Spent a lot of time at that garage since my dad was an operator out of there until he retired and when the announcement was being made for the 111A I got nostalgia as I associated that route with the old 111 Pullman 111th/115th route.
111 Pullman 111th /115th was Born in 1988 started going to 95th Dan Ryan before it was Called the Red line When 103rd Stony Island was Born 1988 it used be 111 111th /115 th and 111 115th /111th out of Beverly Bus Barn 1949-1988 used go counter clock wise in a circle to Doty then back to 115th and end of the line was Chelsea place terminal in Morgan Park Neighborhood
103rd stony island born on june 26 1988 if wasnt for jesse jackson and cta workers at 77th working on 30 south chicago 27 south deering 14 south lake shore 6 jeffery and 6 jeffery local they all got tried of going to far to their routes to 79th vincennes bus barn to go to work and 103rd vincennes beverly bus barn from 1949 -1988 was the smallest of all cta bus barns so they had to move to bigger space
103rd/Vincennes garage is interesting, though from what I've read on Wikipedia, it's designated for nonrevenue vehicles only. However, we do have some news: in a matter of just a "few" years, we will be getting a new CTA bus garage.
@That Transit Guy cta Really need 2 new Really To replace Forest Glen and North Park make them Indoor and 77th Vincennes Aka 79th Wentworth or built a one to replace the Archer Garage on 31st street land in little Village
@@taiwanarnold5927 my dad said there was talks to replace 77th years back but it never came to fruition and it’s the oldest garage in the system along with North Park and Forest Glen, and I agree North Park and Forest Glen need to be indoor garages.
Awesome video TTG, glad to did some busfanning with you that day.
Thanks for coming with me, and can't wait for more electric buses in the future!
