This was sooo helpful. I just got it and could not get it to work with my Sony a6600. On another site I had read that the radio button had to be used with non-Sony flashes so I used that and nothing happened...arghhh! When I watched your video I finally figured out that the camera thinks my Sony Godox 860ii is a Sony! All of a sudden it all worked. What a relief. Thank you!
Thank You this has helped me. I have had issues using their Controls. Really appreciate Your time. I like the Godox Flashes. With Your help I will now advance in using them,
Ive just had one delivered today. So far so good. Getting a second Godox 685, also have a couple of Neewers, a Sigma and a Canon. Now I can do flash arrays again like I used to with my film cameras. Love the manual cut down. Cooking on gas again re flash.
Definitely helped out a lot, thank you for this!! I have a Godox X1 hotshoe trigger that I've been trying to get working with my V860IIs for ages now, and never got them to connect. Now that I actually understand how the menu system work, got it up and running within a minute. Thanks again!
This is an excellent video. I just got a Godox v860ii, and this information is really helpful to me, filling in the vague areas in the manual, and more. Thanks so much for creating and posting this video.
12:10 only works when the v860ii is NOT in the hot shoe. Otherwise, this will not work in Master Mode and fire the other Godox flashes in the room. If you take it out of the hot shoe and use a transmitter, it will work. The Master mode is not available when the camera is in the hot shoe.
I have just started flash photography and this was a great tutorial! I have this exact flash with the trigger on my new Sony A7iii. I hope to get lots of use out of it ! Thank you !
Thank you for the systematic, thorough tutorial It definitely helped me! The only part I was stuck was syncing the V860ii(Sony) to the XPro (Sony) trigger. I could have used a bit more coaching there. I ultimately powered off both units and was able to synch them. I'm not sure if the powering off helped? Or if I was just pressing one button wrong. Also, changing channels was a bit tricky for me. I had one unit set to channel 1 and one set to channel 20. I would not have gotten these two devices to work without your tutorial thought. Thank you so much!
Thanks for the tutorial. Still having problems getting my V860IIs to be controlled by my X2Ts. I've got the strobe set to "Radio-Slave" mode, group A Channel 1. On the X2t group and channel are the same set. Wondering if you've worked with this combo and might be able to do a step by step tutorial? Thanks!
I use the same combo, just had a major issue as well , heres the solution; Make sure your in slave mode with the radio symbol in the top left corner not the orange slave mode with the thunderbold in the corner. So my question to @see It Loud is ... you didnt explain the difference between the 2 slave modes if im not mistaken... could you please advise?
Thanks for the helpful video on the flash. I’m having a difficult time using the X1T-s trigger with mine 🥴 Any suggestions on a good tutorial with the V860II-S ?
To correct you, you can control other Godox speedlights wirelessly regardless if they are the Nikon, Canon, Sony, Fuji etc versions. That means manually & in full TTL!!
thank you for this tutorial. Got it working finally. Only thing is I cannot change the mm from 14mm with dial, seems stuck but dial works for other things. Sure then net will help. Thanks again

Hello. Great video. How do you take off the RMT? I use it as a slave when I do weddings. I will set it like I'm suppose to then I put it on my camera and it goes back. Had some bad pics from it at my last wedding.
Thanks for this! Really helpful :) There's one thing I still cannot work out… Can the V860ii and the camera (in my case, an A7Rii) communicate wirelessly without a trigger? Or would I need an X1T or equivalent in order to use the flash off camera?
Hi, great video and easy to understand but i have a question please. Can you use the godox X2T trigger with the flash mounted on top of it and then fire a slave flash somewhere else in the room? I feel more comfortable if I can control both the on camera flash and the slave flash from the trigger. Thanks
Hi Kyle… excellent video… really easy to follow! But I’m having a rough time trying to get my Xpro trigger to fire the V860ii-S. I can get the 860 to fire my AD200pro in master mode, but I can’t fire the 860 in slave mode with a trigger. Any ideas?
I have the Fuji version but I still can't stop the V860 from firing when used as a Master and pressing the Test button to fire another flash like you did with the AD200 on your - great, informative and to the point, by the way - video. Is it because pressing the Test button would fire it anyway? I must admit I didn't try it with the flash mounted on any of my Fuji cameras.
To my knowledge - Hitting the test button will always fire the flash. Do you want to use this as a commander only? Or you want to test the light from another flash and use it just to trigger that flash - and still use the 860 in your lighting setup?
Excellent tutorial. I have a question. When i put my 860ii into slave mode, two lights flash on the front of the flash. Do i need tbose lights flashing? How do i turn them off?

+Nazim Contreras hey Nazim, I think I can help you out on this one. you can tell the flash to use a certain zoom or use Info from the camera. The top left button is the Zm/C.Fn button. You tap this and the zoom setting will be highlighted, then you spin the dial to what you want it to be. “A” at the bottom is for auto and 200mm is the furthest you can zoom in. I just pulled mine out to verify that you can do this in all modes and it looks likes it is ever locked. Please let me know if this helped, I’m happy to work you through it. Thanks for watching!
Hi Kyle, many thanks for the very helpful tutorial. I just bought a Godox V860ii-C, which I've mounted on a Godox softbox. I want to fire and control it from my Canon 50D. I do have a flash trigger on the camera hot shoe, but it's part of a Jenbei Caler studio flash system, so I guess I need to replace it with a compatible Godox flash trigger. What is the part number of the trigger I should buy? I'm particularly interested in using the V860ii-C in high-speed sync mode to freeze liquid pouring or powder pouring shots. Do you have any tips or another video on this technique?
Happy to help Peter, and thanks for reaching out. You should take a look at my video on the Godox X1 Pro - ruclips.net/video/kjJzut7_LqY/видео.html That is the trigger I use.
Hi Kylie, I really like your video. My question is, does the Godox V860 II have any light, lamp, or infrared that in darkness, for example? find the Sony A7 III at the wedding at the dance. Thanks in advance. Hi. Robert
Hi Robert, thanks for your feedback! That’s a good question - it does not have any modeling lamp or anything like that. It does have a laser focus system that is pretty spotty, especially with Sony. I have had intermittent success with the v860ii and my Sony A7iii. It may be a firmware issue or something... but I never needed it so I didn’t try to hard to get it to work. The V1, on the other hand, will fire the laser focus system almost every time I am shooting in poorly lit or dark areas. Either way, the beams will only fire when the camera is in TTL mode (because it has to meter the light and send that info to the flash). For whatever reason, I don’t think you can manually select to trigger the focus beams every time. I have heard that the focus beams on all Godox speedlights work much better on canon and Nikon... i am not sure why Sony just won’t work 😅 Anyhow... I hope this helps. And you have inspired me to make a video about Godox flashes, Sony cameras, and laser focus beams 👏🏻
Hello, thanks for the video. You are very familiar with the devices, great tips! I have a question and can not find a solution: if I am in slave mode and the flash is unleashed via the X1T trigger - the flash unit flashes red on the front at an interval of 1 second for the entire time. I am a real estate photographer, I have 6 godox 860 v II flashes, I am using the X2T to trigger my godox flashes.. I need to have more groups on the flash so I can set up each light for different output. the godox860vII only list ABC AND THE M. I am now using the groups ABC, and have rigged two flashes from another system to flash the 2 godox 860 vII. would really like to have more groups on godox flash so I can use only the X2T only.
Thank you Diane
Howdy Diane, thanks for your question, but I am afraid the v860ii only has 3 groups for 2.4ghz wireless 😕
