Kenyan here, we are very proud of Wangari Maathai (RIP)
Most Kenyan Primary and Hight Schools have a practice of every student planting one or more tree every few years. That means millions of Kenyans have each planted at least one tree,
Its all because of her actions.

Wow! That's wonderful to hear! Wangari Maathai was an incredible woman who did so much for her country and the world. It's great that her legacy lives on through the millions of trees that have been planted by Kenyan students. Keep up the good work!

You need to confirm if all the reforestation projects you mention are 'the right tree in the right place' before we can make the assumption these projects are good for the planet.
E.g are these trees native and planting on habitats which should be forest?
Or are they non native trees, typically in monocultures planted on biodiverse grassland or carbon rich peatland.

A couple of decades ago I lived in North London. I'd walk my dogs in the local park that bordered the countryside of the Green Belt. My wife collected some acorns on one of our walks and we decided to try and grow them, for fun and with no expectations of success. To our surprise we actually got several to "take", put them in pots and after a year or so took them off the window sill in the kitchen and put them out on the balcony of our little flat. They grew quite quickly and soon became too large for our tiny balcony. I therefore contacted the local council and asked if it was possible to plant them somewhere - the brusque response was that "they're the wrong kind of trees so we can't help you". Obviously this was a bit of a shock as we'd collected the acorns from mature trees that were already in a park maintained by the council. I was quite annoyed. As I walked my dogs in the park I looked at the oak trees and had an idea.
A few nights later at midnight my wife and I took one of the trees (it was about five feet tall in it's pot), a rucksack full of water (in old 2L Coke bottles), and a shovel and walked to the park. Dug a hole at one of the places we'd selected, popped in some mulch and the sapling, refilled the hole and put as much of the turf back that we could. It was a very rough job but then planting a tree at midnight by moonlight...what do you expect? Over the following days I'd walk the dogs but take along some coke bottles of water in a bag - and water the little tree. The next full moon we did the same again, and repeated the process until we'd cleared our balcony.
I'm not sure if we broke any laws - but it was a lot of fun. And we continued to water "our trees" as long as we lived in the area. If I'm in the area I check on them and they're still doing well. A little piece of civil disobedience that I'm quite proud of.

Every child should plant a tree, bush, flowers or garden with their parent or teachers.
It will help connect them to nature and the environment.

Hey Kenz300 x! We really agree that connecting kids with nature is important. Planting trees, bushes, flowers, or creating a garden can both be fun and meaningful! Not only will it help them learn about the environment and build a sense of community but with the climate crisis, it's more important than ever to take action and inspire to protect the planet. Thanks for your positive and supportive message!

@@naturio-tv I think you should go online and find plenty of petitions to stop not only stop shark killing tournaments but the the willlow projects of course planting trees could also be a good thing for they absorb carbon and other pollutants just remember everything has to exist in a delicate balance, and for what it’s worth, not having any children along with the factor of tree pod burials we stand a better chance of saving the planet. I think the tree pod burial should be a new normal so that forests will be able to absorb more carbon than we can put into the atmosphere not the other way

I was always brought up with the word "reafforestation" so it really bugged me to see, what I presume is another "American bastardaisation" of the English word, to reforestation, as is American custom, noting, like Professor Higgins, that the Americans haven't spoken English in years. So there is a difference. What Paola Lugari is doing in Columbia is reafforestation, bringing back to life, land that has been deforested for years. Or is the difference just the soft appeasal process of the Australian Modern Oxford Dictionary between Oxford and the Webster Dictonary. How long will it take before we are all Americanized, one way or the other. Even the English can no longer speak English. Anyway, speaking proper English- or any other language - doesn't matter anymore; so long as you can press the right buttons on the computer screen (monitor), all's well.

Not sure what you mean by ‘’achieve symbiosis’’, if you mean living sustainably, that requires two things, a rapid end to the actual cause of global warming which is animal agriculture. Secondly we need a rapid transition to a Decentralised Carbon Neg Algae Based Economy, because we literally only have a few years left to permanently sequester the excess atmospheric CO2( if it’s not too late already). The climate doesn’t have time to wait 10 years( min) for enough people to go plant based diets, and for the released land to be reforested and mature enough to permanently sequester enough CO2 to reverse global warming. The last time the Earth had 420ppm of atmospheric CO2 the Seas were approx 78 feet higher, so we just at the beginning of what 420ppm will do!. Photo Bio Reactors( PBR) used to grow Algae are cheap, easy and quick to build, and could be rolled out in every locality within 5 years, Algae produces Clean Burning Carbon Neg Bio Fuel, that permanently sequesters 1 Ton of CO2 from every Barrel, Algae used for waste water treatment would also permanently sequester vast amounts of atmospheric CO2. Many products are made from Algae, including Fertiliser, Nutraceuticals, Compostable products, BioGas, Carbon Neg Hydrogen, Electricity etc. ✊🏽🌻🌎

There is a book about Las Gaviotas, “Gaviotas: A Village To Reinvent the World,” written by Alan Weisman. I can’t recommend it enough, it’s an amazing, exciting, inspiring story. There was MUCH more than planting trees, and even that was multilevel, with finding necessary soil symbionts, adding species, and finding new profitable and sustainable tree products like high-quality resin for string instruments. Many vital inventions transformed agriculture, energy generation, health care, water availability, and so much more. (The Jimmy Carter White House had one of their solar collectors, but Ronald Reagan’s administration removed it.) It wasn’t just for the village itself, their inventions were for everyone who needed them and remain important today.

@@naturio-tv I accept that, problem I see and not just with this, but in general, is people think of Predatory animals as being more powerful, superior. That is perpetrated by people constantly being told by nature Docs etc that predators are at the top of the food chain. Simply cos they eat other animals, when really the opposite is the case, Frugivores & Herbivores eat nutrients first hand from plants which surely means they must be at the top of the food chain, Herbivores are bigger, more powerful, are more numerous, social & peaceful animals. Nature Docs etc give a v disproportionate impression that always favours Predators, which skews our perception of wild animals/nature, towards Might being best, that has social implications for us humans & society, but I won’t go into that here except to say humans wrongly think of ourselves as predators, superior, violent etc. ‘’While there are Slaughterhouses, there will be Battlefields’’( Leo Tolstoy)
