This is an excellent example of when RUclips really creates intercultural value. I would never have seen this unless I traveled to Japan, which I can't due to chronic illness. I was mesmerized from the very start of how amazingly skilled these artists and craftsmen are. I would love to buy such a beautiful piece of fabric, so it could decorate the wall above my couch instead of a traditional framed picture. Please, make more of these types of videos.
This is one reason I am thankful to RUclips and the creators. This work is so beautiful and stunning, due to disability I will never be able to make it there in real life but seeing it on video is the next best thing. 😊
Incredible beauty from highly skilled artisans. It's an honor to witness a glimpse of the hard work, dedication, and mastery displayed in this art form. My only regret is that this video wasn't longer so viewers can truly appreciate the various artisans and skills used to create such glorious works of art. Thank you for sharing these videos on RUclips so current and future generations can appreciate and be inspired by these highly skilled artisans and their craft. Stay safe and be well.
As I observed this master craftsman using his beloved tools to make such a masterpiece, I kept thinking and hoping that the new generations dedicate themselves to continue on with this most exquisite tradition...
Sadly, the young generation’s focus and attention span is being destroyed by smartphone & time wasting social media. Craftsmanship required a lot of practice and patience to master. Without extreme focus, you can’t produce quality work like this, regardless of it being art or not. I want to be proven wrong...of course.
the younger generations need to pay rent in a job market that has been ruined by the corporate interests of older generations. And this doesn't pay rent. If someone young wants to be an artisan they'll be called stupid liberal and get told to study medicine or engineering.
@Zaynah Fiaz good for you Zaynah. Prove all the cynics and the system wrong. Keep art and tradition alive. Love it, pursue it, master it, whatever and wherever your passion for art and tradition takes you.
handcraft like this may cost you several grands to several hundred grands of dollars depending on how complex and sophisticated the process is. The price of a top class kimono made from these clothes could be eaqual to the the price of a fancy flat in Japan. They are basically pricy paintings. If you do buy fine art pieces then you shall understand the value of it.
That's not expensive at all compared to the profit margin that so many european "fashion" brands are taking for their mass produced garbage, that they manage to sell to dumb sheep primarily because of marketing. I bet that if those japanese artisans multiplied their cost of labor and materials with the same factor as e.g. Louis Vuitton multiplies with for their, that a kimono like that would cost the same as some country's GDP. An LV dress costs thousands of dollars, but takes minutes to make due to a lot of heavy machines involved. Now imagine a kimono that is almost- if not 100% handmade and takes several days/weeks to make... There are 10 080 minutes in one week... You can sit there and calculate what the right price for such an item would be by a "fashion" brand's standards.
This video was not long enough. I could watch 12 hours of these craftsmen and still feel peaceful and uplifted. This work shows just why kimono is so precious.
This is one of the most beautiful things I've watched. The level of craftsmanship and detail in every part of the process leaves you in awe. And the final kimono design paying tribute to every step and artisan, incredible!
I wish I could learn a little of this art form ...It is Such an eye soothing and relaxing art and textile... And so much patient artists... I am so much fascinated with Japanese art and culture... I wish I could visit this place in my life... Thankyou for sharing this video
I don't know why was this on my recommended, but I am glad it was! This was amazing, I was transfixed by the amazing artwork and artistry. So incredibly beautiful!
After I watched this I was so amazed that such skillful masters of artistic processes and materials exist. It is a pity that more people around the world don't know and recognise this beautiful clan of artists. Truly amazing! Thank you so much for sharing this, it is fantastic to watch!✨💗🙇🏻♀️👌🏻🎨💖 私はこれを見た後、芸術的なプロセスと材料のそのような熟練したマスターが存在することにとても驚きました。
I have watched this over and over again each time feeling more moved and inspired by the beauty, craftsmanship, elegance and mastery that is so evident in the entire piece including the beautiful music and editing. I would like to find music like this for my studio to work with in the background. Exquisite. 💁🏻♂️
Absolument fabuleux. Absolument magnifique.
E soprattutto ci vuole tanta pazienza.
I'd love to see the entire process in real time to beautiful music like this. Junkabella, have you watched Corning Museum of Glass's videos? They are very soothing and often last for an hour or more.
Absolutely beautiful! Artistic spirituality! I agree with Anna Maria Lassen: this video is a wonderful example of how RUclips, and internet in general, proves to be and great instrument for sharing culture, beauty and knowledge and to spread and be accessible anywhere in the world at a touch of click... Thank you so much for sharing!!!
I am really truly amazed by the patience of all the artists, artisans & skilled craftspeople who painstakingly and patiently carry out each intricate process segment. The number of expert hands the beautiful end product went through... Now I fully understand why these kimonos fetch the price they do.
i am so humbled by the skill of these master craftsmen that i feel like crying watching it, that is why the beauty of the end product will last generations and the value of it will be priceless as less younger generation will dedicate a lifetime to master this art.
Good morning dear, This is really fabulous art, for me it is really new things to learn from it. Thank you so much for sharing it with us here. God bless you Best regards Sarjit
This is hand-died silk for formal kimonos. They are quite expensive because of the time-consuming process and skilled craftsmanship. The tool to apply sweet rice glue on designs to resist other dye colors can probably be substituted by underglaze bottle for ceramics. The bottle usually comes with pin nozzle in 3 different size.

Hope you get well soon
Yes!!
I completely agree with you, I’m also suffering from a chronic illness which is One of the reason I can’t travel anymore.
Good luck too you.
I hope your health gets better. And yes, this type of videos also gives me a lot of joy watching it. What a highly skilled craftmanship !!

More of such skillful artisans is what this world needs. Amazing
Thank you very much!
That and people who appreciate beauty over phones:)
Don't you know, making a living as an artist , any artist, is very tough. Everyone likes to see these vidoes, but few actually support with buying.
Welther47, very true.
Yup 👌🏻👌🏻

Also this generation is poor and no one teaches them anymore. We have the patience and the will but not the means or the master to learn from.

Such beauty from Japan 🇯🇵🇮🇪❤️
This is why I live here. These incredible artisans have such a deep spirit. There are artisans in most countries but I love the Japanese way.
Wow! You are lucky!
This is simply amazing, I would love to purchase a yukata handcrafted like this.
Thank you very much. This "Kyo Yuzen" is made in Kyoto, Japan. When you come to Kyoto, please bring your feet as there is also a workshop.
I just want to be able to paint like this...
I’m pretty sure this would be used for kimono instead cuz it’s so precious

How much do they cost? It even has gold, i can imagine it more expensive than a wedding dress
