This was definitely less of a "this characters origin" and more of a "this character's personality". Hoyo likes to do that where they have a video that goes deep into a characters origin and lore and then they have a light-hearted ""here's the character in everyday life" and that can really add necessary dimensions to a character.
I think maybe they did this because The Herta is a powerful scientist that got tired of waiting for a god to give her purpose, and Ruan Mei is a powerful scientist that wants to be god. Two versions of what happens since the aeons don’t often care
I think this gave us a greater insight into The Herta actually, how she lives and the start of her daily routine, how she tackles things she isn't familiar with (using curios as cooking utensils and even ingredients), and how she feels about others (she clearly cares about Ruan Mei and values her enough to actually take time to make something for her AND deliver it herself, which you wouldn't have expected from how she usually acts) It also reinforces the things we did know about her, she likes to try new things (she has very clearly never cooked or baked before considering she calls a recipe book a "magic tome"), she truly has a lot of puppets and cares about herself, has an eye for detail and notices small changes (when one mini was missing she noticed), and she is a silly goober who I fucking love
It's not that she's terrible in the kitchen, she did still manage that ship sized cake. The point was to show her arrogance. She was learning how to make cake, thought she knew better, and optimized each and every step to disastrous effect.

I disagree we have a TON of lore from Simulated universe and the side modes. So seeing a goofball side of her is a breath of fresh air and it was very funny
There is also that Adventure Mission on Penacony that manages to further humanize Herta and make Screwllum even more of a badass than he already was. Have my doubts he did it though, which is a shame.

herta's en voice actress reminds me of velma from the animated scooby doo movies. The ones with real monsters like zombie island or the one with the witch.
Clearly we'll get the Star Rail anime once UFOTable actually finishes the Genshin Anime announced several years ago (Low-key expecting it met the same fate as Genshin on Switch).
