Rey Mysterio needs to be Top 2 picks for Smackdown otherwise you are a complete novice at drafting - Rey is strong enough to compete for the mid card title or main title and also makes the cruiserweight division redeemable. Without Rey, the women's division is all over the cruiserweights.
You can trade for people, your person that you're offering has to be at least 1 popularity over the person you're trading. You can't "cheat" the AI in SvR GM Mode trades. Also, I don't think giving titles to increase popularity counts after the trade is considered by the GM(world titles increased popularity by 5, I think midcard & tag team titles by 3 or 2). Also, you can always restart your draft & try to snag a person you really want again, maybe losing 1 person(you might've gotten Mysterio, Edge, or Benoit instead of Cena or even Angle or Undertaker). You could probably sent WHC John Cena for Rey Mysterio, Edge, or Benoit, & they accepted.

You know you can get boogeymen and have him feud with the undertaker, it can be an amazing and freaky rivalry, boogeymen can be dirty and still have undertaker be a face, think about it bro

I personally would keep the brand split, I don't like one big combined roster because it means less people can get opportunities
