It is a nice design. For me it has more pro's going for it than about any other design....the cons are you need a perfect stave and it's a lot more work than other designs which are close performance-wise. The pro's are zero handshock (when made right!) wonderful arrowspeed and also not 'twitchy' like a purely reflexed bow is/can be. My best performing one was sinew backed yew doing 190's @ 10gpp....wish I never sold it! Anyway I wish you luck with the bow making :)
Looks like you have gotten fire hardening down as good as anyone as I've seen. Couldn't have done better myself. Amazing what can be done when it's done right. The reason it's your top performing is because by increasing the compression and poundage, you were able to reduce mass and physical weight in the limbs. Good job!!!!!!
Awesome bow as always! If you haven’t seen deflex recurve self bows before check out work by marc st. louis. This used to be a popular design for setting flight records. sometimes the deflex is in the middle and sometimes at the fades
@@DanSantanaBows thanks Dan I appreciate it. I have seen his work. I couldn’t find any that are made from a single piece of wood. From what I saw it was glued on handle sections or spliced in the handle. But I also haven’t looked to much into it.
@@provisionlongbows8881 I think self bows of pretty much every conceivable profile shape have been made many times throughout human history. Yours are as good as it gets, I don’t mean to knock your achievement. I’ve made a couple deflex recurve self bows but they are different from yours, and I’ve seen some others over the years but they’re rare. They used to be more popular in vintage flight shooting. I’m pretty sure mark has made some self bows with deflex recurve but I may be wrong. He would definitely be worth talking to, I think you’d have fun picking his brain about his bows
Not at all man. I always appreciate your insight and knowledge about bow making. If anyone knows a shit ton about bows it’s you buddy! I think highly of you and your skills. I think what I’m getting at the most when I say first of its kind is the ability to heat bend such large sections of wood without cracking or failure And turning them into fully functional bows.maybe that has been done before, I’m really not sure. Can we just say I heat bend big ass pieces of wood? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@provisionlongbows8881 Look up the bows that Clay Hays makes, and they are very similar one-piece bows maybe sinew on front and back of some while others are fire hardened His have a more single side notched grip longbow shelf for all his main hunting bows. His son who is old enough for hunting uses more a modern looking recurve bow as in they look like a 1950's or fiberglass Ben Person limb but with fully static tips.
@provisionlongbows8881 Man, thats a really impressive build. All them curves and short built to a fairly long draw. Im scared to make mine that short but maybe I'll give it a go now that i have a couple bows under my belt
@@provisionlongbows8881 I would be 100 percent great with that . I hope you’re serious my friend because I would in a heartbeat. possible to get a snakeskin backing to?
Beautiful bow! The donkey likes it too!
Awesome!!!!

@@sierraridgereaper thanks so much!
Yea, beautiful bow man. Is that osage? It looks like you heat treated it pretty heavily. How long is that bow?
Thank you. It’s made from elm. It was cooked over some coals for several hours. It’s 59” tip to tip. Tillered out to 29”

Nice.
Bello!
If you could get an 8 grains per pound of draw weight I bet it would be close to 200 fps or over
@@mikenzinaortega81 that would be interesting to see!
So wanna sell it?
This one is spoken for! But the next one I make is be willing to sell.
