@EpicNinja007was out for dinner with friends and one said its people like me and another friend who caused Halo to get cancelled because we couldn't handle it being different and that the show wasnt the same as the games Then use another character, or dont do the show at all, or actually get it right. People who jumped on the Fandom because the show came out telling the people who have been playing the games since the original release and read all the books that no theyre wrong.
Here is a small meme about reddit users: Reddit users newgen fans when their wife's boyfriend gives them a fallout Funko pop: m.ruclips.net/video/EzQiEOQ8nVA/video.html
@LordHarvno, flanderization is character specific when the character just becomes a caricature of themselves. Redditization is the dumbing down overly commercialized version of itself
I'm not sure what to do to make me hate the fallout show. I played through every fallout game starting with 1 15 years ago, yet I enjoyed the show. Why am I like this?
@NightBotPlus its fine to like/enjoy the show its just that most people who do like season 2 are basically making fun of fallout fan's for being well fan's and caring about continuity of a franchise that's like 20+ years old
@NightBotPlus no one has a problem with anyone enjoying the show, it’s more content in the universe you love that should be a good thing. It’s when fans bring up lore breaking writing choices and get attacked by tourists who will move onto the next popular media in a year.
Its mainly cause people get their content from tiktok shprts instead of actually watching it. Which is kinda weird if a supposed fan of something doesnt...actually watch it....
It’s amazing that people don’t understand why this happens? It’s Amazon, they’re a billion dollar corporation, you’re arguing with paid shills, bots or some poor third worlder being paid slave wages to glaze a show they can’t even watch in their home country
the only way to tell someone truly likes Fallout is if they're neither a grifter nor a glazer but BOTH. Because that's what Fallout is all about. It's all about how shitty it is (both thematically and gameplay-wise). I'm using the double entendre here with the word: "shitty" because post-apocalyptic worlds or ANY apocalyptic world or dystopian world are shitty and that's what I mean by shitty in its first meaning. It's MEANT to be shitty. For example, I hate FO3 for how boring and bland and oppressively nothing it is and I think it's great because of that. Because it translate to how lonely the Lone Wanderer must've felt wandering around the wasteland without knowing anything or anyone. FNV, it's an adventure. You're like in a zoo being a total tourist. It's also shit (not in a good way this time) but that's the whole point. New Vegas is one of the regions unaffected by the nukes because House prevented the *Fallout™* (get it?) in ever affecting Las Vegas. So the feel is also off. FO3 and FNV alone are bad, they're missing stuff and fortunately, the things they are lacking are what the other title excel at. FO4 is Bethesda's failed attempt at making Mass Effect and FO76, IDK. It's good multiplayer and resource for mods? IDK much about the lore TBH. Always felt like I'm playing a different game with references to Fallout. Interplay era is just your typical cRPG (Table Top style). It's ok. too. My only annoyance about it is the ghouls (in all franchises). The story is good though, dialogue and environment is great. Gameplay is lack luster.
@Rootigaif anything it increments it, the only way to gatekeep if it's something so disturbingly niche no sane human would go into it, example, the pedophiles that consume lolicon
After Amazon showed me an ad in my paid service I cancelled it and I’ve been pirating the fallout show, I don’t even watch because ei like the show, I actually hate it, I watch it out of sheer principle of giving the finger to Amazon
Honestly R&M got quite a graceful path, it's nothing like modern day Family guy and Simpsons, or modern Futurama. Sure it's not the same as R&M S1-3 but end of the day it's still recognisable as R&M and has arguably much more artistic value put into it compared to mass produced slop that the other series became.
Rick and Morty has been awful the whole time. The writing could be decent in episodes, but the entirety of the joke is "I'm loud and repeating myself!"
It's been rough with 343i, but the fucking Halo show absolutely shat the bed. Sad to see that some of the best made games are rotting because of greed.
More true than most realize. Without normism there'd be no holocaust, inquisition, anti-intellectualism or political debasement. Deranged tribes would have no power as they wouldn't propagate. Fallout and the arts are merely a minor example of this disease and how it corrupts civilizations, leading to their inevitable downfall.
@PolesAreEverywherenot really, first two games sold very well but there weren't really "normie" games back then. Ultima quake and doom were probably the closest thing to that, but gaming wasnt mainstream so its hard to justify that term
@PolesAreEverywhere not until 4 for example I played football and tried to get some of my teammates into new Vegas and they just weren’t into it but those same dudes loved 4 and now the tv show
I remember when the first season of the fallout show released my cousin tried to say that the show was "Lore Accurate" without playing any previous games in the series.
I didn't even play the old games myself (nor watch the show) and even I knew it wasn't canon. Apparently the Enclave is around in the show but I believe it collapsed in Fallout 3, no?
@c@chelsthegameruiner8669well, yes but there are enclave remnants in new Vegas and you can essentially reorganize and recruit them for the 2nd battle of Hoover dam. so if you chose to do so they’re technically still around, but their numbers at least in NV are small and again were dispersed unless you, the player, chose to actually want to recruit them to aid a faction. I didn’t really view that as “the enclave is so back”, though. The show seems to want it to be, though?
@chelsthegameruiner8669they get destroyed in 2. There are some remnants that appear in 3? Kind of unsure how they managed it since they’re across the country but I suppose we can assume that there were lots of based and their main base was destroyed in 2. There’s about 4 veterans in NV who can be convinced to give up their grudges and fight for the NCR, or can use those grudges to fight the NCR for the legion i’m pretty sure
@chelsthegameruiner8669there are enclave bases all over America, the duraframe eyebot project was meant to connect them all via a web of eyebot messengers before it was scrapped to prioritize the hellfire project, we knew the enclave was also operational in Chicago and Maine for example
@hehehehehehehe4332 nah GAMMA isn't that bad. Yes, the Anomaly fanboys expecting S2 to be GAMMA+ is ridiculous, but its nothing major, the divide isn't as bad as Fallout. Actually got into GAMMA first and playing through all the OG games as of now. Plus it's cool seeing modders making full overhauls, STALKER always had a strong modding community to me
@Blane811i agree that gamma is a fun game, but i still consider it an issue that gamma btfo'd stalker 2 and all original games of the trilogy so hard that the newcomers just... see no reason to play them. besides, gamma isn't what stalker originally really tried to be. well, yeah, in original trilogy you did explore the mysteries of the zone, but it wasn't a full on tarkov milsim. the shooting in original was also kinda basic. all in all, i do agree that fallout suffered a great deal more than stalker, but i still wish people would play the original first. stalker survived to this day strictly because of it's strong modding community, of course, but you should never forget that the trilogy crawled so the modders like grok and anomaly team could run.
Which is cherry on cake because Tim and entire studio were making of this statement in Fallout and Fallout 2, literally the entire Jet quest and squirell bits is twisted parody of capitalism.
@ExtremeMan10It still is not the main theme. It's about war. Just because there are prostitutes in New Vegas and Fallout 2 doesn't make the series about the abuses of the sex industry LOL.
@didelphidae5228 I was putting it as example, most Fallout fanbase aint aware of the Jet lore or how squirell bits were made. Which was parody of capitalism and how so many factories produce things we buy on daily basis yet rarely ask what they are really made off.
These Amazon fans are the equivalent of someone rolling up to a car meet and criticizing people’s fully restored classics because “you don’t get what cars are about” but have a crossover they don’t know how to change oil on.
“Yea whatever a 1969 mustang fastback is kinda cool but I just got a 2027 Challenger with the highest trim and a red detail on the rims, you guys wanna hear me rev my stock exhaust for 15 mins straight?
As a person who heard that Caesar line, as a person who studied Latin, it pissed me off when she made a smarmy answer like that. At that point I wonder why Caesar didn’t kill her immediately.
Seeing how he is in new Vegas.. yeah. He would kill her or at least put her immediately into slavery. Especially coming from a woman. He has to show his legion who is the boss. If a woman can do that it questions his authority. And both pronouncing of caeser is technically correct. It's a dead language after all.. although it's a discussion on its own. P.s I don't see women as inferior. The legion does. Nowadays it's better to clarify that.....
@Sup@Superschokokeks don’t need to clarify the women inferiority thing, I see it as redundant because nobody cares, and a lot of New Vegas fans only side with Caesar’s legion only to see what happens if they decide to be a villain. Personally I respect some of Caesar’s reasoning why he chose to model after the Roman Empire because the Founding Fathers of America took some inspiration from the Romans, but he should have dropped some of the Romans’s bad traits such as slavery and maybe he could have had a better faction than NCR.
@Metal_Snake06I never can side with ceaser because he's incredibly hypocrite who doesn't understand what he's talking about. The only thing that helds the legion together is brute force and oppression. It's like a surface level of roman cosplay. Nothing more. I just stop here because I wanted to compare it with NCR and I realised we could this discussed it forever. Point of new Vegas is .. well to have this discussion because every system is flawed because human nature is. Hence war never change but people do.
Well that’s fine, and that’s a good conclusion to come to that all factions are imperfect, you have to choose which evil is the best which is an unfortunate fact.
I took 2 latin classes in high-school YEARS ago and I genuinely still know more about Latin than these show writers. Like honestly at this point replace them with AI they deserve it.
Media convinced the world that theater kids/band kids were the underdogs and it was the mean evil Jocks that were the REAL losers who spoiled everything. Now we see the reality is the opposite; the theater/band kids take over everything they can and make it as lame and disingenuous as possible.
Warhammer 40k in a nutshell Look up how upset the community got when some of the designers said 'There have always been female custodes' And the community put them on blast with 1000 examples in lore proving the exact opposite to be true and instead of accepting they were wrong and the community knew better they hastily threw together a faction to say 'No see its always been a thing youre just bigots'
1 he's an (ex) powder ganger 2 even i love Yuri Lowenthal's voice work, Swanick's smug tone drives me up a wall 3 free bonus karma because of reason 1 4 the sheer irony of being one of only two survivors of a do-or-die lottery only to get merked by the first person you brag about it to. 5 if for some reason i feel bad about my decision, savescumming is always an option. Yeah i think it's safe to say that popping Oliver Swanick every chance you get isn't optional.
@releasethekraken5039 theres cut dialogue from a 2nd encounter with swanick if you let him live but the developers just fucking knew every player would merk him the first chance they get so they removed it. also you missed the main reason every player kills him, they assume he has money because he never explains what lottery he won.
@kobold7466yeah,first time I killed him I did it because I thought I was going to get some caps. On every other playthrough I did it because it's funny
My coworker has been playing New Vegas lately. He liked the show and Fo4, but didn't know any lore so he'd always ask me. I'd, at times, get frustrated and explain some of the retcons and how the TikTok theory he saw was made by someone who has clearly never played the game. My constant frustration eventually led him to buying New Vegas himself, because he was curious if the Fallout show really changed and deflated that much of the source material. The tutorial alone made him realize this was a very different game when a woman got mauled to death by geckos because he was too slow. Later, hearing an NPC describe "He's a rapist that likes to cook people alive," REALLY made him go, "Oh fuck this is a legit apocalypse."
@rockcaster1091 Warlockracy's Jagged Alliance 3 video had a great comment regarding this, _paraphrasing:_ The problem is obvious when a work or a material is succeeded by someone who's not a fan. But just because someone is a "big fan" of the material, doesn't automatically translate to a proper adaptation of it. Because the tricky, insidious aspect of this, is that someone could easily _love_ something, simply from its parts, not by the sum of it. With what happened with Jagged Alliance 3. It's clear that the devs ARE fans of Jagged Alliance 2, but they saw Jagged Alliance 2 differently than what it is as a whole. Just like the Fallout show compared to the og games and NV, Jagged Alliance 3 became a comedic war parody involving walking stereotypes as mercenaries, because those are what clearly stood out and made a lasting impression on the JA3 devs playing the original games; the mercenaries' eccentricities, and the comedic beats. They totally missed the part of the og JA games that the funny moments and details where...just that: _moments and details._ Not the focus nor the general overall tone. And that the eccentric mercs where the exceptions, not the norm. They stood out and are memorable precisely because they went against the usual roster.
So true for example the Maximus storyline should have been like The Penguin. Where he's a, I don't wanna use the word "piece of sh*t" because it's too strong, and he doesn't have to be completely evil, like Oz, but he does horrible things to survive and lies his way to the top. Instead we got some reddit nerd. Also Lucy being a pacifist could have been interesting, but they dont really do anything with it.
Making house a cartoon rich guy villain completely butchers the whole thing that made his character great. He didn't get what he wanted because he was rich and angry, he got what he wanted because he was smart, charismatic, and planned generations into the future with backup plans for everything. The man started with "what happens when the nukes fall?" and made it all the way to "and that's how I'll turn vegas into a thriving post war society existing in harmony with the rest of the rebuilding world". What actually made him evil is the fact that he tricked people into thinking he was rebuilding everything for anyone other than himself.
@bensmith8682 House is a villain because he's between me and controlling New Vegas. Just like Caeser's a villain because he's a midwit that read a few books and thinks that gives him the right to drag a bunch of tribals into a massive personal army, all for some misguided interpretation of ancient political theory. Just like the NCR is evil because it thinks I owe it money for the roads it can't be bothered to maintain or guard, while sending the money back home to the pockets of brahmin barrens. Every faction is evil because I could do their job better, and they actively seek to prevent that.
hes a great engineer and generally pretty smart, but thats about where his good qualities end his whole point is that hes a horrible sociopolitical figure but MAYBE he can actually follow through on his promises to help the wasteland, even if hes way more a needs of the many over the few type and too impersonal about who we steps over for his idea of progress hes morally grey at best, and all he does in his ending is give the ncr a relatively good deal and turn the mojave into an economic powerhouse even though they dont get good leadership
Its amazing, if they actually cared for the environment, they wouldn't support Amazon....but since Amazon means they don't have to go outside of their house to buy that 1 very specifc thing, they have to bare through it...*insert that face Amber heard made when she said her dog was stung by a bee*
@TyreseHillFootballI mean only time I get something off of Amazon is when I KNOW the local store(s) won't have it, like a hand crank bread/deli slicer
In fallout 2 your village faces a drought, fallout 3 Liam Neeson is trying to purify water in the Capital wasteland. While they struggle (3 water beggars to be exact) in fallout 4 you can just casually plop down multiple water purifiers
There will never be another good fallout game sadly. Fallout 4 was very questionable. I even hated leveling up in that game props to the devs that's really hard to do for a rpg. These massive bloated studios are just pushing slop with high turnover new hires, agenda pushing managers, and AI.
Also the easiest way to make caps in vanilla FO4 is slap down a load of purifiers and sell the water to everyone else. Just... ignore the apocalyptic shortages and and pull water out of your azz for money
@absent0470 they COULD have made the shortage feel real, an actual lack of circuits or "chips" that you would need to scavenge or manufacture if they wanted to make your progress feel real, but these were the same guys that designed the minutemen to use laser muskets instead of anything conventional.
@TyreseHillFootballits good but its not good enough for them to use the new Vegas lore, if you are going to use legacy content you gotta do it right or not at all
watched one hbomber guy video and now fnv is gospel. watched one oxhorn video and now fallout 4 is gospel. now i need one "fallout show is good" video and i can complete the trinity
The writers literally said in an interview "We didn't want to write anyone as smart, so we wrote them all as idiots." A show written by idiots, as idiots, for idiots.
honestly an old friend from high school (i'm 40) casually mentioned he was looking forward to season 2 a while back. i was kind of embarassed for him and we don't really interact much anymore
I'm 47, have played every major fallout entry, and still enjoy the show. I'm embarrassed for you that at 40 years old, you'd walk away from a friendship simply because you don't enjoy the same media. That's laughably sad.
@elel9640 feel like the reason this guy said "old friend" was cause it wasn't a present and continuous friendship in his life. I've technically "walked away" from friendships from high school simply for not caring about them much anymore lmao If it wasn't that though, based, finally a moral consumer that removes people who eat slop from his life (and doesn't try to justify their famdom by stating the media they've consumed)
@foreignuser_ that guys point is irrelevant because at the end of the day you are still a 40 year old man letting media enjoyed by other people effect your life, grow up brother
@Stranger-Than-Fiction77I mean writing hast been bethesdas strong suit, at least most of the time It’s kind of like doing something nice for your parent but that actually just screws them over
Lucy is one of the most insufferable Reddit quirk chungus characters I’ve ever seen. It’s impossible to take her seriously ever because all of her lines immediately break any tension in any scene she’s in.
@Pepsi_Master_Race No. That would be a defenceless mind. An open mind would be a fortress with open gates, but with guards and checkpoints/background checks.
You can't gatekeep it because you don't actually own it. Would it be nice if "the fans" could maintian Fallout the way it was meant to be? Sure. But that isn't even remotely the way it works. Fallout is at Bethesda's mercy, not ours. "Gatekeeping" is just cope without power.
Honestly curious as to how Amazon would rewrite a character like Joshua Graham or Ulysses with the other character's dropping Marvel quips every other line.
They'd have Ulysses be some sassy political black dude like the guy from the Snowpiercer show. Because that's really what he is. The more I grow older the more I realise that Ulysses is a bit of an idiot dick. The writing feels very Reddit. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense as well.
Joshua Graham would be turned into a raider which would be shot by the ghoul, completely ignoring the 9 END stat, his history and his armor and killing him in one shot. Ulysses would be killed as soon as he has any screentime since Todd has a hate boner for new vegas and can't rewrite him for consoomers.
Well either he'd be a screeching, preaching Bible thumper caricature that the ghoul shoots or Lucy would have the most shallow religious debate with him to tell him why she knows more about his area of expertise.
Creetosis has an EXCELLENT hour long video entirely about debunking the "Fallout was NEVER Serious" claim, its even called " "Fallout was NEVER Serious" "
@mathwilson No, he was the writer for Fallout 2. The first game was written by Mark O'Green with some input by Tim Cain (who was the project director and main programmer) and Leonard Boyarski - he only wrote the now famous line 'War never changes" if I'm not mistaken
@Zedjam Tbf, I don't even know if Cain is interested anymore with working on Fallout. I think he'd rather reboot Arcanum or something like that. Avellone seems to care much more about the series, but his false SA allegations have probably unfairly blacklisted him from the industry.
I recently became a Fallout Fan not because of the Show but because my Older Brother grew up loving New Vegas and years later I decided to give a shot and I fell in love with it immediately, and it was my first introduction to RPG's. I didn't even know the TV Show existed until very recently, and now I wish I never knew about it.
honestly despite its reputation you should check out fallout 3 too, it was my first fallout game but as some have put its feels like a very good fan game or spin off game. its lore has little connection to the main 3 west coast games (1, 2, and new vegas) while still introducing a lot of the base elements of the games correctly (super mutants, the enclave, the BoS even if they change their personality but still give you a reason why and give you a taste of how they are on the west coast with the outcasts) though its story telling and world building leave to be desired its quests, characters, and locations are very interesting and memorable. honest it is like oblivion with guns with all the upsides and downsides.
@shkwornev8sure its not amazing, its still very worth playing and fun to a new person, stop hating on peoples opinions dude, he simply gave a recommendation.
@vlumers Something in the middle is good. Don't completely barr people from coming in, but also keep out the outsiders. Like how a real border works in castles and territories. The problem is when tourists come into the community and try to change everything to fit their own image. They don't respect the original culture, but want to abuse and forcefully inject their own. Funny, because they're so PC, but they're also performing fanbase gentrification.
@ctrl_x1770 this is sexist, but idc. The issue is women. Even real women fans of something, always want to be "nice" and "tolerant" to protect people's feelings. We're seeing it irl with mass immigration. Just allowing anyone into their country because they think it's the "right thing to do". Gatekeeping is inherently mean, because you need to tell people with good intentions to fuck off, to protect your interests. Once enough women are given a voice, they become the entrance to a border that men build to protect their land. In this case, gatekeeping to protect an amazing franchise that they built from being turned into slop.
@navegandoporlahistoria this is the one critique I don’t get and I feel is just bitching. Lucy is from a vault where they probably have 1 worn to shit textbook on history, she’s not going to know the proper origins of Germanic or Latin words. I assume that scene is just supposed to be them poking fun at the pronunciation issues people have with Caesar and has been a running meme for NV for awhile. They just thought having history thrown in would make the scene funnier, which it didn’t.
@garbearfar1394 I think you’re misunderstanding the criticism. The issue isn’t that Lucy wouldn’t know Latin or Roman history. The issue is how the scene treats the Legion. In New Vegas, Caesar (Edward Sallow) was literally an anthropologist within the Followers of the Apocalypse who studied Roman history and Latin before founding the Legion. The Roman symbolism and the pronunciation of “Caesar” as “Kai-sar” aren’t random, they’re part of the ideology he deliberately built the Legion around. So when the show turns that into a joke about pronunciation, it reduces something that originally had ideological and historical weight into a gag. The problem isn’t Lucy goes full Karen correcting them. The problem is that the Legion is written like a bunch of guys cosplaying Romans who don’t understand what they’re doing, which is very different from how they were portrayed in New Vegas.
And actually, the pronunciation of Caesar in New Vegas isn’t really a meme though. Most wastelanders pronounce it the English way simply because that’s what they know. But Legion members are explicitly taught some basic Latin, which is why they use the classical pronunciation “Kai-sar.” Even educated characters like Marcus, or surprisingly Easy Pete, know the correct pronunciation. So in the game it actually works as worldbuilding it shows the difference between common wasteland culture and the ideological education inside the Legion.
I mean Rings of power isn't canon to LOTR, american deathnote tv show isn't canon, The boys tv show isn't canon to comics Why the fallout tv show is supposed to be canon? Because todd said so? Because todd has money? There's no devil may cry without Kamiya, there's no titanfall without Zampella, there's no star wars without Lucas, there's no vampire the masquerade without Troika. Wtf should we even consider this tripe as canon? Why are they supposed to have power over real art made by talented, experienced, inspired and skilled writers? Because of the license? There's no love for fallout there. There's no respect for fallout there. There's no passion for fallout there. Only opportunists and tourist trying to abuse recognizeable aesthetics to sell merch and push own stupid messaging which has nothing to do with fallout.
The way you think that is a good point is ridiculous, fallout 1 and 2 are garbage with over complicated game mechanics even removing all the menus would still require a much more in depth knowledge of the games potentials leading to it not being at all user friendly, the reason why 3 blew up is because it’s actually fun and doesn’t require a 40 page manual explaining game mechanics to play😂
Literally talking to some guy on Instagram whose telling me Fallout 1/2 and New Vegas aren’t serious games because there’s a few moments of levity and some Easter eggs all throughout the games so that’s justification for the writing of the show and Fallout 4. TND(Total Normie Death) NOW
currently watching the fallout tv series series 2 on my second monitor surrounded by vault boy funko pops, drinking my official fallout branded sunset sasparilla to this
Are you in fallout™ vault suit themed t-shirt? Where's your pip boy replica with official Bethesda stamp? Where's a second one in nuka cola colours? Fake fan!
New Fallout fans seeing the slightest amount of brevity in an otherwise serious story and concluding that the entire series must morph into Borderlands now. I swear next game you will have a claptrap tier companion.
You're thinking of levity; lightness of mind, character or behaviour and a corresponding lack of appropriate seriousness or earnestness. Brevity refers to conciseness and short duration.
I’m not anti-capitalist by any means but it’ll always boggle me how not only are some of the biggest mega-corporations so obsessed with pushing shows with even HINTS of anti-capitalist narratives (not so much a narrative but the ‘making an anti-capitalist movie line by Jonathan from Stranger Things felt so weird to me lmao like okay), but some fans especially Redditors seem to gobble it up like it’s the most REVOLUTIONARY thing of all time. Like do they not see the irony?
Welcome, brothers and sisters. First time, eh? As a Star Wars EU fan let me tell you that eventually the frustration and despair goes away and the void that’s left just stops you from caring. You’ll eventually forget the fallout universe exists altogether.
yeah, this guy pretending like he has a novel opinion while very obviously being a tourist himself is kinda ironic. Does he think Fallout 4 was authentic? Fallout 3? The problem runs deeper than the show lol. Like there's a reason people still make indie game sized mods for Fallout 2, and it's not because amazon made a show. Sonora, Nevada, Resurrection, Olympus, Dayglow etc etc all predate the show by a decade or more. Like there's a strong case for this phenomenon to pre-date reddit itself, if you consider Arcanum or AoD as attempts to continue the style and theme of the classic Fallouts.
@JRexRegis I've seen people whinning way back that FO1 and FO2 way superior compared to the recent titles. Looks like the guy in the video is a NV fan. It doesn't surprise me. lol
@NightBotPlus pretty much, appeals to the lowest common denominator and rounds off all edges to not hurt any feelings. Bonus points if you shallowly critique capitalism, Christianity, or any other social issue deemed appropriate at the time
6:15 I’ve realized this is a pattern when a company sells out and caters to mainstream “normies.” They will defend the most egregiously damaging additions to lore, gameplay, and general long-term health of the game because “I’m enjoying it bro. Why do you care so much bro? Just quit lmao, nobody’s forcing you to stay. We’re making more money for the corporate overlords then you ever were :)” These types of people don’t engage with the hobby like actual fans or people who genuinely have interest do. They don’t have the same passion or interest, so why should they care if it goes down the tubes? They can just discard it and move onto the next hobby to contribute to the downfall over. I’m not much of a fallout fan, but this is happening to something I care about (MTG) and it’s honestly so exhausting. We’re getting more IP fortnite crossover sets this year then actual original sets and fatigue is starting to set in and I’m pretty much done with it atp.
@toedCarnivore2 I know I made this comment on a whim and was a bit pissy, but I have seen the state of the community I was in (MtG) being afflicted by poor design choices and people actively coming out of the woodwork to shame the people who found it distasteful and/or bad for the game. I think using the term 'normie' was in bad taste for me. I don't like the terminology and just use it for 'mainstream audience.' I don't even think they're pushing these changes, they're just 'okay' with them, which is fine, I don't mind people enjoying the medium I like. Maybe it's just a small vocal minority getting to me. Idk. But I still maintain that these changes are bad for the franchise and the examples I've given I've heard repeated countless times whenever someone (usually big name youtubers in the MtG space) has criticism of the new changes and some of the potentially (and already) disastrous consequences they'd have for the franchise and playerbase as a whole. I've seen bad decisions in lore, gameplay, and management tank enough properties I like. I don't want to see another one sink further due to poor decisions for short term profit.
@TyreseHillFootball Don't expect anyone to give a damn what you have to say if you don't even care enough to write it out enough for anyone to understand.
For 30 years the lore was "China launched the nukes first because America was beating them on their mainland" and in the matter of one episode, the entire series was rewritten to be "MUH CAPITALISTS!" for no reason. The original creator of Fallout was banned from the Fallout sub after he tried telling people that the game was never a critique of Capitalism and was just a critique of war in general.
The franchise kind of shot itself in the dick with those excessive "easter eggs" in Fallout 2. I remember playing it and going "why the hell are these jokes popping up so frequently?" I remember the game being about body horror and how terrible it'd be to have no place to run from the environmental destruction and then all of a sudden it was about jester characters grabbing your attention. The series never really recovered for me, even when Obsidian did their TOTALLY SERIOUS take on Fallout 3.
Fallout 3 is.more serious than 2. Fallout 2 sucks ass but most people haven't actually played it so they just assume it's cool like fallout 1, which it is not.
I have never agreed so much with a title before. tourists are so self-centered and care more about liking a something thats topical rather than actually engaging with the material or other fans. this is why gatekeeping is a good thing. i'd even argue they're more like colonists than tourists because just like colonists they force themselves in, change and ruin everything, and then move on to the next thing. adaptations these days are more about pimping out beloved series to redditors than actually making something fans would enjoy.
The exact same thing happened to Warhammer, the original fans who built up the franchise get pushed out by tourists who don't care for the franchise they just wanna see their opinions affirmed in media
It’s interesting how people who would most likely hate Gatekeeping and the term “Tourist” immediately resort to questioning the legitimacy of one’s Fan status as soon as someone says they don’t like something. BAD: Man all these tourists are really annoying. GOOD: Real fans like the new stuff, not those “fans” who dislike it.
I conducted a survey on a few reddit subreddits (since they're the only place you can actually send people links outside of toxic discord servers), I literally had to create a reddit account to do it. The survey got 400 respondents and it showed that people who stated they had completed Fallout 1 were more liked to rate the TV Show a whole rating point (out of 5 stars) lower than people who didn't complete Fallout 1. And then for Fallout 76 it was the opposite, if you had completed Fallout 76 you were on average rating the show half a rating point higher than if you hadn't. It showed that basically every argument about people who "actually played the games" liking the show more was wrong and the biggest deciding factor for having a negative rating was completing more than 5 Fallout games. One funny thing that appeared as well is that people who said they completed every single Fallout game, Tactics, 76 etc. (only had 7 on the list) rated the show higher than people who only completed 1/2/3/NV/4. The people who were completing everything just licked up the slop. People who said they hadn't played Fallout (I had it posted in the tv series reddit as well) rated it all 5 stars except 1 person 4. (20 respondents).
"if you criticise it we won't get more!" Good? I don't understand franchise brain, I don't understand this mentality that you can't have a good game/film/whatever without there having to be an entire franchise of sequels, prequels, midquels, spin-offs, reboots and remakes all being stapled onto the original thing forever until even the original creator no longer cares or recognises it.
i hate the "dialogue was always like that" because my only knowledge of fallout is joshua graham and you're telling me the dialogue has always been that
This exact same situation occured with the Halo show. A bunch of pseudo intellectuals who knew nothing of the franchise hyped up bad writing and attacked the OG fanbase for not consuming the slop. "LET PEOPLE ENJOY THINGS!" "MEDIA LITERACY IS DEAD OMG" "OMG SHUT UP AND STOP WATCHING FFS" "Reddit-ification" is the perfect way to describe what happened.
8:56 It's not written fine, it was fundamentally broken when they introduced that the world was ended to that we can... sell infinite energy? To the survivors 210+ years later? The waffling on what ghouls even are is also super annoying - now we use this ghoul drug to keep the Ghoul cowboy from going feral? The set design is the absolutely best and is what got so many people on board with it.
The argument that it doesn't matter "because it's not real" is so dumb, you could apply that to all art, music, and literature, I get that its "just a game", but the Mona Lisa "is just a painting" if I wiped my ass with the Mona Lisa I feel people would have a few choice words.
Where you find out hes a serial r*pist, kill him, and then get one of his victims to attend trauma therapy? Thats not really a joke, pal - a joke about that sounds more like a fo3 paradise falls type of thing
@cooldudewithfreshdrip3113 I think that's the point he's making. A lot of people are trying to say fallout was always focused on humor and jokes, when it very clearly isn't.
My Favorite joke in fallout was in Tactics actually in Freeport where a slave cries and begs to be freed due to her being used as stress relief for the Raiders. Quirky!
Lifelong Warhammer 40k fan here, I've seen this exact thing happen to my favorite universe after becoming mainstream. Get ready for the most insufferable people to start coming in to your fandom and throwing baseless accusations around without understanding anything about the lore, all while the corpo suits make ridiculous retcons and water everything down to make it fit into more mainstream slop.
oh yeah, 20 minutes of pure show vitriol, thank you for your suggestion, youtube, I'm here for every second of it. I haven't watched all of it yet so idk if you talk about it eventually (and you prob do judging by the name), but my main gripe with the show, not just FONV legacy shat on, is how the show basically treats the lore of the games as a theme park while telling an unrelated bland milquetoast story. "oooo guys look its Victor memba? oo I memba. Ooooo a deathclaw memba? Ooooo I memba" The disneyification of fallout lore. No substance continuity, only decorations being reused. I stg, if Todd did NOT insist on this story being a continuation of canon: who cares? fine, do your thing, bethesda man
My biggest gripe with the show is that if they actually wanted to avoid alienating any fans, they could have chosen a different region, maybe the Midwest or Canada, and included some references to the games while keeping the fate of the existing factions as vague as possible.
THANK YOU! God, fallout is going the way of Star Wars, absolute slop until eventually the tourists find a new franchise to ruin, fallout falls to the wayside and the only people left in the fandoms are the actual fans who still remember when it was actually good, and the cycle repeats all over again...
@21SAVAGECLIPSCHANNEL everyone wants the marvel money cuh. there's a couple hundred millions dudes out there in the world prepared to eat a whole load of sloooop.
True. Fallout as a series has been pretty much cooked since 4 but now we have some of the worst people in the world invading the fanbase, which is all we have left anymore.
“real fans” theres no real or fake fans. people like you are the reason the fallout community is seen as toxic from everybody else. if you enjoy the games you’re a fan
I feel like this situation is getting way more aggravating every day, and not with Fallout mind you: but pretty much everything in the internet. At some point, I am almost sure that there is some big service with AI for big companies to run automated moderation / publicity campaigns in online social media, with some of these dramas also being manufactured to increase interetest in the stuff they're making. I don't know if it's the pattern-recognition working, but way too many fandoms from videogames / series that have this lame corporate feel keep getting the most weirdly die-hard fans for the new product in particular, to the point where you cannot criticise anything or they ram into you at full speed for no reason with the worst arguments _(if not outright banning you from discussion, if they can)._
The companies actively have sponsorship with the "meme pages". Fallout hub on socials literally gives out discount codes for Bethesda and amazon merch.
“aint no way you take the source material as canon”
that happens to Halo too lol
"we advise you to ignore your eyes and ears"
they always use the fuckass argument "lores meant to change tho!!!11!!" actual morons.
@EpicNinja007was out for dinner with friends and one said its people like me and another friend who caused Halo to get cancelled because we couldn't handle it being different and that the show wasnt the same as the games
Then use another character, or dont do the show at all, or actually get it right.
People who jumped on the Fandom because the show came out telling the people who have been playing the games since the original release and read all the books that no theyre wrong.
@Luuute Thankfully the Halo TV show isn’t canon.
Doesn’t stop all the shitty 343slop from being canon, but at least the TV show isn’t.
Fallout is a perfect example of “I hope your favorite hobby becomes mainstream.”
The modern "a curse upon thee."
It’s bad bros
A curse to rival the wrath of one thousand suns.
Fallout has been mainstream since 3 wtf do you even mean 😭
As if Fallout hasn't been mainstream since 3
The "Reddit-ification" is the perfect definition of slop.
Here is a small meme about reddit users: Reddit users newgen fans when their wife's boyfriend gives them a fallout Funko pop: m.ruclips.net/video/EzQiEOQ8nVA/video.html
Bruh nah
We used to call it flanderization but ok
@LordHarvno, flanderization is character specific when the character just becomes a caricature of themselves. Redditization is the dumbing down overly commercialized version of itself
Redditified and lgbtified.
I was so disappointed when i saw the ruined skyscrapers in shady sands, as shady sands wasn't built from ruins, it was built from scratch
Given that it quantum-tunneled to be in the boneyard after 2282, it makes sense given the new location.
*_”We should take Bikini Bottom and push it somewhere else!”_*
Btw 007 First Light will be Reddit's version
Yeah not only did they blow up shady sands they retconned the boneyard along with it.
@butidontwannahandle best comment
I hate how bethesda took "war never changes" and thought it meant civilization will never rebuild
I thought that's what Fallout 4 was? Rebuild civilization the game lol
slop defenders are the most annoying humans to ever arise from the dirt and they only seem to multiply daily
It’s Amazon, they’re a billion dollar corporation, you’re arguing with paid shills, bots or some poor third worlder being paid slave wages to glaze a show they can’t even watch in their home country
my most beloved gem turned to coal...
Nah bruh the show still goin?? wym cuh😭😭
They better turn that coal into diamonds fast
Acting like you’re not contributing to it by using those terms
based pfp
Blame Interplay and Black Isle
Tourism. Tourism never changes.
I like seeing you people get all hot and bothered by this it makes me quite erect
"Getting real tired of tourist season - no offense but you guys are lowering the bar."
the only way to tell someone truly likes Fallout is if they're neither a grifter nor a glazer but BOTH.
Gameplay is lack luster.
... you live in fallout? It's your native culture?
@wanderingbufoon I think you just hate fallout
Fallout: The Frontier is what you get when you apply this kind of writing to a Fallout game.
I would rather rewatch the show a dozen times then play the Frontier
I would rather replay the Frontier than whatch the show
Yin and Yang in the replies lmfao
I would rather play Fallout Pinball
Frontier was garbage, but it was still written better than this.
Gatekeeping is a fandom's natural immune response to bad faith actors.
Just call them tourists
It also doesn't actually stop anything
@Rootigaif anything it increments it, the only way to gatekeep if it's something so disturbingly niche no sane human would go into it, example, the pedophiles that consume lolicon
@Rootiga true these people see it as a term of endearment now I'm sure
@blackironseamusThat's why you gotta break out the slurs. Sometimes, you gotta be a bully to protect people.
Time to watch my anticapitalist slop show on the paid subscription service made by the largest global company in the world
Sir we have bad news about FO1 worldbuilding...
@DogThugger Wym, Fallout (1997) literally built the world we're all discussing today.
@DogThuggerwhat about it
I don't even know if it's anticapitalist when the show seems to be going the "NCR good guys' route. That would just make it more inconsistent.
After Amazon showed me an ad in my paid service I cancelled it and I’ve been pirating the fallout show, I don’t even watch because ei like the show, I actually hate it, I watch it out of sheer principle of giving the finger to Amazon
"You either die as a Smiling Friend, or live long enough to see yourself become the new Rick and Morty"
I stopped watching after season 2 because I realized how quirky and unique I was being by watching it
Honestly R&M got quite a graceful path, it's nothing like modern day Family guy and Simpsons, or modern Futurama.
@Frogdpg1season 3 felt so different. More about wacky sci fi adventures than deep character development.
Zach did the right thing. He knows its better for something to be remembered positively instead of driven into the ground after people are sick of it.
Now I truly understand how Halo fans feel.
It's been rough with 343i, but the fucking Halo show absolutely shat the bed. Sad to see that some of the best made games are rotting because of greed.
The last Halo game was Halo Reach, everything after that is a fever dream.
As a warhammer 40k fan you have my condolences, it’s gotten way worse for us.
@echohazmat8759At least the show had the decency to not be canon within the game's lore. The Fallout show went out of it's way to mess with the lore
@Christsaved_us Bruh warhammer40k is dope
Reddit can't enjoy something unles they can purchased Funko Pops of it.
No they can't enjoy something unless the story is pro communism so they can feel better about participating in capitalism 😂
Chuds cannot meme.
To boil this entire debate down into a single sentence:
Normies ruin everything.
I think it's more like
Normies have no soul so they cling like parasites to anything that has it
More true than most realize. Without normism there'd be no holocaust, inquisition, anti-intellectualism or political debasement. Deranged tribes would have no power as they wouldn't propagate. Fallout and the arts are merely a minor example of this disease and how it corrupts civilizations, leading to their inevitable downfall.
Wasnt og Fallout a normie game once?
@PolesAreEverywherenot really, first two games sold very well but there weren't really "normie" games back then. Ultima quake and doom were probably the closest thing to that, but gaming wasnt mainstream so its hard to justify that term
@PolesAreEverywhere not until 4 for example I played football and tried to get some of my teammates into new Vegas and they just weren’t into it but those same dudes loved 4 and now the tv show
I remember when the first season of the fallout show released my cousin tried to say that the show was "Lore Accurate" without playing any previous games in the series.
My friend did the same shit lmao
My greatest insult to someone is now:
"I hope your favorite thing goes mainstream."
I'm living in fear of the potential Netflix STALKER show, I can't have my precious cheeki breeki desecrated
@Blane811 i'm afraid stalker is already far too gone as well
gamma and it's consequences have been a disaster for the stalker community
@hehehehehehehe4332 nah GAMMA isn't that bad. Yes, the Anomaly fanboys expecting S2 to be GAMMA+ is ridiculous, but its nothing major, the divide isn't as bad as Fallout. Actually got into GAMMA first and playing through all the OG games as of now. Plus it's cool seeing modders making full overhauls, STALKER always had a strong modding community to me
@Blane811i agree that gamma is a fun game, but i still consider it an issue that gamma btfo'd stalker 2 and all original games of the trilogy so hard that the newcomers just... see no reason to play them. besides, gamma isn't what stalker originally really tried to be. well, yeah, in original trilogy you did explore the mysteries of the zone, but it wasn't a full on tarkov milsim. the shooting in original was also kinda basic.
all in all, i do agree that fallout suffered a great deal more than stalker, but i still wish people would play the original first.
stalker survived to this day strictly because of it's strong modding community, of course, but you should never forget that the trilogy crawled so the modders like grok and anomaly team could run.
oh and addendum... i didn't mean you should play stalker 2 it fckn sucks
The moment people started to unironically believe Fallout was about capitalism was the moment I realized Fallout was done for.
Brah thas wild cuh it kinda waz doe cuz dat guy whoz mades it waz woke😭😭😭
FNV definitely has some criticism towards capitalism, I wouldn’t say that it’s an anticapitalist game or that it’s the main theme of the game.
These Amazon fans are the equivalent of someone rolling up to a car meet and criticizing people’s fully restored classics because “you don’t get what cars are about” but have a crossover they don’t know how to change oil on.
Or an EV, that they will just exchnace at the deaership next year for the newer model
This comment is fucking perfect
That's why I pirated it hahaha
“Yea whatever a 1969 mustang fastback is kinda cool but I just got a 2027 Challenger with the highest trim and a red detail on the rims, you guys wanna hear me rev my stock exhaust for 15 mins straight?
Bruh wth u mean cuh u trippin🥀😭
When theater kids grabbing the wheel of your favorite nerd thing and gaslighting it was always like this.
Frfr cuh
Media convinced the world that theater kids/band kids were the underdogs and it was the mean evil Jocks that were the REAL losers who spoiled everything. Now we see the reality is the opposite; the theater/band kids take over everything they can and make it as lame and disingenuous as possible.
Warhammer 40k in a nutshell
Look up how upset the community got when some of the designers said 'There have always been female custodes'
And the community put them on blast with 1000 examples in lore proving the exact opposite to be true and instead of accepting they were wrong and the community knew better they hastily threw together a faction to say 'No see its always been a thing youre just bigots'
@Frizzle_Frythis is an underrated observation with implications waaaaaaaaay beyond the scope of this video
@Luuutealways call us bigots, never call us wrong
Knew Fallout was fucked when the show writer said "Fallout is a vibe". Get lost bro
It is a vibe bruh put on sum kendrick lamar and issa vibe😭😭💪🏿
@KSICLIPSONLYCHANNEL bro the GNX guy? defo 😂😂😂😂
hey alexa, put on Not Like Us from GNX 🍷🗿🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
But it is a vibe? Is it not?
I immediately had doubts when the first interviews were coming out and the show runner was saying that fallout is about the have beens and have nots.
@KSICLIPSONLYCHANNEL 😂😂😂😢
I still can’t take people that take this show as “truly a masterpiece in game adaptation” seriously. Also, I love this old aspect ratio
The set design/costume is really accurate to Fallout 76, I'll give them that. Everything else except Goggins' acting is shit.
@OCinneideI will admit Goggin’s has been and always will be a good actor. He didn’t deserve to be dragged through the mid ‘cause of this dogshit show
Only Cr1tikal fans think of that.
Todd got mad that a studio did a better fallout than them and decided to shit on it in the second season
fallout show isnt canon because i said so guys dont worry
Bruh but it waz good tho after playin fallout4 bruh it make sense
i believe you
Thank you
1, 2, and new vegas are canon. Gtfo Todd.
Thanks man
People will see Oliver continue to get blown up years later, and never understand the overall context as to why we do it.
1 he's an (ex) powder ganger
2 even i love Yuri Lowenthal's voice work, Swanick's smug tone drives me up a wall
3 free bonus karma because of reason 1
4 the sheer irony of being one of only two survivors of a do-or-die lottery only to get merked by the first person you brag about it to.
5 if for some reason i feel bad about my decision, savescumming is always an option.
Yeah i think it's safe to say that popping Oliver Swanick every chance you get isn't optional.
@releasethekraken5039 Even if you don't, that moron runs into the closest radscorpion and dies on his own minutes later.
@releasethekraken5039 I just let him run out into the desert and presumably get eaten by radscorpions
Like this series isn't a goofy silly amusement park, in the 2nd game Myron can drug and SA you if you're playing a woman with a low int score...
People need to remember Fallout it's an postapocalypse game WITH comedic moments
Not a comedy IN an postapocalypse
@rockcaster1091 Warlockracy's Jagged Alliance 3 video had a great comment regarding this, _paraphrasing:_
The problem is obvious when a work or a material is succeeded by someone who's not a fan.
@CatsOverdriveAhh, Karl Marcus, allways on point
@rockcaster1091 Bruh
The fallout show had so much potential but they chose the stupidest and easiest options with the dumbest world building I’ve seen in a long time
So true for example the Maximus storyline should have been like The Penguin.
@Koba_Strong322 "Lucy is a pacifist: here's her indestructible bodyguard to solve her killing problems" - the Fullauto show
Fallout could have been the next Andor if they cared.
@adriadelafuente "lucy is a pacifist. lucy has become a drug addict. lucy is no longer a pacifist."
@adriadelafuente She was a bargaining chip, you're talking like it didn't make any sense
Starting a petition for Bethesda to change the fallout tagline to "the world never changes" to better reflect their writing.
We can only make the same slop and our best writer left more than a decade ago*
fo real fo real cuh💪🏿
Making house a cartoon rich guy villain completely butchers the whole thing that made his character great.
He didn't get what he wanted because he was rich and angry, he got what he wanted because he was smart, charismatic, and planned generations into the future with backup plans for everything.
The man started with "what happens when the nukes fall?" and made it all the way to "and that's how I'll turn vegas into a thriving post war society existing in harmony with the rest of the rebuilding world".
What actually made him evil is the fact that he tricked people into thinking he was rebuilding everything for anyone other than himself.
If you think house is evil you’re not smart enough for this series
@bensmith8682 House is a villain because he's between me and controlling New Vegas.
Just like Caeser's a villain because he's a midwit that read a few books and thinks that gives him the right to drag a bunch of tribals into a massive personal army, all for some misguided interpretation of ancient political theory.
Just like the NCR is evil because it thinks I owe it money for the roads it can't be bothered to maintain or guard, while sending the money back home to the pockets of brahmin barrens.
Every faction is evil because I could do their job better, and they actively seek to prevent that.
hes a great engineer and generally pretty smart, but thats about where his good qualities end
his whole point is that hes a horrible sociopolitical figure but MAYBE he can actually follow through on his promises to help the wasteland, even if hes way more a needs of the many over the few type and too impersonal about who we steps over for his idea of progress
hes morally grey at best, and all he does in his ending is give the ncr a relatively good deal and turn the mojave into an economic powerhouse even though they dont get good leadership
@bensmith8682 if you think the main factions are not some flavour of evil i think you may be the perfect fan of the current state of the series
@NorthstarSystemyou don’t know what evil is.
0:56 I care for the heckin environment but I'll buy useless plastic crap that will end up in a land fill one day
Its amazing, if they actually cared for the environment, they wouldn't support Amazon....but since Amazon means they don't have to go outside of their house to buy that 1 very specifc thing, they have to bare through it...*insert that face Amber heard made when she said her dog was stung by a bee*
I will protest Ronald Drumphf green policies, but defend China, the biggest producers of contamination.
@jackalenterprisesofohio frfr
@TyreseHillFootballI mean only time I get something off of Amazon is when I KNOW the local store(s) won't have it, like a hand crank bread/deli slicer
I just wanted to play video games
They don't even play games. They just get jealous of you having fun, and want to take it away.
Tbh these "people" might be bots designed to shape public opinion.
Bruh jus say "ion like da show" 🥀😭
crazy how the first reply to your comment proved your point, considering "Tyrese" has spammed out dozens of comments under this video
I seen thing I recognized! I clap like a seal now for next slop I recognize!
Bruh ong bruh fallout 1 and 2 be better
@KODAKBLACKCLIPSMAGA you spittin facts, kodak
Admittedly Me during the first season 😔
Don't ask questions. Just recognize the slop and then get excited to recognize the next slop.
@FBI-OPEN-UPP the fact you recognize this and seem remorseful is character development.
@Ananda-Brahma Fallout London is the only reason to bother with Fallout 4. Otherwise, go play other Fallout games.
@ALocalLegionFoxfallout london is my fallout 5
0:15 If i saw a Bighorner do a goat yell i’d probably stop watching entirely
Every franchise I love has been slopified to the point that I’m honestly making my own fiction just to enjoy something without it being sold to me
bruh
tha tv show be gud tho😭
@TyreseHillFootballits good but its not good enough for them to use the new Vegas lore, if you are going to use legacy content you gotta do it right or not at all
I bought the copyright to your imagination and sold it to Amazon.
@TyreseHillFootball it's okay.
"Opinions downloaded"
says yo ahh wit da fnv support😭😭
watched one hbomber guy video and now fnv is gospel. watched one oxhorn video and now fallout 4 is gospel. now i need one "fallout show is good" video and i can complete the trinity
@KSICLIPSONLYCHANNEL and a googoo gaga skibidi cocomelon to you too, fellow conzoomer
@KSICLIPSONLYCHANNEL N
@releasethekraken5039Bruh i like Warhammer40k more
The writers literally said in an interview "We didn't want to write anyone as smart, so we wrote them all as idiots." A show written by idiots, as idiots, for idiots.
"Instead of having people be awesome, why not have them be dumb?" (c) Graham Wanker
People who worked on the Captain marvel movie who have never played a fallout game also
and obama was there and everyone clapped
@cinyeah4It is factual that they said that, tho, you can search it
It's not made to be enjoyed. It's made to make soulless flesh atomata point at the screen when they notice a reference
honestly an old friend from high school (i'm 40) casually mentioned he was looking forward to season 2 a while back. i was kind of embarassed for him and we don't really interact much anymore
I've technically "walked away" from friendships from high school simply for not caring about them much anymore lmao
If it wasn't that though, based, finally a moral consumer that removes people who eat slop from his life (and doesn't try to justify their famdom by stating the media they've consumed)
@b3nzayizkoolyo bingo
@foreignuser_ that guys point is irrelevant because at the end of the day you are still a 40 year old man letting media enjoyed by other people effect your life, grow up brother
They don’t hate fallout they just don’t understand it.
I'm tired of people attributing to idiocy where there is clearly malice.
@Stranger-Than-Fiction77I mean writing hast been bethesdas strong suit, at least most of the time
It’s kind of like doing something nice for your parent but that actually just screws them over
@Stranger-Than-Fiction77yea they are certainly trying to put in some love to the game but they don’t understand
Lucy is one of the most insufferable Reddit quirk chungus characters I’ve ever seen. It’s impossible to take her seriously ever because all of her lines immediately break any tension in any scene she’s in.
Gatekeeping is a moral obligation
indeed. gatekeeping is holy
*_A OPEN MIND IS LIKE A FORTRESS WITH ITS GATES UNBARRED AND UNGUARDED_*
@Pepsi_Master_Race No. That would be a defenceless mind. An open mind would be a fortress with open gates, but with guards and checkpoints/background checks.
You can't gatekeep it because you don't actually own it. Would it be nice if "the fans" could maintian Fallout the way it was meant to be? Sure. But that isn't even remotely the way it works. Fallout is at Bethesda's mercy, not ours. "Gatekeeping" is just cope without power.
@cichy-mw8qw Wrong, _an idea itself_ can harm you.
*_BLESSED IS THE MIND TOO SMALL FOR DOUBT_*
Honestly curious as to how Amazon would rewrite a character like Joshua Graham or Ulysses with the other character's dropping Marvel quips every other line.
They'd have Ulysses be some sassy political black dude like the guy from the Snowpiercer show. Because that's really what he is. The more I grow older the more I realise that Ulysses is a bit of an idiot dick. The writing feels very Reddit. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense as well.
Now I want to see that for all the wrong reasons lmfao. It'd be HILAROUS.
He'd be a CharIie Kirk caricature that then gets shot by one of the main characters
Normies ruin everything they touch.
Creetosis has an EXCELLENT hour long video entirely about debunking the "Fallout was NEVER Serious" claim, its even called " "Fallout was NEVER Serious" "
A serious drama can still have lots of comedic moments and still be a drama. Likewise, a comedy can have serious moments and still be a comedy.
@nickchavez720 js go watch the video big g
Explains why I’m constantly seeing tourist season lower the bar.
Dean Domino was right
@mafulafuyep
They turned Fallout into Borderlands. BORDERLANDS of all franchises... a fate worse than death.
I enjoyed borderlands before this same phenomena happened to it
if only there was an amazing writer who helped to create the first game who could take over for lead writer
You're not talking about Chris Avellone, right?
@mathwilson No, he was the writer for Fallout 2. The first game was written by Mark O'Green with some input by Tim Cain (who was the project director and main programmer) and Leonard Boyarski - he only wrote the now famous line 'War never changes" if I'm not mistaken
@mathwilson tim cain
@Zedjam K, makes a lot of sense then
@Zedjam Tbf, I don't even know if Cain is interested anymore with working on Fallout.
I didn't even know the TV Show existed until very recently, and now I wish I never knew about it.
my Mom who isn't even a Fallout Fan did like Season 1 but hated Season 2.
honestly despite its reputation you should check out fallout 3 too, it was my first fallout game but as some have put its feels like a very good fan game or spin off game. its lore has little connection to the main 3 west coast games (1, 2, and new vegas) while still introducing a lot of the base elements of the games correctly (super mutants, the enclave, the BoS even if they change their personality but still give you a reason why and give you a taste of how they are on the west coast with the outcasts) though its story telling and world building leave to be desired its quests, characters, and locations are very interesting and memorable. honest it is like oblivion with guns with all the upsides and downsides.
@kobold7466 stop that bullshit, fallout 3 is a shit game in every aspect but athmosphere
@shkwornev8It's not that bad. yeah the Game fells like a Linear spinoff but It has its good moments.
@shkwornev8sure its not amazing, its still very worth playing and fun to a new person, stop hating on peoples opinions dude, he simply gave a recommendation.
Gatekeeping is good actually
it always was. gatekeeping exists for a reason.
it definitely gets a bit much sometimes but im definitely missing it now
@vlumers
Something in the middle is good.
Isn't the German Kaiser taken directly from the Roman Caesar meaning emperor?
It is, but apparently the show runners can’t even google for basic history
@navegandoporlahistoria this is the one critique I don’t get and I feel is just bitching. Lucy is from a vault where they probably have 1 worn to shit textbook on history, she’s not going to know the proper origins of Germanic or Latin words. I assume that scene is just supposed to be them poking fun at the pronunciation issues people have with Caesar and has been a running meme for NV for awhile. They just thought having history thrown in would make the scene funnier, which it didn’t.
@garbearfar1394 I think you’re misunderstanding the criticism.
But Legion members are explicitly taught some basic Latin, which is why they use the classical pronunciation “Kai-sar.”
Even educated characters like Marcus, or surprisingly Easy Pete, know the correct pronunciation.
So in the game it actually works as worldbuilding it shows the difference between common wasteland culture and the ideological education inside the Legion.
yes it is
Lore, lore always changes. Rest in Peace, Fallout
People calling me a gatekeeper like I don’t consider it a compliment.
I used to think it was a blessing having a copy of Fallout 1 growing up as a kid.
Now I understand it was a curse.
Let go and begin again.
FNV was the send off the series deserved
the fallout meme subbreddit as of late has been a great example of this
What exactly do you mean?
R/fallout is hell
@anthonycruz8354 Same can be said for R/trueSFalloutL. It is basically R/gamingcirclejerk but Fallout flavoured.
It’s always sucked, it’s full of pansies who cry over the fact that New Vegas let you side with the “bad guy” faction
@qts941 They will accuse you of being a [insert overused buzzword here].
11:32 what the fuck is happening on my screen
I think its footage from an arg
if it wasnt cannon it would be way better
Bruh Y. After playin fallout 1 it makes perfect sense bruh
I mean
Rings of power isn't canon to LOTR,
american deathnote tv show isn't canon,
The boys tv show isn't canon to comics
Why the fallout tv show is supposed to be canon?
@Kreozot2D Bruh wym whos da tourists ion kno and ain nobody tellin me cuh
It should be canon because it makes sense bruh u jus dont want tha series to change
@KSICLIPSONLYCHANNEL no it doesn't make any sense, if you knew the lore even a little you wouldn't say that.
Holy based i never even knew Coolea liked Fallout, thanks for spreading the word about the fall of one of sci fi's greatest franchises.
Ong i gotta put this on at the cookout😭😭😭
I used to be against gatekeeping but honestly most of the time its the only way to preserve what you love
*"Getting real tired of tourist season, no offense, but you guys are lowering the bar"*
8:20 what pisses me off more abt it is that they dont even say it like kaiser, KaiZer. It's pronounced like Caesar, KaiSaar. and thats how they say it
14:16 "surge of popularity could cause removeal of appealing elements/lore of the original" yes and that's what happened with fallout 3 btw lmao
@user-eh2ru7cc4v 1 and 2 have literally some of the most simplistic mechanics in any rpg of the time, you are provably mentally rеtаrdеd
@gustawbobowski1333 "probably"? How nice of you, I would've been more "assertive", lmao.
@HansHecker-oz7zr it's easy to PROVE you are also rеtаrdеd
Literally talking to some guy on Instagram whose telling me Fallout 1/2 and New Vegas aren’t serious games because there’s a few moments of levity and some Easter eggs all throughout the games so that’s justification for the writing of the show and Fallout 4. TND(Total Normie Death) NOW
5:09 fallout 5? It will be out in 2076!
And we will only have a single year to play it
something something capital has the ability to subsume all critiques into itself
it's kind of great in a way, if it can be steered in the right direction.
currently watching the fallout tv series series 2 on my second monitor surrounded by vault boy funko pops, drinking my official fallout branded sunset sasparilla to this
Are you in fallout™ vault suit themed t-shirt? Where's your pip boy replica with official Bethesda stamp? Where's a second one in nuka cola colours? Fake fan!
Shooting myself with my nuka-world nuka-blaster! (Glock 17)
My wife’s boyfriend told me that he is going to buy me Fallout funko pop, I’m so excited!
Considering that Fallout 4 is just a watered down loot shooter its safe to say that Bethesda does intend to turn it into Borderlands
Now you know how star wars fan when the disney gaslighting began.
the fallout show basically says what if the courier died when benny shot them in the head. the show destroys all player agency from new vegas.
😕
A flash game from 2012 represented Fallout better than Bethesda has in the past 15 years
You mean Caravaneer? That game was goated.
Redditors are engineered to gobble current thing slop of course they don't get the irony.
Welcome, brothers and sisters. First time, eh? As a Star Wars EU fan let me tell you that eventually the frustration and despair goes away and the void that’s left just stops you from caring. You’ll eventually forget the fallout universe exists altogether.
Same as a Trek fan. They just can't leave anything be, ruining franchise after franchise.
Lol, Fallout has been "reddit-fied" far far longer than the tv show.
yeah, this guy pretending like he has a novel opinion while very obviously being a tourist himself is kinda ironic.
It doesn't surprise me. lol
Troonifed
What does reddit-fied mean exactly? Like those stereotypical reddit moderators or something? I don't use the internet much
@NightBotPlus pretty much, appeals to the lowest common denominator and rounds off all edges to not hurt any feelings. Bonus points if you shallowly critique capitalism, Christianity, or any other social issue deemed appropriate at the time
"No way its all rage bait" no, its worse: astroturfing
6:15 I’ve realized this is a pattern when a company sells out and caters to mainstream “normies.” They will defend the most egregiously damaging additions to lore, gameplay, and general long-term health of the game because “I’m enjoying it bro. Why do you care so much bro? Just quit lmao, nobody’s forcing you to stay. We’re making more money for the corporate overlords then you ever were :)”
These types of people don’t engage with the hobby like actual fans or people who genuinely have interest do.
Your comment is by far a more accurate example of the reddit attitude than the example you gave.
Another case of Normies ruining everything.
Wym cuh
@TyreseHillFootball Don't expect anyone to give a damn what you have to say if you don't even care enough to write it out enough for anyone to understand.
@realKoshka Bruh wym is slang for what you mean cuh was it dat hard to understand?😭
@TyreseHillFootballspeak English I beg of you.
Gold (not Reddit Gold)
I knew things had gotten bad, when not only my sister knew what fallout was, but my parents watched the show...
Bruhh
I jus think deez redditors be trippin cuh
A hit dog will holler.
@ALocalLegionFoxI agree but I think it's funny you argue exactly like I would expect a Legion fan to.
"LET PEOPLE ENJOY THINGS!" "MEDIA LITERACY IS DEAD OMG" "OMG SHUT UP AND STOP WATCHING FFS"
"Reddit-ification" is the perfect way to describe what happened.
The ego of a Redditor will not allow them to admit they are a johnny-come-lately or a low information viewer
The argument that it doesn't matter "because it's not real" is so dumb, you could apply that to all art, music, and literature, I get that its "just a game", but the Mona Lisa "is just a painting" if I wiped my ass with the Mona Lisa I feel people would have a few choice words.
My favorite joke in fallout was the cook-cook quest line.
Quirky!
My favourite joke in fallout was Nipton.
"I'm all for putting my life on the line, but I'm a little sensitive about my asshole."
~Little Buster
Lifelong Warhammer 40k fan here, I've seen this exact thing happen to my favorite universe after becoming mainstream. Get ready for the most insufferable people to start coming in to your fandom and throwing baseless accusations around without understanding anything about the lore, all while the corpo suits make ridiculous retcons and water everything down to make it fit into more mainstream slop.
4:36 brother you are finasteride maxxing, you can't be roasting someone else for being on the norwood scale 😭😭
oh no! hypocrisy!!
Those are words
Gatekeeping is almost always justified
I cant remember the last time I saw a video in a 4:3 aspect ratio.
oh yeah, 20 minutes of pure show vitriol, thank you for your suggestion, youtube, I'm here for every second of it.
I stg, if Todd did NOT insist on this story being a continuation of canon: who cares? fine, do your thing, bethesda man
THISSSSS THISS THISSS, ITS JUST A GAME OF TELEPHONE WITH THE LORE OMDG
My biggest gripe with the show is that if they actually wanted to avoid alienating any fans, they could have chosen a different region, maybe the Midwest or Canada, and included some references to the games while keeping the fate of the existing factions as vague as possible.
Exactly!
But they couldn't! Because how else are they going to mine this franchise for memberberries?
Bruh ong cuz we need a new game like dat. Bruh it gotta not have BOS doe😭😭
6:04 it's the exact same for Silent Hill
THANK YOU!
God, fallout is going the way of Star Wars, absolute slop until eventually the tourists find a new franchise to ruin, fallout falls to the wayside and the only people left in the fandoms are the actual fans who still remember when it was actually good, and the cycle repeats all over again...
Bruh whos tha tourists cuh
@21SAVAGECLIPSCHANNEL everyone wants the marvel money cuh. there's a couple hundred millions dudes out there in the world prepared to eat a whole load of sloooop.
True. Fallout as a series has been pretty much cooked since 4 but now we have some of the worst people in the world invading the fanbase, which is all we have left anymore.
“real fans” theres no real or fake fans. people like you are the reason the fallout community is seen as toxic from everybody else. if you enjoy the games you’re a fan
Bro you were probably 3 when NV came out. Chill.
Most of them are bots.
Frfr bruh i always thot Fallout1 waz da best cuh
Before: Really weird people are overly into Fallout
Now: Really weird people are overly into Fallout
