Ashley, noooooo, please don't leave us Soft Naturals in the dark😭I think you are the only content creator here on RUclips I found so far that has consistently given so many wonderful options for soft naturals! But on a serious note, of course everyone should be able to wear whatever they want without feeling that they "have to". I may be strongly projecting here because I think we are very similar in body type and even coloration. But I struggle seeing the strong juxtaposition of extreme yin and extreme yang in you. I don't see sharpness in your body. I am a Kibbe newbie myself and personally struggle with distinction between Pure Natural and SN. I still haven't found my curve yet (where is it🤣), but the width is there for sure haha I came to the conclusion that just Kibbe might not be enough because his system is strictly about the relationship between body and fabrics. which is why I decided to dive a bit into Kitchener's essences concept (Gabrielle Arruda has fantastic videos on that topic!). I think the combination of the two might give a more holistic picture. What I want to say is that your overall presence and mannerisms, the way you speak and hold yourself do not give gamine vibes at all. When I think about gamines, the words that come to my mind are something like "quirky", "jumpy", "agile". Naturals, on the other hand, give the impression of "relaxed", "at ease" and "calm" (esp. SN). As far as I understood Gabrielle's message, bringing together your Kibbe body type and your Kitchener essence(s) will give you pretty much next to perfect idea of your personal style. One more thing about the fabrics and draping - I read somewhere that when Kibbe was formulating his recommendations, the fabrics basically had zero stretch in them, which is why for accommodating width one needs to resort to drapes, pleats etc. Since nowadays we have tons of stretchy fabrics, if I understand correctly, any garment true to your body size that does not constrict the movements should be just as fine as a heavily draped one forty years ago. Anyway, good luck and have fun with the further exploration of the Kibbe-verse! Style is a journey and we discover new things all the time:)
haha truthfully after this video I am still very confused about my body type but the info you shared is helpful! I will still make SN videos because I think the modern version of some of those reco's suit well too. It really is a journey and I'm grateful for the support and feedback!

But personally I see you as Soft natural, I think these lines look best on you. I think some pieces in this video are unfortunately too restricted on you (but just my opinion). I am SN too and turtlenecks and mini skirts/dresses looks really good on me to! :)
Hahhaha Everything you said at the beginning up to "but I do have width. So, it made me.."- which is when I stopped to make this comment- is so relatable! Also, on a site I found that explained Soft Gamines to me very well, the face of the lady they used to represent them was a lot like yours. Hair, too. I ended up with Soft Gamine, today, after plugging in all my main skeletal attributes into Google Search and seeing what the AI Overview said. Then, I went looking for Betty Davis, as she is supposed to be the Soft Gamine above all others. And, I had no idea how much we have the same kind of figure shape. I mean, she is thinner than I have ever been, but the skeletal shape is spot on! The clothes she was wearing in all her photos are of the same type or recklessly similar to what I have worn and looked great in. Now, I am out and about learning about Soft Gamine because the only thing that site said that I am which Soft Gamine is not is related to my foot length. But, I walked a lot, while being overweight, so ...
This video is old BUT I am literally folding laundry watching videos on soft gamines (as ive recently been typed sg myself) and had to stop what I was doing to say that you look stunning in staccato lines, so flattering on you, small prints like the polka dot and feminine details like the high bow tie neckline are very in the realm of SG lines. I have been bouncing between soft gamine and theatrical romantic (self typed as well as the freely kibbe fb group) but SG lines just resonate with me more. You look great in SG lines.
Thank you so much for this comment! The video is old but I still do go between SG,SN and SC lines. Have you seen any of Ellie Jean Roydon’s body matrix stuff? I think some of it makes a lot of sense, sometimes even more than Kibbe. Worth checking out if you’re hunting for short/petite content :)
Kibbe style is such a journey! In my opinion I don't see gamine at all in you.. I think you look too classy and elegant for gamine outfits.. Have you considered being classic or soft classic? I think you could give this a try, too!
i think the hang up for me is that gamines are all about a juxtaposition of yin and yang. tomboyish, narrow figure. sharp + soft elements that are distinct from each other. i don't see that mix in her, personally. i'd be curious to see her in dramatic classic bc i think she has a fair amount of yang to her figure and she seems to gravitate towards polished looks.
@@welltrying I see classic element in You too (I wrote it in some past video), DC can be a good tip. I think a cool video idea would be to try on a few style recommendations for SN, SC, and SG. Like, compare a dress outfit, a pants + top, shorts + top, etc. for each of those Kibbe IDs all in the same video. But maybe keep each outfit type the same color/s so that we’re more focused on the lines and draping, if that makes sense. Update: Almost a year into my Kibbe journey and I finally decided to do a consult (with Our Fashion Garden) and I’ve been typed as a Flamboyant Gamine! @@welltrying I completely understand with being careful with what you buy. Yeah, I do prefer FG lines. I got a dress when I thought I was a SN. It’s a wrap dress with a deep V and it ends at my calves. It’s light and flowy and gives gentle waist emphasis. But I look and feel matronly in it lol. It drags me down. Separate and contrasting pieces (looser top + fitted bottoms or vice versa) and shorter skirts/dresses work a lot better on me. I have the same issue. Currently going with soft natural. Not sure if gamine is a strong essence or if my kibbe type is incorrect. Looking forward to more of your content!
Oh! Thank you for this. I’ve also struggled with SN silhouettes. I’m short with a short vertical but I have wide shoulders and rib cage (side zipper dresses are not my friend). Loved this video thank you!
On a side note, I think I have recently learned - still exploring this too- that I am a Soft /Deep Summer, not True Autumn or Bright Winter or Clear Spring or anything else I've ever been told. I’m not sure if you and I have the same body, but I initially started thinking I was SN for the “width” as well. By the way, I do not see “kibbe width” on you… your back isnt anything crazy wide that it stands out in relation to your body. I realized that I have width but not kibbe width and after exploring all the alternatives I have concluded I am a Flamboyant Gamine with a Natural essence, so sharp collars and quirky things are a no - the main recommendation is just break the vertical and mix patterns. I realized that it matched the clothes I am usually drawn to but never knew why! I also felt the same way about SN clothes “too drapey” “too big”… It was because while i have a “long vertical line” (for someone 5’3), and i am pretty wide (which FG actually can be!) but not kibbe wide, i am small! I think soft gamines are just meant to be more curvy, while flamboyant gamines are a little more squarey and have longer limbs.
also gamine discouraged me in general because all of the boards you see online for clothing recommendations are really really colourful and teenagey, but that is not what being a flamboyant gamine necessarily means. If you want to look into other FGs with more of a natural essence for reference, look at Zoe Kravitz, Penelope Cruz or Camila Mendes 😊 Good luck!

You seem to look better in more sharpness than softness. Your shoulders are prominent which is more common with FG rather than SG . I think you look great in the short lines and high necks. I also see more sharp lines than soft lines in your face too. Your arms and legs look a little elongated and i do see some sharpness in those shoulders x
As a SG I think you look like one also. The high necklines looked great on you. I still have to explore that one for myself as I have a larger bust and I've always tried to minimize by wearing V Necks which is not recommended for SG.

I think for the skirt you were not feeling, the pattern was great and the shape was okayish but it needed to be a little longer and a little less feminine in shape to be great for you. The Asian style dress that doesn't work, besides being a little too big, needs a jacket to break it up. If you were wearing a crop jacket with it, it would probably be cute. Though, I'd really love to see you in that style in something more like a medium sky blue color. I am not sure it would be right, but in my mind it is. LOL

maybe you should look more into essences. i thought i was soft classic but turns out i have classic essence however my bone structure is more soft natural. essence dictates the kind of feeling you give off however kibbe body types tell us how fabrics flow on our body, what is our foundation.
ooooh I have been taking a peek into essences a bit. Ive been told I have a classic essence as well. Now that you've found your essence/type do you have a particular place where you shop?
I think you're a soft gamine. Loved the outfit with the black top and black shorts, the one with the polka dot blouse and black shorts and the one with the white halter (you just have to find one that fits better, but the cut was a good one) The black dress was cute on you. (you have the legs to wear them) I'm also soft gamine but much older than you and even before I knew I was a SG I tended towards those clothes anyway. I cannot wear a dress like the black one I need the waist definition because I'm more of a pear-shaped woman so shift dresses don't look right on me as they add extra pounds to my middle which is the smallest part of my body.
Definitely not a SN in my view. SC or one of the gamines. 😊 I do think that the face is important as what we wear is set off against our face and the combination has to look harmonious to look good. Just my two penn’orth, but I think you look most harmonious in neat and tidy clothes, not too fussy or unstructured… What i find fascinating is that even when you wear a soft flared dress, you look elegantly cute rather than insouciant- the latter being the hallmark of naturals, IMO.
Hmm, I wonder if you are more gamine, because you keep saying a wide ribcage and I don't normally see that in soft naturals. I'm new to this, but that part of it doesn't really resonate with me or with anything I've heard about SN.
IMHO, the gamine lines didn't fit you. Sorry, just being honest. Your lines are too mature for them. I'm seeing Soft Natural. I don't see any type of Classic either. Gamines and Classics need color blocking. Color blocking looks bland on you. Also you need waist emphasis. SN looks great with waist emphasis. The polka dot top is not a gamine piece. It's more Soft Classic. It's too loose in fit for gamines. I'm a Soft Gamine. Soft gamines, in particular, need a combination of fitted and subtle looseness, not fully loose or fully fitted. I have such a difficult time finding clothes that have this combination. Most garments in retail are either completely loose or completely fitted. I think you're Soft Natural with a mixed essence, Gamine and Classic. I think that's what's confusing you. I know it's hard. I understand. It took me almost two years to figure out my body type. I eventually had to get help from other people. Lol. Good luck❤
Thank you for the feedback! I think you're right and as you can see, haha I am struggling. I think the essence thing makes sense and thats why I can't pin it down. I might have to get professionally typed eventually just to be sure. Thanks again for your comment and advice :)

You seem a soft classic to me.
I sah you old movie. Hose you find your coulor Typ. I guess you are a high contrast Winter. Kibbe types are difficult. I am still looking.
haven't found the color type yet, think I am cool toned but still unsure. good luck on your kibbe journey!
Not sure about your Kibbe type, but your coloring seems more summer than winter. I think the black is a bit too strong near your face.
Well, I think you're so stunningly pretty that you look fantastic in everything, but that's just me....
that is very kind, thank you!
My shoulders are wide and my head small. I have width
gamines need waist emphasis too?
I think your features are too balanced to be gamine.
