Yes, it is played everywhere! I was interested and just did some research :-) The Song has sold approximately 12 million copies over the decades since it was released. But it only reached No. 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart in early 1979.
Thanks for watching! The Village People: proving that sometimes the hardest part of being in a band is deciding who gets to wear the cowboy hat! 😄🤠🎤 Glad you enjoyed it!
It was the great pianist and entertainer Liberaci who stated that Popular Music is Classical Music with the boring bits taken out. YMCA is such a piece. In this sensational orchestral arrangement it is a Classic..
What a fantastic perspective! 🎶 Liberace indeed had a unique take on music. It's amazing to see how a pop song like YMCA can be transformed into a classic orchestral piece. Thanks for sharing this insight! 🎹👏😊

@@SvenHerold I would absolutely love to and funny you mentioned! I live in Edmonton, Alberta and saw ABBA 41 years ago, September 13th 1979 in Edmonton, on what they called "The Tour", it was an amazing concert complete with Swedish mountain background! My now 28 year old daughter is totally blown away that I saw them live. Cheers and good luck on attending and if this unfortunate world situation does improve, it is now in my bucket list, so who knows, and thanks for the information!

It sounds glorious in F!
Didn't even know that it is in F, Impressed that you could identify the key by listing only! What is the original key?
@@SvenHerold thank you! I think the original is half a tone above at F#/Gb

YMCA 2024, anyone?
Some things never go out of style! 😎🎶 Thanks for watching, glad you liked it!
Great set of videos altogether in the playlist. Quick question: how did you manage to capture the videos with hardly any shake or movements? :-)
Just a normal iPhone XsMax and a steady hand ... And some experience from my time as a TV journalist.
@@SvenHerold Ah, that explains it. Thanks
If you like this version of that song search for YMCA Gimnazija Kranj. That is in my opinion an even better version on YT

Whoever thought this Jimmy Carter era song would get resurrected?
Yes, who would have thought, right? :-) And isn't this version just amazing?
Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Young man, there's no need to feel down
I said, young man, pick yourself off the ground
I said, young man, cause you're in a new town
There's no need to be unhappy
Young man, there's a place you can go
I said, young man, when you're short on your dough
You can stay there, and I'm sure you will find
Many ways to have a good time
[Chorus]
It's fun to stay at the Y.M.C.A
It's fun to stay at the Y.M.C.A
They have everything for young men to enjoy
You can hang out with all the boys
It's fun to stay at the Y.M.C.A
It's fun to stay at the Y.M.C.A
You can get yourself clean, you can have a good meal
You can do whatever you feel
[Verse 2]
Young man, are you listening to me?
I said, young man, what do you want to be?
I said, young man, you can make real your dreams
But you got to know this one thing
No man does it all by himself
I said, young man, put your pride on the shelf
And just go there, to the Y.M.C.A
I'm sure they can help you today
[Chorus]
It's fun to stay at the Y.M.C.A
It's fun to stay at the Y.M.C.A
They have everything for young men to enjoy
You can hang out with all the boys
It's fun to stay at the Y.M.C.A
It's fun to stay at the Y.M.C.A
You can get yourself clean, you can have a good meal
You can do whatever you feel
[Verse 3]
Young man, I was once in your shoes
I said, I was down and out with the blues
I felt no man cared if I were alive
I felt the whole world was so jive
That's when someone came up to me
And said, young man, take a walk up the street
There's a place there called the Y.M.C.A
They can start you back on your way
[Outro]
It's fun to stay at the Y.M.C.A
It's fun to stay at the Y.M.C.A
They have everything for young men to enjoy
You can hang out with all the boys
Y.M.C.A....It's fun to stay at the Y.M.C.A
Young man, young man, there's no need to feel down
Young man, young man, get yourself off the ground
Y.M.C.A....you'll find it at the Y.M.C.A
No man, no man does it all by himself
Young man, young man, put your pride on the shelf
Y.M.C.A....just go to the Y.M.C.A
Young man, young man, are you listening to me?
Young man, young man, what do you wanna be?
Y.M.C.A....you find in the Y.M.C.A....
No man, no man does it all by himself
Young man, young man, put your pride on the shelf
Y.M.C.A....just go to the Y.M.C.A
Young man, young man I was watching your shoes
Young man, young I was down with the blues

Song finished abruptly .
This is how the conductor arranged the song for the orchestra. He chose this ending.
@@SvenHerold in fairness , it's not easy to find an ending to pop music when it's an orchestral performance .
