can redirect energy attacks. I think Jushiro might have been an anti-quincy weapon during the first war.

The thing I would've loved Ukitake to have been able to do with his bankai is form some sort of water reflection(?) type of shield that absorbs damage and amplifies it, transferring it to his other sword which turns into a literal hand-wielded lightning bolt whose power depends on how much damage was absorbed by the shield.
And also obviously, water/lightning combo is devastating.
@Lone Espada HELL YEAH like, again there's so much untapped potential with a lot of the characters but Jushiro isn't really talked about that much and that's a real shame because the things you could come up with for his bankai are so interesting.
Not only does that idea follow the energy absorption and reflection theme his zanpakuto has, but is also kinda symbolic in a way. Ukitake as a character, as Tekking said, is really chill and loveable and just an overall nice guy and in battle he's calm and doesn't do anything rash. Kinda like water. Though when push really comes to shove he'll obviously pull out all the stops and just go for it, which you wouldn't really expect from his character - akin to a lightning strike. Lightning appears instantaneously and is unexpected.

I don't think Ukitake made it worse in the last Arc, because without his interference, the 3 realms, Soul Society, Hueco Mundo and the Human World would have collapsed on one another(Ywhach's original goal). Apparently that didn't happen when Ywhach absorbed the Soul King
For a long time, I have felt like Ukitake’s zanpakuto might be themed after “Flow” myself, the intersection of the concept of water and electricity being “current”. It seems a bit abstract, but based on the release command and the redirection ability. Not sure what that would mean for his Bankai, but thematically I think it fits.

Tekking! I think one of the inspirations for Ukitake's swords is Manji's sword "Shido" from Blade of the Immortal manga. It's really similar in design but with only having the branching blade curved and pointing away from the user unlike Ukitake's.

I mean ukitake does was a sweetheart and one of the most kind captains, and protector of rukia. So yes his powers for the most of what we saw of them were pretty cool. And he sacrificed for a good cause. But yeah i was scares when they hint he might be a bad guy. But great video tekking.

I've always thought the difference between Ukitake's Zanpakuto and Hisagi's Zanpakuto, and what makes Ukitake's a true "dual bladed" Zanpakuto, is that Ukitake's has two separate spirits just like Kyōraku's. So the two blades actually refers to Zanpakuto spirits as opposed to physical blades. This would explain why Hisagi doesn't have a "dual bladed" Zanpakuto, but also means that Ichigo does have one.
I also think the reason he got so easily taken out by Wonderweiss is because he has a weakness for children. He had lowered his guard because of Wonderweiss' appearance, which was enough for it to take advantage of. And we know he has this weakness from his interaction with Lilynette. Still don't like that he was taken out so easily by someone that want Aizen, but I think that is the reason for it.

Fun Fact, in the recent light novel of Bleach, the full history of Ukitake and Ginjo is revealed and Ukitake wrote a series of children's books "Sogyo no Okotowari" based on his relationship with Ginjo.

@Tekking101 I would say that the element aspect is not literal. The aspect of water and lighting is that water acts as a shield while lighting acts as a sword.

Souls are just reincarnations of humans. Soul Society is just another cycle of reincarnation, so regular souls can get sick & eventually die. They will then get reincarnated into another world, based on Buddhism where bleach is heavily drawing from.

Looking at the release command: "Water rises and becomes my shield. Lightning strike and become my blade." if lightning represents his blades and water is his shield. His weapon blocks attacks (Water) and strikes back (Lightning), well water his highly conductive especially to electricity. The lightning part is probably talking about the kido, so in other words, it's trying to say that his blades absorb kido as *water absorbs lightning* and that he can block kido like a shield, and use it to strike back like a blade.
Hey tekking can you do a video on vasto lorde level hollows. Like whether the top arrancar were indeed vasto lordes or not . Similarly about ichigos "vasto lorde" form. Also do you think the second release would have been unique to ulquiorra if given enough time to the rest ?

I always thought that Ukitake's zanpakuto's ability might be related to storms, as in treacherous waves and lightning in an ocean storm . The Shikai ability looks like some kind of lightning rod.
