    Great video! However, the altimeter is the only instrument that contains a sealed aneroid wafer with 29.92 ISA pressure. The VSI and ASI contain a diaphragm that receives static pressure from the ambient atmosphere.

  • @Cajun2216
    @Cajun2216 9 дней назад

    Everything is true except the ASI and VSI have a diaphragm not anneroid wafers. I busted my oral bc I drew this out like the video and said wafers and it was wrong

    The airspeed indicator is connected to a diaphragm, the only instrument that is connected to aneroid wafer is the altimeter man!

    I am pretty familiar with these systems, but I still picked up a couple of tidbits: standard day pressure sealed into the altimeter aneroid, and the orientation of the turn indicator gyro. Cool...learn at least one new thing every day.

    Off-topic rant.
    I do not like the term "Steam Gauges". Seems like a pejorative term contrived by glass cockpit manufacturers to convey the idea of old-fashioned. "Analog Gauges" makes more sense. It just feels like the aviation community was manipulated by marketing teams. Not a big deal... just sits poorly.
