If you were to hand wash the sheets, then the solution would work. However, if you were to put the sheets in the washing machine, I would leave out dishwashing soap because it may turn your laundry into a foam party room! The hydrogen peroxide can also be replaced by bleach. And lastly, I would recommend adding the sheets only after all ingredients mixed well with water, otherwise some peroxide/bleach will leave extra white spots, which may turn into holes at the next wash. Ask me how I know haha

Interesting thought. I did not think of stains on the side being grease based. Originally I thought these stains are just particles of dirt embedded in the fabric from mattress being dragged. Next time I'll try adding more detergent to see if it helps. Thank you!

Hmm I was trying to figure out why and came up with some questions. What was the original color of your mattress? Could there have been a yellow dye in the cleaning solution (yellow soap) or the mattress stain (tea, marker)? What was in your cleaning solution? As I understand yellowing of fabric over time is normal as body oils and perspiration build up. Perhaps, your first cleaning attempt evenly spread the original stain making some areas appear more yellow than before. If that's the case, cleaning the mattress the second time should do the trick. I hope you can figure it out soon!
Great question! I don't see why not. However, you have to be careful not to oversaturate the carpet with water unless you have a way to remove extra water.

Great job on cleaning your mattress! I am glad some parts of the video helped you get started. Yes, I agree that baking soda stays behind in powder form if not rinsed out. The easiest way to get it out is just to vacuum it when it dries. But I am glad bleach worked for you! Clearly there are multiple ways of cleaning :) my way is not the only way, as bleach is an excellent disinfectant! Since doing the video, I have bought an upholstery (wet) vacuum to help with stain extraction rather than spreading, so I wholeheartedly support your decision :) I just know that not everyone can pull a hose through their window😂 great job!!
i’m sooooo confused!!!! i found a HUGE yellow stain at the corner of my mattress and i’m not sure how it got there?! also; i noticed my pillow that i keep by my feet and my bed sheets have been getting small yellow stains too! i’m not sure if it’s my cat or what! it smells like grease but i’m not sure how it’s getting there! please help!
Hmm How exactly small and big are these spots? My first two thoughts are either cat pee or some liquid. Cat pee can be tested by using a black light, which would illuminate the spot. However, cat pee smells strong and not of grease. The second guess is liquid, and this can be anything. If it's an older mattress it may absorb even plain water and make it look yellow. Yet again, this would not produce a greasy smell. Did you happen to switch from using lotion to coconut or olive oil maybe? I wish I could help more.
Yuliya Hardin it’s a big spot at the corner of the mattress! i just got it from Ikea so it’s brand new . and then he sheets have small spots too . i thought it was my cat but it doesn’t smell like pee, it smells like grease. i normally don’t put any lotion on so it’s not lotion, i’m just so confused as to what it is ..
@@ivonnemelendez6837 I think without seeing it (and smelling it?), I am out of guesses like you. And that corner is not by a window, which may allow pollen and rain to come in? I would suggest cleaning it and see if it reappears in a different size or location.
Yes, you can use bleach instead of hydrogen peroxide. Please dilute it according to instructions on the bottle though, because bleach is much stronger than hydrogen peroxide, ounce for ounce. Hydrogen peroxide comes prediluted to a safe level already, so it can be readily added to our cleaning solution.
@@jefry8393 Great question. Bleach by itself is very toxic, but it's even more dangerous if mixed with ammonia. There is no ammonia in baking soda and most likely not in dish washing soap.
You’re so cute and beautiful and funny. And this is the help i was looking for the small minor stains on my new mattress my daughter stain😩 it’s a rooms to go mattress, hybrid material.
Yes, that's the one. Baking soda can be used for baking and cleaning (it's a mild abrasive). As long as it does not say baking powder, which is mix of baking soda and something else.
Baking soda and baking powder are different chemically, so you lose out on some cleaning power. However, dishwashing liquid and hydrogen peroxide are still great cleaners, so I think you will see the difference!
No worries, just skip it. It's supposed to lighten stains. So once you wash the mattress put it in the direct sun (in front of sunny window or outside so sun rays hit it). Sun will do the same thing as hydrogen peroxide then.
I tried, but very less effective, but i used detergent very less, i will try to keep in sun light today, but before that can i add white vinegar as well and try?
@@Arhamkhanshark That's an easy one then! Just skip hydrogen peroxide. You may not even need the sun either. Follow the rest of the steps and I think your mattress will look great again!
Thanks, I had a used bottle of Hydrogen peroxide solution 6% from many years ago and Soda Crystals (for cleaning stains off anything in the house) and as soon as I spayed it, it stank a little like poop and I thought it’s normal and now that I finished it, my room stinks badly. Is that normal?
Good question. I had to look up soda crystals to see if there would be a different reaction. However, the solution you made seems fine. So it makes me think there was something in the mattress that released the smell once dampened. I would suggest washing the mattress again with the same solution, but adding some soap to help battle smells not addressed with the first solution. It may also help airing out mattress in the sun while it's drying (using hair dryer may speed up the process). If the smell improves, then I would wash a couple more times. If the smell does not improve, then I would wash with only water and fragrant soap. I realize it's a lot of washings, but some old stains can be a little tough to lift in one go. Just please make sure the mattress does not stay damp for more than 2-3 days, because mold may start setting in. I hope this helps.
Hydrogen peroxide is a bleaching (whitening) agent and mild antiseptic. You don't have to use it but it helps a little bit. To replace it, you can add white vinegar (just never mix vinegar and hydrogen peroxide, use one or the other). Don't worry about the vinegar smell - it will evaporate. The amount of vinegar can be 1:1 to water or as little as 1:4 to water (1 part vinegar, 4 parts water).
To keep from your arm from falling off just lay your mattress down flat on a firm / hard surface you can use cleaning products baking soda dish detergent small amount or your cleaning Choice USE your steam cleaner that you’d clean 🧽 a carpet with... much faster less work less time less mixing... and usually has heat you’d be able to sleep in your bed that night by the time it dries as long as you do it early in the morning plus the power of the bristles will pull all those nasty dirty stains out happy 🧼
I still have all three mattresses a year later and none of them developed any smell or mold. I let the mattresses air dry vertically for a few days before putting bedsheets on them. You could speed up the process by possibly using a hairdryer or placing the mattress in a warm location (sun room or outside). If the mattress has a pillowtop like the first one, it will take longer to dry than the one with a traditional top. Thank you for a good question!
There was no odor to the mattresses by the time I was cleaning them. What I should have mentioned is the actions I took before I was washing away the stains. First I sprinkled and rubbed the entire mattress with baking soda, let it sit for a day, and then I vacuumed the mattress to clean up the baking soda (making sure to get all crevices and stitches). This helps deodorize it and remove some smells. Second I let it sit in the sun for a couple of days. I could not take it outside, so I laid it in the sunniest room in the house, where the sun hit the floor. This helps air out the mattress (especially if it's outside) and bleach out some stains. Ideally, to sun-bleach the stains I would need to wet the mattress first. So to get the most out of the sun, I would recommend airing out the mattress, washing away the stains (like in the video) and then putting the mattress in the sun to dry. The baking soda and sun will help deodorize and kill odor smelling bacteria. I hope this helps you.
Next time less water you only need 1 cup water, 2 tlbs of baking soda and about 2 cups of peroxide and I recommend getting the strongest sold near you.
This video is 2 years old. But it saved my life today
I am glad it helped! :) Thank you for the nice comment.
My room isn't big enough for my mattress standing. Can I do it with the mattress laying down.
Thank you that’s cool
hey are you still alive? I like your content but will u ever upload again?
Can I use chlorox instead of hydrogen peroxide ?
Yes, you can use bleach instead of hydrogen peroxide. Please dilute it according to instructions on the bottle though, because bleach is much stronger than hydrogen peroxide, ounce for ounce. Hydrogen peroxide comes prediluted to a safe level already, so it can be readily added to our cleaning solution.
@@YuliyaHardin I was able to buy "Hydrogen Peroxide 6% w/v, Benzoic acid 0.01% w/v"
Is this OK too
@@jefry8393 Yes, it should be fine. It is stronger than 3%, so just add a little more water.
@@YuliyaHardin is there anything dangerous or harmful if bleach(clorox) is mixed with dishwasher soap and or baking soda ?
@@jefry8393 Great question. Bleach by itself is very toxic, but it's even more dangerous if mixed with ammonia. There is no ammonia in baking soda and most likely not in dish washing soap.
Can you use tide or gain detergent instead of the dish soap?
I used oxy clean gel which I consider a detergent so, yes!
So I did this right now and welll my
Room smells
Lol what can I do
You’re so cute and beautiful and funny.
And this is the help i was looking for the small minor stains on my new mattress my daughter stain😩 it’s a rooms to go mattress, hybrid material.
Thank you for such a lovely comment :) Were you able to get that stain out? I wonder how it works on the hybrid material.
Thank you how do you clean the sides of the mattress the stains
I have um cooking baking soda i think
Yes, that's the one. Baking soda can be used for baking and cleaning (it's a mild abrasive). As long as it does not say baking powder, which is mix of baking soda and something else.
Simply putting Peroxide in a spray bottle, is all You need. Fabulous results!!
Without anything else?
Peroxide alone didn’t work for me
I'm impressed by how fucking how you are good job keep it up
Thankyou I used baking powder and dish washing liquid it's awesome thankyou for awesome tips of cleaning
Nice!!! I am very happy the tips helped you :)
how many percent hydrogen peroxide?
The most commonly available one in stores is 3%. It should work.
Hi , I’ve used baking powder instead of baking soda by mistake. Will it matter ?
Baking soda and baking powder are different chemically, so you lose out on some cleaning power. However, dishwashing liquid and hydrogen peroxide are still great cleaners, so I think you will see the difference!
2024 here I'll be trying this today and I will keep you updated
Hi! I am glad you were thinking of trying this method! How did it go?
What if doesnt have Hydrogen peroxide? Cant find it in Here,
No worries, just skip it.
@@Arhamkhanshark Yes! White distilled vinegar will also help. What kind of stain are you dealing with, do you know?
Its a water stain on ikea mattress spring mattress
@@Arhamkhanshark That's an easy one then! Just skip hydrogen peroxide. You may not even need the sun either. Follow the rest of the steps and I think your mattress will look great again!
I believe that a wet/dry shop vacuum would help too.
@@YuliyaHardin thanks Yuliya :)
I would still steam clean the bed afterwards
If you don't have hydrogen peroxide what else can I replace jink can work?
What are the measurements of baking soda and dish soap with Bissell carpet cleaner

Did This Cause The Mattress To Mold Or Stink.
WHAT ABOUT DEEP INSIDE THE MATTRESS? DID YOU GET THE ODER OUT?
