    I'm a proud grenadian. I thoroughly enjoyed your review and you are very factual. I laughed out loud at your comments about the roads and vehicle rentals. It's been said if one can drive in Grenada he/she can drive anywhere in the world. LOL. You're welcome ANYTIME you your family and friends. God bless you.

    Great video, visited Grenada with my family 3 years ago and did many of the same activities across the main island as you. Hope to visit again some day and experience it again.

    Thanks for the great review. Two points, there are PLENTY of places to stay on the main island of Grenada from luxury hotels to renting a room through Air BnB! There are mostly British tourists because it was once a British Colony, we gained independence in 1974.

      Thank you for your comment. I wasn't trying to imply that there aren't enough places to stay but rather it's not overdeveloped and there are no high-rise hotels lining the beach like many islands.

    Really enjoyed and appreciated all you said the full Grenadian experience. I did tear my hair out deciding which island to see from NYC. I don’t know if or how you offer a tip where to stay. I was looking for a smaller hotel, on a beach with calm ( like Neil, Jamaica. Heaven), warm waters. I have a reservation on La Sagrette but I fear it’s minimal facilities. Doesn’t even have a hammock. No way no hammock. I could go on ( close enough to food/ restaurant where we don’t have to be dependent on our hotel. Clearly you can’t always get what you want. Hopefully, we can get what we need. Thanks so much for your video. Gail

    Would love to see a similar video about the island Dominica, which interests me based on your "Which Caribbean Island Should You Visit?" video and a little other research I did. The absence of cruise ships appeals. I prefer to stay a week or more (and scuba dive) and not be greeted like a cruise ship day tripper. Sadly, cruise ships ruined the once genteel vibe of my former favorite Cozumel, to which I will never return. Culture, history and affordability are more important to me than beaches. Again, I love your channel!

      I got robbed in Dominica last year. It was sad. But I’m excited to check out Grenada ! Looking for a place to live and start a food forest farm.
      In Dominica the government is so corrupt I hope Grenada is different. Bc the Dominica people were suffering with poverty :(

      corky dog I appreciate the comment. It will be interesting to see how this year's hurricane season will affect tourism to islands not affected (like Grenada). I'm sure people canceled trips to Puerto Rico, USVI, Barbuda and Dominica and booked trips to other islands.

    • @mariahutchings1
      @mariahutchings1 6 лет назад +2

      Hopefully they won't all descend on Grenada, although I know Feb is high season. We have booked our Airbnb stays though, so that's something sorted. We are big walkers so looking forward to catching buses and going on long walks away from the main beach areas. Thx again for your informative video.

    Grenada today has alot of hotels and guests houses and there is beachs around the island not only to the south of the island we have a lot of other stuff u can do. Grenada is not as wack as you make it sound.

    What about traveling to the island alone?... (Female traveler). Safe to visit?? 🙃

    • @GeographyKing
      @GeographyKing  5 лет назад +10

      When my wife and I were there, at no point did we feel there was any cause for concern from a safety standpoint, and we did a lot of walking at night in areas with few people. But we're also from the US, so anyplace other than Syria or Yemen will seem safe to us! The Caribbean in general can get a bad rap for high crime, but Grenada isn't one of the countries that leads to that reputation. It's certainly not Jamaica, St. Martin or Martinique when it comes to crime. But solo female travelers should always be a little more aware of their surroundings than men or people in groups. But if you're traveling solo in the Caribbean, Grenada is one of the safer countries.

    Hi,
    Just a thought I think that Grenada was at one time part of British jurisdiction and that is why there are a few more Brits than you would expect.
    If my history is correct did you guys(US) at one time have a stroll along the beach recently .
    Just a thought ,please correct me if I am wrong

    • @GeographyKing
      @GeographyKing  6 лет назад +2

      Grenada was under British control for a long time (until the 1970s). I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "stroll along the beach recently", but the US did invade Grenada in 1983. Unfortunately to this day most Americans that have heard of Grenada only know it for that.

    Hey, there wasn't much people around that time you went because people don't really go to the beach around December time due to the tide being high and the sea being rough most times. There are loads as of places to stay in Grenada. You can even stay at a stranger's place and be treated like a king or queen. Thanks for the review and you should come back around February, June, July and August.

    • @GeographyKing
      @GeographyKing  6 лет назад

      I guess being from California I didn't really think the sea was rough. I'm so used to choppy waves. I didn't word the part about not having many places to stay very well. I didn't mean to imply that there aren't enough places to stay, but that it's not all-inclusive resorts and mega hotels like many of the Islands have. I prefer the smaller places and guesthouses that you find on Grenada. And we would definitely love to go back!

      CaribbeanBabyLiyah I'm coming for carnival this year. Where should stay? Is it St. Georges, closest to the capital, what part? Can you circle the region on an image of a map? Can you give me landmarks on where to stay? Or point me to an Air B&B or Hotel?
      Help
      I need a Grenadian friend.....😳

    • @SabaMP
      @SabaMP 5 лет назад

      Natasha Richards-Watts St. George’s is the capital, but not sure if you will find anywhere to stay if you haven’t already booked accommodations. Places to stay are fully booked or the ones that are available are super expensive. If you don’t mind staying in the country area of the island, in particular the Parish of St. Mark’s, there is a small hotel called Sunset Plaza Apartments that might be of interest to you. Look for them on Airbnb. Good luck and have a safe an enjoyable carnival season! 🇬🇩
