Changed my M240i grill from stock to the M type black grill with the double slat as soon as I got it home. Much improved from the chrome wrapped stock one.
I’ve watched several of these installation videos. Yours was the best one I’d watched. Very detailed. I wish I had seen it before I gave up and spent $350 having the grilles installed! 😩
Another awesome video, I like this format because it shows the viewers the frustrations that one goes through when installing parts. Not a very smooth process every time.
No need to take bonnet off or pull from top, can be easily changed with a 90 degree hook tool to undo the clips from outside, remove one grill then use hand to undo the one left, really simple job👍🏻
Thank you man! Having the Dinan mid pipe installed tomorrow, can't wait! Please do a front lip install haha, I will be following most of your build on mine and your videos are the best!
Thanks Hai-Ming! Hope you're enjoying the new sound. I wanna do a front lip install but didn't think it was necessary as it should be a very straight forward assuming the fitment is good. I do wanna buy a new one though because the one I have now is embarrassingly horrible LOL!
Thanks for replying haha! I am enjoying the new sound! Much more pops and gurgles than before and it is definitely worth the price. Personally I think it is not loud enough and I will be looking at the Dinan exhaust for the future. absolutely understand you reasoning for the front lip and I just want to see you do it cause your videos are very well explained and entertaining. Thank you anyways!
I agree with you 100% on the 'not loud enough' part. I don't think the Dinan muffler will help much with the volume, but the tone will definitely change. I've been wanting to make it louder but can't figure out how without getting more raspy. Let me know if you figure that out :)
Idk why BMW doesn't just fit glossy black grills on M235/M240 and M2 to begin. With so many people swapping them out. I have a M235 myself and are doing the same thing. But I ended up just cutting open one of the grills off so I can easily access both. Since I am not planning to reuse them.
Looks good! I just checked the order box for the black kidneys when I ordered my 240i. $210 and one less thing thing to do myself. They were installed at the port.
You have great videos, can you share the vendor information that sold you these front grilles? I have the same car and they are too expensive in my country, since i noticed that the installation is simple. Thank you.
Hey Jiaqi, while I was depressing the tabs, i would simultaneously be pulling the grille just a little to displace it and prevent the tabs from resetting. Try using any tool with a flat tip to help keep the tabs depressed while you work around the others. It does take a little bit of finesse and a lot of patience to remove the first few clips but it gets way easier as you go. Hope this helps and good luck!
Hey Gary, the bumper has enough flex to fit your arm in there so don't be worried to pull a little harder. The hard part was getting them all to stay depressed at once lol. I'm sure you prob figured it out by now though!
Thanks! Sadly I don't have an exact link to where I got it as I purchased it years ago and just have some to spare sitting in storage. I'm sure you can very similar ones on eBay or Amazon.
Mate, were you using the screw driver to unclip the first grill? I am about to do mine and I don't want to pull the bumper too much fearing I may damage it. Using a screw driver seems pretty smart.
Hey Gen. Yes I was. The bumper has way more flex than you might think. You should be able to fit your whole arm under there just fine! Good luck let me know how it goes!
Hey, I did some coding to my car last year but didn't make a video of it. It got reset when the shop updated my car but I intend to code it again soon.
I'm still debating whether to replace the one I currently have on the car. Prob lower priority since I can make do with the one I have for now! I am already very close to having clearance issues without being lowered with this mildly aggressive lip.
Like the real world approach to some of the stuff you've been changing on the car showing the frustrations regular people come across. Did you look for some carbon fibre grilles to match the mirror caps?
Thanks man. That's the goal! I never looked into CF grilles at the time because I didn't know it was an option. Might be nice though since it looks like that's where I'm heading.
A little advice Shun, I've watched a few of your videos and wanted to say... I'd suggest that if you're going to make a "how-to" video that you first get all the details figured out before you film. Maybe replace the part a few times and have all the little tips figured out ahead of time. This will make the viewing process and videoing a lot easier and clearer to learn from. Secondly, when putting ANYTHING on the web, especially your own car, blur out your license plate or any VIN numbers that are visable. This is just for your safety.
Hey Bernie, I appreciate the advice and I can totally understand where you are coming from. I have seen many videos which are exactly what you mentioned and they are great. I wanted to take a slightly different approach to my installs. I don't see my videos as "how-to" videos. Rather, I make my videos with the intention of showing the viewer what many videos do not show them; a raw and unfiltered process which shows the difficulties that one might encounter when attempting the installs themselves. It is not often as easy as other content creators make it look. As for my personal info.. the cat is already out of the bag on that one lol. I thought about it for a long time before deciding to post my videos. Thanks for your advice though. Cheers!
Shundel yea I like the way you did it. When people make videos and it looks so easy it always has me thinking there is more to it. You made it look like a pain in the ass and that’s good because it can be a pain the ass to do
Can't give an exact dollar figure for ya because of many factors. But generally, anything north of 7-8% off MSRP would be a good starting point. Cheers!
Changed my M240i grill from stock to the M type black grill with the double slat as soon as I got it home. Much improved from the chrome wrapped stock one.
Nice man. Yeah it's one of those 'day one' mods for sure. It changes the look drastically.
I’ve watched several of these installation videos. Yours was the best one I’d watched. Very detailed. I wish I had seen it before I gave up and spent $350 having the grilles installed! 😩
Haha thanks man I wish you found it sooner! It got infinitely easier after taking off the first side.
Another awesome video, I like this format because it shows the viewers the frustrations that one goes through when installing parts. Not a very smooth process every time.
Thanks man. Yeah this was prob the 2nd most difficult install so far after the front reflectors
No need to take bonnet off or pull from top, can be easily changed with a 90 degree hook tool to undo the clips from outside, remove one grill then use hand to undo the one left, really simple job👍🏻
the black looks good one white. i have a black f02 m sport so i changed my blacks to chrome
Thank you for the great video ! Just did it on mine today and it makes it look much more aggressive. Out with the chrome !
My pleasure. Congrats bro!

I added the gloss black dual slat kidney grills and wrapped those two bars in white vinyl 👍🏼
White vinyl is an interesting touch. Must look pretty sweet. 😀
Great video

Why have you not change badges for the Black & Silver ones ??? As you push clips down, you need to pull on grill !!!
Looks good! I just checked the order box for the black kidneys when I ordered my 240i. $210 and one less thing thing to do myself. They were installed at the port.
Thanks! Honestly, the car should have come this way from the factory.
Or you could use a hook tool (like a screw driver with the end hooked over) and pull the tabs with the hook from the outside
Great video, really helpful and clear. Thank you!
Geoff Halpin Thanks Geoff!
You have great videos, can you share the vendor information that sold you these front grilles? I have the same car and they are too expensive in my country, since i noticed that the installation is simple. Thank you.
Hey Cesar, the link is in the description!
Hey! I tried to unclipping top three, but I can’t take it out. How did You do that? Did you also unclip other two on the side?
Hey Jiaqi, while I was depressing the tabs, i would simultaneously be pulling the grille just a little to displace it and prevent the tabs from resetting. Hey! Was curious how you got the bottom clips? My hand cant reach it
Hey Gary, the bumper has enough flex to fit your arm in there so don't be worried to pull a little harder. The hard part was getting them all to stay depressed at once lol. I'm sure you prob figured it out by now though!
Thanks for the help as always, keep up with the videos!
Hey there, great video !!
Could you link that carbon vinyl you've used ? Thanks
Thanks! Sadly I don't have an exact link to where I got it as I purchased it years ago and just have some to spare sitting in storage. I'm sure you can very similar ones on eBay or Amazon.
Great video! I have BMW black grilles arriving on Monday for my new 220d M Sport in Black :) This will be a massive help (y) Thank you
Happy to help, my dud e:)
Where’d you get that carbon fiber vinyl for the bars?
I got it from Ebay!
+50 horsepower now?
That's just a conservative estimate too
Mate, were you using the screw driver to unclip the first grill? I am about to do mine and I don't want to pull the bumper too much fearing I may damage it. Using a screw driver seems pretty smart.

You won't break the bumper I promise.
strange placement of the license plate! is it for looks or is there a function for it!?
Hey Balle, I put it there as a compromise to avoid drilling holds into the center of the bumper. I don't mind the look!
Hey are going to do any coding to your car ???
Hey, I did some coding to my car last year but didn't make a video of it. It got reset when the shop updated my car but I intend to code it again soon.
any plans on a front splitter?
nvm. just saw your walkthrough video!
I'm still debating whether to replace the one I currently have on the car. Prob lower priority since I can make do with the one I have for now! I am already very close to having clearance issues without being lowered with this mildly aggressive lip.
Man, You really do deserve more subs! well, you got mine ;)
Thanks Matt. Cheers and nice vids :)

Easy....reach through gaps and unclip with fingers, 10 mins at most. No need to take off top of bumper
I spent an hr and barely reached the bottom clips
Oohh man I feel your struggle. It got 100x easier after removing that first grille. Hope everything turned out great for you!
Thumbs down for the CF-look wrap.

That number plate looks like shit
Change your license plate
:O
Just paint The original grill its the same
Not an option for me since the car is a lease :P
Shundel What's a good ballpark for the monthly lease on that particular model?
Can't give an exact dollar figure for ya because of many factors. But generally, anything north of 7-8% off MSRP would be a good starting point. Cheers!
what?
Why would you put money into modifications on a car that's a lease? Unless you plan on buying the car at the end of the lease?
