Thank you for your years of service and congratulations on your retirement! I have been quietly watching your Flosstube channel for a while and love all the wonderful projects you have shared. You have a wonderful color sense and I have enjoyed your color conversions! Thank you and wishing both you and your husband well with your new adventures withe Cedar River...
So nice to see you and all of your beautiful stitching again, Jody! The rose bush sampler is so beautiful! Loved seeing every wip and start. I never would have guessed firefighter, pretty impressive, you. Happy for you and your next phase of life. Looking forward to stitching on more Cedar River linen! xx
I don’t know how I missed this video, but it was like finding $100 in a winter coat pocket. Your stitching is so inspiring. Congratulations on retirement and your next journey with your new, fabulous business. Love, love, love your fabric, Jody. Look forward to meeting you in person!
Hi Jodi, This is Soozie I had lunch with you and Laura at Stitch Con last year! Congrats on the new adventure I wish you all the best! You have so many lovely WIP’s and I loved that you are showcasing your fabric, it helps us get a perspective on the color. So please do more of that in the future. I hope we get to see your Unicorn Tapestry WIP soon. I really need to pull the trigger on that design and the other unicorn one you showed. I love them both. When you get your new colors sorted out I hope we get to see them in a FlossTube soon. Great to see you back!
Enjoyed your video! Second time I’ve seen the Rosebush Sampler in a video today. Beautiful piece, so I think there’s a message there for me. Congratulations on your retirement! Thank you for your years of service!
I would've never guessed hat you are a firefighter! Congrats on your profession & retirement. I retired 5 years ago, best decision. Like you, it was planned, I just could not take the push & mental stress anymore. I left after 30 years, & not 1 person in management congratulated me or even thanked me for my years of dedication & service. I am enjoying my retirement. You definitely need hobbies to keep you busy. Cross stitch is my passion, & I also like to crochet. I am getting so much more done, as I was always too physically & mentally tired to stitch much. Your business & stitching will keep you busy. You have beautiful projects. Great progress on your WIPS. Enjoy your retirement! Marilyn
Jodi, I got super behind in my Flosstube viewing so I didn't get to watch this until today. Thank you so much for the shop shout out! I so appreciate it! I'm sooo excited for you that you got to retire! And I'm so excited to see what's to come from you! Congratulations!!
It was lovely to sit and visit with you this morning (via flosstube). Your stitching is GORGEOUS and inspiring. Your linen is also magnificent. *drool* Thank you for taking the time to share with us. Congratulations on retirement. Just from our brief conversation at Stitch North, I know you have touched many many lives. Those individuals were lucky you chose the career you did. Until next time, take care, be safe, and much love. xo Ps: the hashtag for The Ravens at Castle Kerr is #WeNeedABiggerMoatSAL - thanks for the inspiration.
Loved seeing all your stitching. The 46 ct projects have got me interested in trying to go small. Congratulations on retirement! From the outside looking in, I'm glad that you have this business to nurture and see what is next. I look forward to seeing your new colors and products.
I soo enjoyed seeing what you've been up to!!!!! Beautiful stitches!!! Your fabric is just Beautiful!! I have to decide what I want to order first! You should be very proud because it truly is wonderful!! Also, that pincushion that you received as a gift is absolutely amazing!! I don't blame you for not wanting to stick a pin into it!!!! OMG.....Perfect in every way!! I Love,Love,Love it!! It's a nasty hot day here!! Hoping you have better!! Take care! Happy stitching !! I will see you next time!!!!. 😊 ❤❤❤❤ Barbara
So glad to hear your linen business is doing well and you are enjoying your next career. Your stitching is always so beautiful to see - Ann Robinson on your arboreal is drop dead gorgeous - from the pattern photo I had always assumed the threads to be white!
Absolutely loved seeing pieces stitched on your linen. Also love the linen I received from you. Lovely linen. So enjoyed this video and looking forward to your next one! Be well.
Hi! First met you at PNWSS ;last Autumn. It has been fun to watch you grow your business and know you'll do a wonderful job. I, too, retired in my 50's from a job I loved (RN) with no regrets. Best wishes to you and your husband as you change paths and move forward. Hope to see you at PNWSS in a few months! ;0)
I thoroughly enjoyed this video! I’ve heard of your channel through Brenda and Laura’s channel and have just gotten around to checking you out. I’m sorry I waited this long!!! I learned a lot about the different silks and I didn’t realize you were Cedar - the linen dyeing company!!! I’m thrilled for your new endeavor and for your retirement! Congratulations! I’ve started to watch your previous videos and cannot wait to see your future FlossTube, and new linen colors ❤
Congratulations on retirement! I retired in 2021 and I find myself missing it, but love the decision I made. Give yourself the grace to figure out the new. I’m excited to see the new linen. I am braving new counts of linen and looking forward to placing my next order.
Retired, yay congratulations!! 🥳 I always had the idea of you working as a police officer or that you had a job in security, I don't know why , I just had a feeling.😄 I love your Rosebush finish, it's so beautiful! I really want to stitch that pattern one day. Our taste in movies is quite similar and the quote you used is brilliant, LOL. Great haul! 🤩 Take care! Joanita🌷
Your stitching is beautiful! Thank you for sharing. Love, love, love your Cedar River linens! I want to just drape Arboreal every where! 😂. It is the most beautiful color! And Overcast is my new fave neutral. Looking forward to your new releases. And congrats on your retirement and getting to focus on your business!
Love all your new stitches on your fabric and wish we could get is here in UK :) Wow Ann Grimshaw is beautiful and wow your pillow from Gwyneth is stunning - what a fabulous Welsh name! Great to spend time with you Jody - love from Wales x
I don't usually comment because I watch floss tube on my TV. But this one made me pull out my tablet. One, OMG your poker face in the past on what you did for a living could make the CIA jealous. Absolute last guess in the world would have been a firefighter, but now that you say it I can totally see it. Two, absolutely not the point of the video because your stitching is STUNNING, but best part of the whole damn thing was that blooper. I really needed that laugh! Three, I would love to know how many people comment and remark on the surprise of the firefighter thing. 😂❤
I never would have guessed firefighter, but wow, congrats on retirement! And good for all of us for having more of your fabric and more of you! With all the love! ❤❤❤
Tipping my hat in honour of your service, Jodi. So lovely to hear that you loved your career and also to see the possibilities that lie before you in developing Cedar River Linen. Wishing you all the very best in your decisions and life changes. Your rose sampler is absolutely phenomenal 😍I just love it! Blessings sweet lady.
New colors that will be exciting. I love all of the Aida that I have gotten from you. I stitch with it every day. I am glad that you are keeping things manageable for yourself. Thanks for your service as a firefighter. Those first responders hold a special place in my heart. They run in when everyone else is running out. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Your linen is wonderful and and you are very fortunate to be able to do what you love. I enjoy your Flosstube and lol I appreciate your humor and that you are not obnoxious. Thank you for sharing your love of stitching.
It was so nice to see you again! Thank you for your service! I had a feeling you had a very stressful demanding job. Cross stitch and the cross stitch community is very therapeutic I find. Your stitching is so gorgeous as is your fabric. See you soon ❤
Jody, first time subscriber! Really enjoyed your video so very much. Congratulations on retirement & launching your new business! Best Wishes growing Cedar River Linen!! Looking forward to stitching on your linen. from Kate O’Keefe
If I had a hat, it would be off to you. Thank you FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART for your service as a first responder. I’m so happy for you that you were able to retire to this new career which is going well. I’m near the opposite corner of the U.S. from you (in South Carolina), and I was able to retire early as well. What a blessing! All the best to you and your supportive husband! 🎉❤
So happy to see you again. Great content today. Congratulations on your retirement. I’m sure it was bittersweet, but in the long run you will be happy you made that decision. So happy Cedar River Linens has been successful! I am currently stitching French Flea Market Biscournu and am loving it. The colors are so soft. Two more flowers to go, then the back, which looks so fun. I don’t think anyone from our table at Stitch Con was able to attend this year except Angie, Tiny House Stitcher. I hope to be able to attend next year. I too retired and there are so many retreats I would like to attend. It is mind boggling. Take care, hope to see you soon. 😊
I grew up with a firefighter Dad and I chose to go into health care and did transport and rapid response along with bedside care. It was a really difficult decision to retire and it took some time to find new purpose. It didn’t involve starting my own business! A friend who retired after I did said she didn’t realize how stressful the job was until after she retired. It usually takes some time to find a new normal but you seem to be moving forward with new purpose! Congratulations on your retirement. Thank you for your service. Best wishes for continued success with Cedar River Linens! 🪡
Wow that rose bush sampler is beautiful. The yellow roses! I admire you and others who can create your own color palettes for established samplers. That is a wonderful talent.
Oh my goodness, Jody! How amazing for you that yiu were able to retire! Congratulations on starting another fun and interesting chapter in your life!! ❤
A FireFighter... wow!! So on top of all your other accolades you are a super hero!!! Happy for you that you can now live a more relaxed life and focus on beautiful linens and stitchy goodness!! Your finishes and WIPS are fabulous!!! ❤❤❤❤
Hi Jody, so happy to catch up with you, such lovely projects and stitching! Grateful to have met you and chat at StitchNorth, and you listening to my (maybe) overshare lol. Happy for your retirement to step into a whole new kind of adventure. Continued success as you wish, in ease! Until next time!
Great to see you again, congratulations on your retirement and your change in work firefighter Thankyou👏❤️loved all your finishes and projects, and linens, have a good week Thankyou for sharing 👍🇳🇿❤️🪡
It was great to meet you at Stitch North! Your projects are looking fantastic! Congratulations on your retirement and all the best going forward with this new venture!
Wow! Congrats on your recent retirement and what an amazing position you had! I also had that same conversation with myself before I retired at 58! Can’t believe it has been 10 years! The first two finishes you had are the patterns I chose at the second week of Stitch North that I would love to purchase! Looking forward to what you come up with next! Cheers.
Congratulations Jody! I never would have guessed you were a firefighter….😮 I managed a molecular diagnostic department for a big hospital so I found myself in a similar place with retirement. During COVID, I was stretched to the max and my mental health took a big hit. Luckily I also had the resouces…pension, etc….to leave early. It’s been year and it still feels weird not to go to work but I just lay down until the feeling passes. 😂 Your linen business should be very helpful during your transition….best wishes!!!!😊
So glad to see you again. I've always thought you were soooo cool and such a beautiful stitcher and now fabric dyer BUT you were a firefighter too!!! You are absolutely amazing and a beautiful human being!!!
Congratulations on your retirement! I retired after 32 years in the medical field and now I really get to enjoy my stitching! Thank you for your service. I graduated with several who became fire fighters and know the sacrifice. Looking forward to the new colors coming in addition to the beautiful ones you already give us! Best wishes!
Congratulations on your new adventure in life!!! I too had a wonderful shift in life this past October as my husband and retired too at what is considered a younger age. I can do relate with the conversation about quality v. Quantity of work and life. I’m almost a full 8 months into retirement and I’m loving it! I so can’t wait for new colors!!!!❤❤❤❤
Thank you for your services as a firefighter. We don’t say thank you enough to people in safety and security. You are making an investment in yourself and congratulations on that. Beautiful work on all your pieces. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the update, I really enjoyed seeing everything you’ve been working on. Congrats on your retirement and the success of your linen business! Looking forward to whatever good things you offer in the future. Happy stitching! -Leah Noel
Just another wonderful video. I have ordered some of your linen on two separate occasions. The first time I loved it so much I had to order some more. Congratulations on your retirement. I am at that 50 mark and have a job where I take call and lose a lot of sleep, and I completely understand. Would absolutely love to come to a retreat if you start hosting
Congratulations on your retirement and welcome to your next life chapter! I also retired at 53 after 33 years in a high stress Corporate environment. I've never regretted it. I have your linen in all offered colors so far. For the greenish one (starts with an A) I'm stitching a Modern Folk Embroidery design using Roxy floss. Some like antique wedding dress and the design is doves--Wings of Hope, or similar. Sorry, trying to remember off the top of head. Anyway thanks for another inspiring video.
Wow, you have inspired me to get busy on Miss Mary Ann Bournes, those birds are amazing. Congrats on your retirement. Your linen is wonderful. Wishing you much success on your second adventure. Take care.
Great to catch up. Congratulations on your retirement. A service job with weird hours definitely takes its toll. Thank you for your service. Can't wait to see what's next!
Wow I am blown away but this video, not just your stitching, which always blows me away, but your wonderful personal news as well! Congratulations, and yes you should do all of the things you mentioned as possibilities! Tell me when and where for the first Cedar River retreat and I will sign up.
Yesssss!🎉❤🌻🐝🌻 Your finishes are beautiful! CONGRATULATIONS on Retirement! I've thought it is the coolest that you kept your job on down low when it's such a awesome Job . 😊❤ #besafe
All of your new starts are gorgeous. Congrats on your retirement. I had decided you were on the police force, so happy I was somewhat adjacent to your actual career. My husband retired last December. He seems to have adjusted well, but I’m still not used to having someone around most of the time. Thank goodness it’s summer and golf weather!!!
Firefighter ... wow ... not at all what I was expecting. You are so well spoken just had imagined lawyer, business exec. Wishing you much success in this new chapter of your life !
Jody. You little badass. Thank you for your career choice and protecting us hoomans. Congratulations on your retirement. It’s well deserved. It’s interesting but now that we know what you did, I can see how the naming of your linens came to be. I love supporting your business. It’s become my regular linen of late. I’m anxious to see what comes next. I have a feeling we’re going to need to fasten our seatbelts. ❤ 🚒 ❤
Congratulations on the retirement. I would have never guessed in a million years you were a firefighter! You have made much smarter choices than me! Now having the business to grow and the freedom to decide "what's next" is going to be a fun ride.
Always love seeing what you're up to! Love what you did with Castle Kerr. Very intriguing day job revelation, grats on the life shift! Okay, I guess the mad rush for your linen has calmed enough, so, it's time I get my hands on some.
You do fine with your videos-never mind the months between! I love the chart with the big crow! I’ve seen it before but after seeing yours, it’s on the list to get kitted. Would you mind sharing what you did different with the bird to make the wing different than the body? I like the way it’s defined.
When you get the chart you'll see that the plaid is fairly simple to stitch. I simply replaced a few of the colors with shades that contrasted more brightly than the called for. The wing is charted at a slightly different angle than the body so it naturally stands out even with the called for floss colors (which are beautiful).
I missed your song😢. When I saw that Redacted thread I had probably the same thought as you did. ' Wonder if that thread was from test dyes to get the Colour right for Jacob's new chart'. It's a stunning chart and a beautiful coloured thread. So pleased to see a video from you again. The projects you're working on look amazing. I too have no LNS within cooee of me ( guess my country 😂) so find trying to kit for Au Ver A Soie very difficult. I don't have many myself yet and the colour charts on the internet are dodgy at best. I wanted to do Mojo Stitches ' Among The Roses ' with 100/3's but was finding it impossible. Eventually I found a shop (8hrs away) that kitted it for me. Turned out beautifully but wouldn't it be fantastic to spontaneously decide ' I want to do this one, I'll just nip down to the shop, get the thread and start today. '.? Ah dreams. Look forward to your next video.
Congratulations on your retirement. Thank you for your service. First responders have a special place in my heart ❤️ Also, stop apologizing for using your own linen. Why wouldn’t you? It is wonderful linen!
Wonderful to see you back. Since you love Dragons so much, are you familiar with Anne McCaffrey Dragon books. If not, you should check them out. The best Dragon series in our family's opinion. When I was in college, I worked in the campus book store. I suggested to the manager, he should stock her books (back in the late 70s). We could not keep them on the shelves. Take Care.
Congratulations on your early retirement from public service and successfully launching and sustainable business. I’m glad you’ve got some well needed rest. It was so happy to see that you made a video and showed so many lovely charts and WIP’s. Happy dyeing and Stitching 🧵🪡
"tiny" start? i think you mean microscopic! with Sarah Rinder sampler😂 and jacob really needs to stop or else my house is going to look like a shrine to him and his work. his SALs are amazing and instant classics to me. My family will be burdened with holding on to them for the next 20 generations.
Congratulations on your life shift. Retirement is a great life choice. Your fabric is wonderful and when I need more it is nice to know that it will be available. Another retreat in the PNW would be wonderful. We can use the advice to be safe!!
Hi Jodie - I absolutely love your fabric. I bought a 1/2 yard of albarium and it has become my new favorite. What fabric did you stitch Sarah Rinder on? I really didn't think the colors and pattern worked with the fabric it came with in the kit. Thanks!
Congratulations on your retirement. I’ve been chuckling to myself as I would not in a million years have guessed your profession. In knowing how private you were I was thinking some sort of social work or top secret government job. Great floss tube!
I just purchased the pdf pattern for IAB 1817 the Rose bush sampler. Would you share your silk conversion? Thank you. Enjoyed seeing all your projects!
I'd be happy to share, DM me on Instagram and I'll take a pic of my color list for you if you like. I really customized it to blend with the specific piece of linen that I used so keep that in mind.
Congratulations on your retirement, Jody!!!! More time for dying? New colors? Lord help my wallet :) Love your linen and commitment to sustainability. Thank you!!

Enjoy your RUclips . Love your fabrics. Beautiful stitching. Had to order fabric
Congratulations on your retirement! And thank you for the brave and important job you did. Looking forward to seeing where your life takes you next!
I love everything you are working on. Thank you
Thank you for your services as a firefighter. We don’t say thank you enough to people in safety and security. You are making an investment in yourself and congratulations on that. Beautiful work on all your pieces. Thank you for sharing.
Congratulations on Retirement!!! 🌻🌻🌻
I got my linen orders! Your linen is amazing! Thank you so much!
Your Aida is amazing! Thank you so much for not ignoring us step children of the stitching community . Can’t wait to see the new colors
Thanks for the update, I really enjoyed seeing everything you’ve been working on. Congrats on your retirement and the success of your linen business! Looking forward to whatever good things you offer in the future. Happy stitching! -Leah Noel
Congratulations! I am so happy for you!
Life isn’t easy working for the public but I’m sure you miss the comrade! Love your fabric and I’ll be watching to see what’s next!
That design with the big raven reminds me of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds.
Your fabrics are lovely. I plan to order soon.
It was such a pleasant surprise to wake up to a new episode! Huge congratulations on your retirement, and on Cedar River’s success. 💜
Always love seeing what you're up to! Love what you did with Castle Kerr. Very intriguing day job revelation, grats on the life shift! Okay, I guess the mad rush for your linen has calmed enough, so, it's time I get my hands on some.
Congratulations on your retirement! Glad to hear that business is steady!
Super excited for you and your next chapter! Looking forward to the new colors!
Just wow! Congratulations on your retirement and moving on with your linen adventure.
You’re the coolest kid in school.❤️❤️❤️
Congratulations on your retirement. Thank you for your service. First responders have a special place in my heart ❤️
Also, stop apologizing for using your own linen.
Take Care.
Yep, read them all when I was in high school. I'm surprised they haven't been made into a series or film by now.
Love the colours you chose for the plaid effect on the body and wings of the raven. Let alone the dorsal fin. Fantastic
Best wishes on this next new chapter- I’m sure you’re going to rock it! It was great meeting you at Stitch North!
Wow! Congratulations and best wishes on your new endeavors!!
You are so fortunate to have Threadneedle Street close by!
Lovely, thanks for sharing 😻🐦
Congratulations on your early retirement from public service and successfully launching and sustainable business. I’m glad you’ve got some well needed rest. It was so happy to see that you made a video and showed so many lovely charts and WIP’s. Happy dyeing and Stitching 🧵🪡
Oh and the choice of Aborium for the elven forest is perfect.
Hi Jodi! Your flosstubes are such an inspiration! I don’t think you mentioned which one of your Cedar River Linens you used on the HATS Sarah Rinder?
Thank you Teresa! I'm using Overcast for Sarah Rinder. : )
Hi Jodie - I absolutely love your fabric. I bought a 1/2 yard of albarium and it has become my new favorite. What fabric did you stitch Sarah Rinder on? I really didn't think the colors and pattern worked with the fabric it came with in the kit. Thanks!
I'm stitching my Sarah Rinder on 46 count Overcast (by me!). : )
Congratulations on your retirement. I’ve been chuckling to myself as I would not in a million years have guessed your profession. In knowing how private you were I was thinking some sort of social work or top secret government job. Great floss tube!
Congratulations!!!!
Congratulations on your retirement.
Congratulations on your retirement, Jody!!!! More time for dying? New colors? Lord help my wallet :) Love your linen and commitment to sustainability. Thank you!!
