    what a breath of fresh air. love the three of you guys just sitting and chatting and having "fun". I really enjoyed listening to you guys laughing and talking about the philippines, do's and don'ts, expat living in the philippines, and Baby Mae's tada ( not sure if it's spelled right). when I move there, at first, it was dumaguete, then cebu, then iloilo. haven't figured out where the home base will be, but I am concerned about the brown outs. so, I'll probably pick the place less prone to brown outs to start. I'm 73, average health, single, and itching to take the plunge. probably next february, if I can pay down some of my debts. I live on ss only, living with my son and his family at the moment.

    What is hospital administrator doing teaching MCAT preparatory review? A different world from medical school? FYI there are well established MCAT preparatory schools in the US. That guy is speaking a lot of BS. Arab women don’t have a dating culture, especially non Muslim white men. It can cause them their lives, family honor is a big deal in the GCC.

    I would think that part of the success with foreigners in the Philippines, Dumageti in particular, is due to the close bonds with other men who have a common interest and a similar background. Men need their space and probably more in their later years. Being able to get away with friends to travel, or a weekend adventure would definitely quench the thirst of living well and stress free from everyday life.

    Social Security is in the U.S. general fund. There is no separate fund for SS, so it will not go broke. On the other hand, it will stop when the U.S. government decides not to print a check for you. If it was in a separate fund and invested in the markets, we would have trillions of dollars in SS, but unfortunately the government squandered it all.

    This was one of your better video content/format. Other topics you might consider, 1. Ex-pats, living alone in the Philippines. 2. You or your wife covering availability of older women 37 to 47 for older ex-pats to consider. 3. If an ex-pats had to retreat back to their respective countries, for whatever reason, could they survive? 4. Is tension between China and the US affecting the Philippines in anyway, particularly with the new military base at the Philippines?
    5. Follow up on older Expat, who are disabled, and their ability to survive in the Philippines.6. What is it like for disabled and or ill ex-pats living in an old peoples home, retirement facility there in the Philippines?
    Keep on, keeping on….

Vietnam is on the 4th spot with around 2.3 million vietnamese followed by Korea on the 5th spot with around 1.985 million koreans. Source: MPI Tabulation of Data from the U.S. Census Bureau 2019 ACS.
    In 2019, the median annual household income of households headed by Asian people was $85, 800 compared to $61, 800 among all U. S. households. Social Security will not stop. Even when the Russian Ruble collapsed, retirees collected. What is more likely is economic collapse and/or hyperinflation making the US dollar amount less valuable. You can actually find old headlines dating back to 1938 (?) and during the first year of SS and see folks saying it would go broke. Stay well.

  • @rolandowagner7775
    @rolandowagner7775 Год назад +13

    Mike, regarding the social security issue. Yes, it's like political suicide to talk about cutting social security but we are at 32 trillion national debt, nearly 6 trillion added in the past 2.5 years and American birth rates are decreasing. There's only so long that politicians can spend us to oblivion before REALITY WILL HIT at some point. Look at how much our gov't has to spend INCREASINGLY every year just to service the debt interest payments. Fantasy Island funny money will come to an end eventually. It's a matter of time.
    I should add that talking about cutting social security is political suicide only because the politicians, media and public are conditioned to only think about the short term future. The Public has to be informed about the urgency of politicians spending us into oblivion. There has to be reform or SS does become insolvent very soon. There isn't even any money in SS. It comes out of the general fund (from current tax payers). The corrupt politicians are intentionally destroying the future of USA and somehow the same corrupt career politicians get elected all the time.

      Some people our age can't wrap their mind around the gov spent my SS. It has, and continues borrow into the future. Add as you say, less birth rates, less income for ss, but also more illegals collecting, along with inflation eating the last value the USD has.

      My only issue is you can't give massive tax incentives that mainly benefit the wealthy then cut benefits that strengthen the Middle Class. My best friend is the VP of a large company and they predicted the current situation we are in. When the tax breaks were given he said we are one major disaster or War away from a recession and we had both.

    • @rolandowagner7775
      @rolandowagner7775 Год назад +1

      @@tswej Everything you said is exactly why the US is going to hell in a hand basket. The private (productive) economy is what makes the money and the gov't wastes productive money via taxes, waste, fraud, slush funds, numerous fraudulent programs, ridiculous studies, international schemes, throwing money at corrupt regimes (eg Ukraine) and a million other examples.
      Do you really think the Fedzilla gov't needs near 3 million employees and to spend 6.27 Trillion dollars annually? Companies employ many people, and pay a lot in local, state, federal, property taxes. That is productive activity. Gov't taxes and wastes. Tax is Theft.
      The gov't should never spend more than they take in and Fedzilla needs to go back to doing ONLY WHAT IS ENUMERATED IN THE CONSTITUTION. That means cut the Fedzilla gov't in half TOMORROW!

I've been here since 2005, and I know other expats that have been living here longer then I have, and they all laugh at these guys. A couple of expats told me you have to be living here at least 7, 8 or more years before you really know anything about the Philippines, thier customs and culture. A lot of these newbies are rehashing what's already been said.

      As a 43-year-old Filipino who has lived here my entire life, I've had the opportunity to travel extensively within the country for work. Yet, I continue to be pleasantly surprised by the diverse mindsets, beliefs, and traditions I encounter in various provinces. The warmth and hospitality of the people vary from one region to another, with some provinces being especially friendly and welcoming. Some Cities and Municipalities have some ordinancies and policies that are unique to them. For these reasons, I will still not call myself expert about everything Filipino. I'd settle for being knowledgeable.🙂

    And ya know..more times than not I prefer to just sit back and hear ya'll chat about nothing and everything. Don't bore me with 115 To Do Lists. Believe it or not ya'll are classified as entertainment and don't have to be educationally specific besides what may come organically as folks like to say nowadays. Go for a walk, have coffee with some buds, road trip, or have fun with the sig. other and record it. We all enjoy watching pretty filipinas 😎If during this time a topic pops into your head ..cool man cool..
    Guess that's the good thang about RUclips & vloggers, there's enuff of yas to pick and choose and sit back and relax or sit up with a pen and paper and blah blah blah It was a good Live. May all your trips to the hospital be quick! 🤣 Kidding So Paul..the Mrs doesn't like facial hair? See..that's a great topic right there. Why ya'll so clean cut? Ya retired! 😉Enjoy the rest of your day Sir

    It does not matter if you don't think there are too many ex-pats.... What do the locals think about too many Older Male foreigners.???

      We are graciously accepted,
      Why else would so many older expats come and stay.
      If we were not wanted, then most older expats would leave here. And Visa laws would be a lot tougher too.
      Obviously, we are accepted and indeed wanted.
      Oh, and please don't say it is due to our money or we stay for young girls..
      That would just show how uninformed you are.!!!

    I'm in Virginia and building a rather huge trellis system to grow my luffa sponges on. It works out great to listen to your videos. I don't have to be tuned in visually. It's more like a podcast.
    This is day two of the bamboo trellis build. It makes me imagine I'm on an island within a city.
    My neighbor said I could live in it. He likes to sit in his backyard adjacent to mine and watch me, my chickens, ducks and goose do gardening projects.
    It's my answer to living someplace like the Philippines.

    From what I understand, if you were born before a certain year, you are grandfathered and you’re supposed to be guaranteed your SS. Anyone who was born after that date has to worry about cuts in payments. Like every where else, inflation will catch up in Asia. Worst yet, by telling everyone that rent is cheaper over there, if anyone who rents out property seeing videos like this, you will see rent going up.
