As a British/Australian who calls Romania home and has lived here for 5 years, I appreciate people trying to promote the place, but not on a cost comparative scale with other places, and saying the cost of living is still inexpensive and affordable. That is working on the assumption you are not Romanian and have a Western salary. Its all comparative, as its not actually that cheap for the average Romanian and although many make what is considered a good salary now locally, the average wage is still very low and things like benzina, GPL (Petrol and LPG), electricity, gas, are very expensive. The price of petrol and gas is dearer than in Australia, so maybe okay if you are an expatriate, not so great if you are on an average wage here. I prefer when people just give the special reasons for being here as, great people, beautiful landscapes, unspoilt natural areas, awesome history, strong sense of family and religion, great food etc. Also public transport is great in Romania, might not look pretty on the outside sometimes, but has one of the oldest and most extensive train networks in Europe that reaches all over the country, plenty of buses etc and in the main cities, you don't need a car, even though we all think we do lol.
I am Romanian and this is a dump from all points of vue: culture, education, medical system, political, people...everything is garbage/trash! Run away, I do soon😂
@@joenewontheblock2404 wow lol...foarte direct 😅..sunt bune si rele in toata tarile. Some I agree but to say your own culture and people, meaning everybody is trash, wow. Every country has idiots and arrogant people. Yes many things need attention still, like infrastructure and salaries and mentality has to change in politics to be for the people in a real sense, but again, there are good things here too. I know you have to do what is best for yourself Victor, but my hope is the new generation keep pushing for real change and don't all leave the country. But I understand...multi lucruri sunt greu. Closest thing would be "gopniks" or "chavs"...however, that is exaggerated, and I am afraid OP falls smack-dab in the middle of that stereotypical "culture".

*_Romania was Personally Blessed by God.... It is hands down the most Beautiful Country in all of Europe..._*
So many places of beauty it is hard to even know where to start. I like to start in Brasov, it is situated within several hours away from Bucharest, Constanta on the Black Sea, Bran Castle, Ski Resorts in Poiana Brașov, Transfagarasan Highway, Cluj Napoca, Timisoara, Sibiu, Oradea, Castle in Sinaia, and many more.
Can't see everything in 1 week, or even 1 month. Plan on extended stay or multiple trips. You won't be disappointed.
Romanian with English at end: România găzduiește cele mai mari păduri virgine din Europa.
English: Romania is home to the largest virgin forests in Europe. The Danube River runs through Romania, and the Black Sea Delta is a UNESCO Heritage Site. In fact, Romania has more UNESCO sites than any other country in Europe. More brown bears live in the Romanian Hills than any other country except Russia.
Romanians like to have fun. Vlad the Impaler and the Vampires are very popular and pranks are often played on visitors. When in Brașov, make sure you take the cable car to the top of Mount Tampa. The view is incredible, in one location you can see everything that makes Romania and Brașov so popular.
Also visit Brasov and Tampa Mopuntin at night. There is a huge sign that says "Brasov" and it is illuminated with many lights. It is Romania's version of the Hollywood sign. It is far bigger and brighter. You can even climb on a metal frame behind the sign or take a selfie in front of the sign.

The words "Romania" and "Romanian" come from the Latin word "Romanus" which means "citizen of Rome".
The word Rumanian came frome the word Rum,Rumu
Refers the area where Ruman people came from

You visited a quarter of Romania. You were actually lied to. Romania still has beautiful regions. Moldova. for example, where did the most brilliant people of Romania come from. In Moldova IASI is the second largest city in Romania. There are more regions like Oltenia with a history as beautiful as Transylvania where you were. There is also Dobrogea with the seaside Black. ROMANIA IS NOT THE PEPPER
#oltenilivesmatter
@djvoicu Black Sea si nu seaside Black. Seaside inseamna "malul marii". Marea Neagra se traduce Black Sea.
Wonderful and much appreciation for your interest in our country
Other video of actual Romanian living in Romania estimate the median cost of living at $1000 - 1500/couple. You are estimating bare $2000? I have friend nurse who live in Romania and get to save for eating out and vacations of a salary of about $1000/couple. Where are you taking your information?
News for the people who took geography lessons with the genitor in school: Romania is NOT an eastern Europe country. It is situated half way between the western(Iberic Peninsula) and the eastern(Ural Mountains) borders of Europe. The only relation to East is that Romania was part of the Eastern Comunist Block before 1989.
@@andramonica5477 Thank you for proving (like many others) the failure of Romanian educational system: we do not think, we take all the information as granted.
By geography books (from when I was in school) and measurements for western and eastern borders, Romania is situated exactly in the center.
Saying that Romania was an Eastern country could have got you a nice 3 grade.
Again, the same confusion: borders vs the comunist block.
hmm interesting..Chia nu stiam ty
@@andramonica5477 Romania is situated in 3 geographical locations, the only south east or Balkan is Wallachia. Central Europe doesn’t stops at hungry but it also includes the whole of Transylvania. Vlad Tepes is from Transylvania since he was born in Sighisoara but he wasn’t a ruler here.
There is a similar case of people calling Afghanistan mid-eastern country. It is actually part of central Asia.
If course it’s eat Europe 😂
Some images and culture things are plain wrong. In 1859 only two provinces united. I leave aside the part with Vlad Tepes and Dracula. Also, you do not get to call Romanians (or Mexicans or whatever) immigrants in your country and call yourself an expat in Romania. And Jesus, before calling places use Google translate and hit the listening button.
True that.
Good video but for you to say that outside Bucharest the public transportation its almost inexistent its a huge mistake.
We have great transportation everywhere. You never need a car to live in Romania. Inform yourself better next time.
Inexistent public transportation its in US where I live now (except big cities like NY); this is what I miss the most from Romania, that its so easy to get everywhere without to own a car
Not if you leave in countryside!
The international airport has a sign for buses but then you do not find a bus station you find five different locations for buses going to different places around the country. you have to grab one of people with a sign and tell them where you are going and they will show you that location to catch the bus that you need.

@@wenerr20 You are a true idiot, sorry- as you insult shamelessly an entire country stating that they are pickpockets or that they leave their country to Shengen countries (as only Romanians steal or move around other countries). Indeed, many years ago, it was an exodus of people emigrating in the western countries, and understandably - as we been under communism so many years, people emigrated out of curiosity or for economic reasons, etc. However, since we've become EU member, and the economy has strengthened , the trends has changed - Fewer and fewer leave the country and that, perhaps, for gaining professional experience abroad, or for learning another language, also there are a few of those who never have left their village and think that the grass is greener somewhere else. For the past years, more and more Romanians are returning home and the number is rising every year, in line with the positive changes of the Romania's economy. So, I would advise you to stop being stereotypical and ignorant, get informed before commenting here
@@wenerr20 Aaahh- why do British, Italian, German, Canadian, Americans etc leave their country and look for opportunities in other places? Why do people from Lyon move to Paris or those from Manchester to London? While that was the case years ago, these days many Romanians travel back and forth between different countries simply because they can - you know freedom to travel? Re pickpocketing - it's a typical idiotic comment from a prejudiced bigotted person. Do learn to respect other people if you want respect, and more importantly educate yourself prior to throwing insults!
Hi,
Just a simple question, if I may ask.
Is this video a guide for potential expats only, or it includes potential immigrants as well?
why would u want to immigrate to romania bud i live in it and i wanna run far away tbh
Is there a difference between "immigrant" and "expat" ?
@@Dan-pm4hd Theoretically there is no difference between expats and immigrants.
However, the word expats was invented by the British, because they feel that they are special and cannot/shouldn't be put in the same category as anybody else. This is just to differentiate themselves from the rest of us (the world).
@@bucium7 Yep, true. Not sure if you live here or not, but immigrating to Romania is quite easy from inside the EU and at the moment we're also sort of a tax haven with 1-3% income tax for LLCs and 5% dividend tax. From a financial standpoint, it makes a lot of sense to start businesses here.
@@Dan-pm4hd in theory an expat is someone who is expatriated (hence 'expat') by their employer to live and work in another country. I think we should start restricting the use of the word to just that.

The fortified church you see first is in Biertan. Cons - you can easily deal with every 'con' with some extra money. Warning: bears!! The fourth biggest population (after Canada, USA and Russia). Romanians are not racists. They are just fed up! Especially in Transilvania they lived with saxons, hungarians, gypsies, and god knows what other minority. Just treat them with respect, and you get back what you give. Greetings from a transilvanian saxon.
It's beautiful and your buying power is higher than the local population. The bad part is that government services are proportional with your ability to bribe the entrenched corrupt bureaucracy.
My wife and I live in Turkey. For $500 a month, we live above average and that $500 includes everything. Romania sounds like a very expensive country.
Turkey? a crowded country that will soon run out of water. Desalination will cost a lot of money and the costs of extraction from the sea will drive away investors.
@@david9749 Turkey is a crowded third world country indeed. And I can also believe that they can run out of water. Their natural gas system installed in tens of thousands of homes are designed to WASTE millions of litres of water daily. That is just one of the reasons why they are in trouble.

Your video would have better credibility if you would learn to pronounce the names of Romanian cities and foods. I hear a travel log but little to recommend living there as clearly you have little experience with Romania. I have traveled traveled extensively in Romania and worked with Romanian people. Indeed I was born there more than 500 years ago. Romania is beautiful and interesting but Romanian folks face many problems as well. Vă rog să vă faceți timp să vorbiți puțin românește și să aflați despre problemele pe care le au românii.
I’m an English speaker do you recommend learning to speak Romanian before living here?
Probably it would help, though in cities you'll always find someone that speaks English (at least enough to get by).
Not at all. Just show your ignorance and spit on the Romanian culture. Tell them: I moved to Romania to dominate you, to feel superior and have access to cheap women. Therefore I despise your language and laws and I will not learn a word of Romanian. See how that goes 😂
Correction. In 1859, only two historical regions united into the country called Romania. Those were Moldova (or Moldavia like I've seen in some videos on RUclips - incorrect though, it's Moldova) and Wallachia or Valachia or Valahia (in Romanian). Transylvania joined the country in 1918, after World War I.
Bullshit! You should take some lessons in history!

Genuine question:
Why do we call Americans or British people who emigrate in a different country expats while if someone from like a European country moves to the USA or in the UK they call them migrants or emigrants? Aren't these Americans or Brits who moved to a different country emigrated there? Which means they're emigrants or migrants.
Why the fancy word as if it would be any different than if for example a Romanian went to a richer country?
(Let's add that I'm Hungarian so English is my second language and even though I speak it high-level it can still happen that I don't understand the true meaning of certain terms).
Never thought of it like that. But good observation
Expat nowadays is mostly used for people that relocate to another country temporarily for a job assignment. They still pay their taxes in their original country. It’s not a legal term. The legal status for these people is “non-resident” in the EU. If they move and stay indefinitely, they are immigrants, but the legal term is “resident”.
I moved from Romania to Belgium for 2 years - I was sent by my job (so expat/non-resident, paid my taxes in Romania) and then decided to stay, so now i’m an immigrant/resident and pay my taxes in Belgium.
They are "expats" because they are considered superior to us. We are supposed to work for them, not vice-versa. I personally see them as losers. They failed in their home countries and try to move to Romania to cheat some naive people. See the Andrew Tate case.
Immigrants are expected to learn the language & assimilate.
Expats are permanent tourists. They live in cheap places off first world wages/pensions.

@@omi685 hungarians have asian roots it is true and we are proud about this fact. But we became europeans since more then 1000 yrs. Our ancestors conquered the slavic and german populations here.
@@bajuszattila2998 No, you are not European, you are Asian immigrants. Your ancient home is still in Asia, and Transylvania belonged to someone else before the Hungarians stole it away.
@@omi685 you have to learn a lot as I see or just feel free to belevie this gipsy bullshit.
It's pronounced Bu-kar-rest phoneticall ....
Why are you butchering the word Bucharest?? Never heard any romanian or any one else call it butcharest. Its more like "Bucuresht" (ş) in Bucureşti where the "i" is silent.
Great footage and commentary but almost every Romanian word is mispronounced.
The costs that you gave for housing prices and rents in the USA are a joke! When did you get that data,.1984? Or did you just make it up. You can't get a 1bdroom anywhere for under 1200. Typically it's 2000 plus for apartments and more for houses.
Based on the other comments, I'm wondering what in this video is true.
You can easily rent a studio apartment in Bucharest, the capital, with €250-€300 per month. And less than €450 for a much larger apartment.
You can build a villa with a pool for less than €150,000 in Romania.
Most important reason: The sweet and sexy women. Having had both a wife and a girlfriend from Romania, I can tell that this is the another reason for living in Romania.
Wife and Gf at the same time? Nice
joking, glad you like Romania!
can a westerner who has a small pension and a little money go and work there? maybe waiter at restaurant or teach english? for a little money on the side? A pension of $1000 a month is a good but if you can double that by working part time or off the books that would be fantastic i would think. Can you make the minimum salary in romania $550a month by working there as a westener?
Yes u can!
In small cities, you can leave decently with $600-$800 a month, again it depends on your lifestyle habits! Most pensioners in Romania leave on $250-$400 a month.
Romania no 1 ❤️❤️❤️
Thats what we need ?? Old people ??
@@GigiGhiba-dl7tg Nu stiu de unde esti dar Bucurestiul e deja plin. Curierii de la Glovo, din albi au ajuns maro si negri. Rar mai vezi un roman.
Saying that Romania is in the heart of eastern Europe its like saying that USA belongs to Europe lmao
