Serious Exposure: Will Gadd's Alpine Ridge Adventure | Climbing Daily Ep 1454
Will Gad is hilarious! You should try and get him on more climbing daily epps.
Now we are talking, 5 star quality content, normaly is good content but, these is what a sign up for :D
Also mega shout out to the camera man!
Yes! Hugo or whoever shot this is the unsung hero of this story. I was sweating nervously because I didn't see a rope other than the one between Matt and Will.
More alpine stuff please! Beautiful route, looks busy!
More of Will! Such good energy with Matt
this is the best climbing daily video yet! More Will Gadd and alpine please!
I can feel Will's stoke through the screen! He's incredible! #sexypieceofrock 😂👏🧗♂️
That drone footage on the ridge was amazing!!
Sick climb, keep making this type of content!!
Wicked video, enjoy the Alpine climbs/routes 👍 stay safe 🙏
Pretty great climb! I'm sitting in a train heading home from a ridgeclimb caled Nadelgrat with four 4000m peaks, slightly tired, cause i am in ma climbingboots since 49 hours streight, seeing this and smiling. It's great to see other people enjoying to move through just a stunning nature and beeing so psyched about it. Love ya
From which hut do you did the Nadelgrat? Because most do it from Bordier hut but ot should be also possible from the michabel hut? Do you really need two ice tools for the colouirs like in the Alpine Momente Video?
That would help me a lot, cause i m planing to so the ridge in August. Thanks in Advance!!
@@vincentkrause7097 Hey man, i startet from a Biwak right behind the Mischabelhut. I had two iceaxes with me, but needed only one. The colouirs weren´t possible to climb, cause there isn´t any snow left. So we climbed to the Windjoch and from there the Nadelhorn-, Stecknadelhorn-, Hohberghorn-, Dirruhorn-Ridge and down to the Galenjoch. But at the Galenjoch we couldn´t find the way down to the Bordierhut, so we were forced to climb down on the left side on the Steintälli to reach the Europaweg to head down to Helbrigge. It is a realy long tour and we climbed it that way, couse my partner needed a place in the hut. And Bordier was even more overboked. The good thing was, the Snow in the upper part of the climb was rocksolid and the two harder climbingparts between Dirruhorn and Galenjoch could be repalled, but the bad thing was, that the more exhausting part were the climb down from Dirruhorn to Galenjoch. If i could climb it again i would make two biwaks, maybe the first one on the Galenjoch. Couse man, it is a fucking long way up there from the Bordierhut.
@@danielr.7137 thanks! Great effort! Gute Leistung 😎
@@vincentkrause7097 Aller besten Dank. Dir viel Spaß auf den nächsten Touren.
That looked absolutely bloody brilliant.
Love the background wind! Helps set the scene
Really great video!!! I really liked this style of video i felt like I was with you guys it felt personal and I could feel the PSYCH!!! amazing shots as well more videos like this!
9:05 Matt going for the crimp instead of the fist jam like Will smh :)
4:24 Matt, Aren't you afraid your chest strap stangle you ? :)
Ok, got it, you don't want the arc'teryx logo to be hidden. Advertising may be dangerous sometimes ;)
5:05 Matt: "Never known anyone with more stoke than me" The Truth.
Now back to that delicious drone footage. Awesome ep to everyone involved.
The thing I didn’t hear Will describing was how he’s basically using the rock as a belay device as he wraps it around a point and takes in the slack. So smart.
Virtually all the old, classic routes in the Alps were done with this type of "protection". The leader was pretty much on his own, hence "The Leader must not fall!"
This guy said the funniest shit with a total straight face lol
Will Gadd is my hero, if I live my life with half the amount of Stoke he has it will be a good time
Stunning episode!
Really inspiring stuff guys!
Incredible shots and great energy. Are there more video with these two?
Awesome vid! More of this.
Good commentary and production value!
Did this route with Gadd the day before :)
Will Gadd is a beast
alright ! A bigger route next time Will is around ?
It wouldn't be an epic TV Alps video without someone using a completely unnecessary technical tool with an offset handle
Can anyone explain/point to a useful resource which explains the rope belay method using natural features like what was going on in this vid?
Imagine a big ATC made of rock and you're 80% there
@@minime453 so using the resistance from the rock to control the belay, sort of like when you are belaying from a bucket seat and using your body to control the belay?
It's called terrain belay
most people go to spain and italy and stuff, but you go to places its cold
Fun facts, that route is literally on the border with Italy and France.
And on a day like in that vid, it can actually get super hot up there!
@@PSPmaster321 oh wow, I didnt know
Looks amazing! Whats the name of the route again? im out in Chamonix soon and wanna do it!
Awesome episode more alpine stuff please
Did you change shoes -- one pair for the glacier and kletterschuhe for the rock?
Does anyone know that the big spire is called at 11:03?
Dent du géant
What helmet is that ? Did not know red bull did helmets
Usually red bull athletes have the logo painted onto the helmet company that they are sponsored by. Is that way in moutain biking
looks like a black diamond vapor
Petzel meteor 4
Left the Valley (Yosemite) for the high Sierra after waiting in too many lines. Seeing so many on an alpine route is a bit discouraging. It is very beautiful, though.
But why use a rope at all? Seems like you are almost soloing it anyway, and the risk of being pulled off seems great if you are tied to someone. Holding the extra rope in your hand does not seem like it increases safety. Seems better to just rope up if you encounter a difficult strech.
Very nice video!
It like basic simul climbing, nur instead of the leader placing normal gear and Micro Traxion for breaking if the seconds Falls. In thisceasy terrain the rope runs through natural rock Features, Crack, rock horns etc.
@@vincentkrause7097: Looks scary and dangerous, especially with the crowds. But safer for the second, I suppose. Spectacular without a doubt.
Koalatea.
Do you think Will likes it?
Woow 😍
First
Cheating if you take a lift to base of your route. Closer to Disneyland than alpine climbing.
Poser axes.
You guys talk too much...
Truely...I couldn't make it through
nice vid like always
