Duncan is a BOSS! He made the job of tying all or most of Brupeg’s systems working together possible. You’ve impressed this Arizona landlubber immensely. You’ve touched people all over the world and through these videos will be remember long after you and I will be gone and how many of us can say that? Certainly not me.
Very cool to see it after all this time. Id be varying the rpms on the motor regularly tho. Constant rpms for long periods not good for run in stage. Congrats to you both. 😊
You speak of that board going from prototype to final. Who is going to build that one for you? How long will it be? I know the Tachometer is not critical with one on the engine but ... Great first cruise. I'm sure you enjoyed the coral mating season... The smell of their prowess ...
I've got a great way of cooking beans and broccoli. A Korean chef taught me this. It's nothing special just a way that never occurred to me and ridiculously simple. They cook perfectly every single time. It is an industrial kitchen type technique but works at home on normal stoves just as well. 1) Get a saucepan full of water boiling 2) Top and tail the beans, and cut the broccoli into small flowerets (they can't be too big) 3) When the water is fully boiling, dump the beans and broccoli into the water and on a high heat bring the water back to the boil. 4) The instant the water is boiling, drain the beans and broccoli and they're ready. 5) If you have lots then you need a bigger saucepan since the mass of water in a small saucepan isn't enough and the temperature drops too far to come back to the boil quickly. Because the beans and broccoli are hot they keep cooking after you've drained them, so they are never ever raw - the beans have a perfect crunch and the broccoli is not crunchy but perfectly cooked. Remember the broccoli floweret heads need to be about say the same width of your thumb. When you cut the flowerets off a bunch then you need to cut them down the stem a few times to get the smallish size. Not too small otherwise they over cook. You'll work it out. Now here's the thing, when you cook packet noodles you can chuck the beans and broccoli in the noodle water just before the noodles are nearly ready and you get packet noodles with some greens just like you get when you go to a noodle bar. If you want to spec the beans and broccoli up a bit cook some sunflower seeds in some olive oil then pour over the beans and broccoli then splash with some artery hardening full salt soy sauce. Another thing is just a squeeze of lemon juice, extra virgin olive oil straight out of the bottle and a grind of black pepper. In the end I just like them on their own. I never ever tire of them that way.
Dajeduc great name for a boat. Now you have plenty of spare time for crew & the add-ons. Doesn't that motor purrr no pun intended. Think the cat is in competition " who wants to be captain ". Bowen Mangoes were a favourate. You might be able to crate some north to sell. Paw paws also a favourite.
I think I just saw an episode on Project Brupeg where NOTHING was built. That's got to be a first. I've watched from the start - never missed an episode and I am really happy for the pair of you. Well done!!!!!!
There is something very satisfying about seeing the stabilizer wings deployed. There were so many episodes about them, and now they are happily slicing through the water. Congrats
Such a fantastic reward for staying the course for so many years. It'd be interesting to see the drag penalty the wings incur on the hull. i.e. a 5mm gurney flap on low level formula car can chop 1500-2000 rpms off the top an engine down some main straights. The stability looks fantastic
It is awesome to see you guys out on your first proper passage! What a journey it's been! You are all an inspiration! With all the new ports you will all be visiting please try to build the habit of wearing your PFDs when mooring or at the waters edge, if you end up in the drink it's no use on the boat!
Wow! What a moment! THANKS DUNCAN!!! So happy to see Brupeq advancing and moving towards the next set of adventures! Fair winds, and may the seas be calm at your back! All the best, M-
Wow Jess & Dame, I hope that sea state follows you all of the way up the QLD coast. That was the perfect boat test and all under the watchful eye of the grand guru, Dr. Duncan. Hopefully you are enjoying a bit of a rest up in the harbour after all of the sleep deprivation of the last few years. Cheers and fair seas. Tony
Found you guys via Dangar Stew, 4 or 5 years ago. I’m so happy for you. I have contributed a little to your success, but am prepared to give more when needed. Keep your chin up. Congratulations 🎉
Bloody hell surely you were in tears to finally get out there! Well done. We spent 2 years living on our boat in a yard and that was crazy enough. Even a year later I was enjoying every sound and smell of freedom. Well done. We saw you up on the hard years ago when we sailed through there. It's not easy.
Awesome! Have done that trip from Bundaburg to Gladstone a few times, brings back memories. And sitting here in Vic I'm able to enjoy that sunny weather we know so well, without the humidity haha
Such a big long journey to get your dreams come to fruition cant believe Ive been part of your story fur the last 8 yrs and looking forwards to your adventures to come
My cats were aggressive eaters and would push their food and water dishes out into the middle of the room, making 'landmines' for night travel. So I put some of those silicone jar opener discs under the bowls and they kept them in place. They would probably work to keep your cat's dishes from sliding about in big seas. One of those 'Key-Bak Mic-Bak Radio Retractable Tethers' would make sure your Mike wasn't sliding around on the helm and was always in the same place without fumbling for the latch point.
Great shake down trip guys. Duncan, have a safe trip home mate and thank you again for your massive support to this project. Gods speed my friend. Jess and Damo enjoy your time in Gladstone
Congrats on you first passage! One suggestion, put a chain or rail across the opening where the wing strut track is. Looks like a great place to fall overboard if the boat takes a roll or you trip on the coming of the hatch.
Jess Dame - That last part of the video as you approached Brupeg - I thought what a bloody good looking boat - It is a credit to you both and the amount of work you have put in - The journey has begun and us motley crew will be with you in spirit if not in person. I/we wish you safe travels and calm seas - Best wishes from Clay in the UK.
Congratulations on a Great Trip .... Have to say that the Motor sounds just so Sweet ..... Overall Brupeg has performed Flawlessly ... Wonderful to see .... Thanks for sharing it with US .... Cheers from ChCh, NZ
Congrats to both of you. I forget how long Ive actually been watching you guys I believe for over 3 years now I . I am a college student but love beiung on boats I would love to donate stuff to you guys but I am in the USA.
I have been following you from the start and I am very happy for you both! I am also very proud of your accomplishment, you both have stuck to your plan and it worked! Congratulations! Job well done! :) Scott
Well done all and Brupeg , very good video with so much going on I will have to watch it a couple of times I think . Lovely to see her back on the waves 👍🏻
When I first cruised the ocean on a few hour voyage, I defeated my seasickness by crawling into my bunk and sleeping. Same thing for animals I would imagine. After that, I was good to go!
How wonderful for you to finally point her north and get in some serious steaming. So happy for you. As you adapt to the new environment one challenge for you will be to figure out how to get better audio of conversations, to overcome the engine noise. I saw that you were wearing mics but it was still hard to hear what you were saying. Regardless, awesome to see a completely different background - the open ocean!
Yes audio is definately a challenge, The wireless mic's were dropping in/out (and you dont get any warning of this) so sometimes you have normal good audio and other times the other persons mic is trying to hear what your saying over the background noise (and a coulple of times both mics just quit altogether and you have silence).
You have done a brilliant job, you should also thank dangarStu for spreading the word in the early days, really looking forward to your further adventures
Well done…. All that preparation paid off. Very good to see your progress. I look forward to seeing you and coming aboard when you arrive in my part of the world, in our future. What a blessing for you all. David
We do plan to but this trip was regular ole diesel. Everything is step by step, sort the boat out, make sure everything works and then introduce the vege oil
I think a flir camera would make engine room checks way quicker instead of individually pointing at each item. Just a quick glance around to see any hotspots.
We do have the cameras to install in the engine room so we can do regular visual checks but we will always maintain the half hour physical check. It's just good practice to catch anything a camera would miss
@ProjectBrupeg sorry, I meant a handheld infrared camera. They make them in the same form factor as that temp gun but with a full color display. It's like predator vision in your hand. They also have a bullseye in the middle of the screen and will tell you the temp of that spot just like your temp gun.
Thanks Brian, yes we feel like we are just starting now. We have some pretty cool projects to do and the Navy wants to become more involved which is pretty exciting
Back where she belongs off shore. congratulations. I worked in refining for a while the domes are horton sphere's.a spherical pressure vessel used to store liquefied gases in industrial settings. They are often used to store liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), liquefied natural gas (LNG
Congrats! 🎉 More likely cyano algae bloom if brown red and super fishy stinky. Could be coral if around the 19th of November and smells more like reef than dead fish. Perhaps consider a thick poly rope from the gunnel to the water for puss to get back on after an accidental swim. Spam spam is a glorious thing, ham is quicker but spam is thicker.
I have watched BRUPEG from the start. To be honest, I feel like I am part of the boat and I live in Gladstone so I might make my way down the marina and check her and the crew out.
Yeah they worked a treat, we have a couple of modifications we want to do to them but its mainly about making them easier to use. (two new winches, Swap the cable to Dyneema, Change the bolting arrangement so its simplier and add some grease points).
After all these years of watching you working on Brupeg on land, it's really nice to finally see the boat in its proper element!
Very kind words indeed, thank you. Perhaps a little over stated, but I’ll take it 🥳😎
@ Earned, not overstated!
An incredible journey… Honored to have witnessed it for the last few years.
I am so proud that Brupeg has made her maiden voyage with out any incidents and all was well on board. Chuffed to bits for you guys.
Very cool to see it after all this time.
Id be varying the rpms on the motor regularly tho. Constant rpms for long periods not good for run in stage. Congrats to you both. 😊

Duncan has designed and had printed the new boards. Not sure who he went with in the end but I do know he was pretty thorough in his vetting process
You didn't leave the fish as a treat for the Ship's Cat? How very dare you! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Congrats
Its my new favourite position sitting in the door way watching the wings slice. Dame
Congratulations to both of you, after years of hard work you have done it!! We are so proud of you both 🫶🏻
I’ve been following you guys for the last six years. It’s so cool to see Brupeg out there, surrounded by water. All power to you.
Such a fantastic reward for staying the course for so many years. It'd be interesting to see the drag penalty the wings incur on the hull. i.e. a 5mm gurney flap on low level formula car can chop 1500-2000 rpms off the top an engine down some main straights. The stability looks fantastic
Hope it's not too far to the fish and chip shop and makes refuelling much easier.
I'd imagine, after all those years of work, you'd think she was a beautiful ride no matter what she felt like 😂
Congratulations on a job well done.
Just fantastic. Can’t begin to understand the emotions of leaving Bundaberg for the last time. Here’s to fair winds and following seas.
Well said!

Awesome maiden voyage, our maiden voyage was to Tasmania and the day we left the Gold Coast we ran into 3 storms all at the same time
Wow! What a moment! THANKS DUNCAN!!! So happy to see Brupeq advancing and moving towards the next set of adventures!
Fair winds, and may the seas be calm at your back!

Smiled all the way through but lit up when you said you were going to put the cat on the dog board.
At last, all at sea. Heartiest congrats. See ya soon Uncle Dunc.

Duncan looked really tired most if this, bet he sleeps on the plane! Nice shakedown cruise.
Awesome! Have done that trip from Bundaburg to Gladstone a few times, brings back memories. And sitting here in Vic I'm able to enjoy that sunny weather we know so well, without the humidity haha
I like the part where you realize your dreams. Be well.
Such a big long journey to get your dreams come to fruition cant believe Ive been part of your story fur the last 8 yrs and looking forwards to your adventures to come

FINE BUSINESS! Great to see those birds out in the wild! Dont have them here in CANADA! CHEERS from HERE!
1:34 "Lamb and drugs"
Yes please!
Amazing video!
Just one tip would be to get a small mic so that we can hear people talking clearly
how amazing. I wish I could double, triple like this

Great job getting underway! Cheers!
Great weather. Remember, no whistling on board ship. You'll "Whistle up a wind". Wishing you continued good luck !!
Y'all still doing veggie? Awesome to see Brupeg under power. Enjoy your adventures guys
We do plan to but this trip was regular ole diesel. Everything is step by step, sort the boat out, make sure everything works and then introduce the vege oil
@ProjectBrupeg I totally understand. good luck with your adventures.

Well done guys , watching this almost made me take my boat out of winter storage. off the hard and back in the water lol .. hi from Cornwall
Congratulations. Inspirational adventure. Thanks for sharing and best wishes.
Get the seasick things that go behind your ear. They work great.
I have watched BRUPEG from the start. To be honest, I feel like I am part of the boat and I live in Gladstone so I might make my way down the marina and check her and the crew out.
We are hoping to run an open day here, so we will put a notofication out on our facebook and youtube comminuty page when we do
Dear family,
The first journey of Brupeg over the ocean went very well
Such an amazing accomplishment. Im absolutely amazed at how much determination and patience it would have taken.
Glad to see the sea trails taking place . 😊
Awesome to see this video. Brupeg sounds good, the wings look like a resounding success too.
Yeah they worked a treat, we have a couple of modifications we want to do to them but its mainly about making them easier to use. (two new winches, Swap the cable to Dyneema, Change the bolting arrangement so its simplier and add some grease points).
Ran out of time to do an open boat, only had 10 years lol (I'm joking btw) bit emotional seeing u guys pull out for the last time, all the best u guys
Just amazing! Good luck to all.
