his first tape played a part in me producing too, especially drugs you should try and skyfall. But I think most people can agree Rodeo is his best work.
I always felt stuck using my synths to make my 808's. Didn't know the snap to zero point was in edison! Amazing. Can't wait to dig into my 808 samples again now!
We do brotha...but we sample our synths. You can't use the glide techniques we do in the piano roll if you are just using a synth. You can only have different glide timings with samples or FL native instruments in the piano roll. If you don't sample, you're stuck using a singular glide time/ratio. The power with FL's piano roll comes with the ability to change how long something glides on the fly. You can't do that in a synth (you can, but it requires too much automation compared to piano roll.) PLUS, not to mention CPU usage drops considerably when you sample your instruments vs. keeping the VSTi open and active. Sample your synths my friend. This video is gold.
We also save our synths under "Save Channel State As" when you right click the channel. We have our own library of sounds, fx, and presets that we can pull up and we resample from there.
For anyone out there that just wants the sub tone, but not the punch or decay, you can use any synth to generate a single sine wave and put it at a low octave. I generally do that instead of using an 808
My problem is I'm not getting the punch after I've done this tutorial...please anyone know what I'm doing wrong and oh I've messed with the envople (attack) both on and off but still I see no changes. 😠 thanks
Being from VA lex inspired me the most. I remember wanting to get into making beats but thinking that timbo, pharrell and missy were making their stuff in million dollar studios, so I didn't pursue it at first. Then i saw that lex made the whole flockaveli album on a broke down pc with Fl studio (which is what i was messing with at the time). Once I saw that in a documentary I knew that beatmaking was what I wanted to do. Great tut by the way Ibeen.
DNJ Beats that video he made where he made the beat in 10 minutes was on replay. Fr fr. You ever watch the 10 hour studio session with Pharrell and Justin Timberlake?
U can make the same loop edit in NI Kontakt, just go to the sample editor and script editor. btw some nice Saturation/distortion vsts are Trash 2, Decipator, NI Driver or some of the WAVES plugs
Been using FL Studio for 13 years and I NEVER knew this feature. I make my own 808s in VSTs and the hassle of changing how the envelope moves when you play higher pitches is a real drag. So sampling the 808s into one shots would make super sense. But this right here is a dope method to making those basses tail out longer. Thanks man.
You don't have to count. Just make sure you are looping the positive amplitude into the negative amplitude. You can even do it with just 1 each, which is what is known as a "cycle". If you go to Packs -> Shapes, FL comes with a bunch of single cycle waveforms you can dump into Sytrus or 3xOsc.
Same here. It kind of works but I always get either click or flutter, most of the time it's flutter for me. It's not always smooth. Do you just have to get a good 808 sample
They got a snap function for that....I'm out here on the wav like Sherlock Homeboy getting to that zero manually all this time. Thank you for that knowledge alone
1996 OutKast ATLiens album. Plus a Album my older cousin dropped that same year titled "Point Blank Range" Those 2 albums made me fall in love with beats and making em
@IBEENART I already knew this, but it's good for the people who didn't. It's one of the best tricks in todays music imo. Also, could you upload beat tutorials? The beats on your channel are sick as fuck.
Nujabes - he wasn't an expert with DAWs but knew how to compose and arrange. Then XXYYXX made me realise it was possible since he was just a kid making it from his room. Thanks for the tut. I had an idea about this but the tut made me understand fully.
I have followed everysingle thing about this tutorial. Zero crossing and everything but yet, everytime the 808 hits, there's an annoying pop. Anyone help?
I'm late but can help still You maybe listen too much. If you are obsessed doing it 'till you get it right, you can hear it even at the lowest frequencies. Rest your ears. That's a tip that helps me out every time
the album(s) that inspired me to produce was Alchemists' album first Infanty, Mobb Deep's The Infamous, 50's Get Rich or Die Trying and alot more i could name but you catch my drift. that real hip hop.
awesome tutorial Thanks a lot. It probably sound cliche but all the music that i heard made me wanna produce. Can You please make a tutorial on the style of engineering Quallity Control uses with all those stop/start/rolling stutters etc. will be great if You do
i heard imagine dragons demons back in highschool when it came out and hundreds of time was just imagining i was on stage singing that song to fans while on my way to school. ever since then and eminems mmlp2 i told myself fuck school, this is whats gonna keep me alive. thanks for the video too btw, i was looking all over the net for this 808 glide tip, hey @ibeenart i wonder if you can use this method on other samples such as idk, vocals ;)
easier in Ableton, but this was a really good tutorial for those who use FL. Easier in Ableton b/c ur able to do cut groups really quickly plus you can create racks that allow you to go crazy with your fx and automations. Ableton's drum programming is bananas, but FL Studio has a unique sound, it's the only DAW that doesn't null, which is "bad" but for some reason it sounds good.
Mines had clicking noises still but i figured it out .Don't dump the looped wave into same 808 channel that u just edited. Dump it as a brand new channel/sound of its own. Good tutorial
Cool AF. For me there isn’t just a song that really inspire me from the starting but like right now I’m really into make a beat like “it’s a slime” by young thug
Thanks homie. Glad I stumbled unto this video! You've got 1 more subscriber! I grew on Johnny juliano too lol. Wiz Khalifa's Prince of The City 2 was what game a huge source of inspiration.
Is there a reason why you use on old version of FL? I opened some projects I made in on old version in the new version and they sounded different. Liked and subscribed!
New to FL Studio and have the producer edition, wondering where to find 808 sound packs? Do any come with this edition or do I have to get them from somewhere else? All I can find is 808 kick
That zero crossing method is the most informational part of the video.
No Idols yes it helps with samples. When I found out about it I chopped samples for days and looped all my 808s lol
Fax
Travis Scott albums/ mixtapes r what rlly inspired me to prod
BeatsbyJZA days before rodeo for me
BeatsbyJZA days before rodeo was his best project. I love that shit.
agreed.

ATM beats days before rodeo ain't his first tape my guy, have a listen to owl pharaoh🤘🏼
Bro you da GOAT. Been trying to figure out how to extend sub basses for the longest time. I hate when 808's stop too early. SUBBED + LIKED
You can use the en elops to max out sustain and min all the other knobs as well. Works fine
Then turn on the portamento and use mono cuz you're only using one pitch at a time
I always felt stuck using my synths to make my 808's. Didn't know the snap to zero point was in edison! Amazing. Can't wait to dig into my 808 samples again now!
Ian Ross welcome back to the dark side 😈
Use synths. Once you figure out what your really like in an 808, you can make it yourself and have way more versatility than just a sample.
We do brotha...but we sample our synths. You can't use the glide techniques we do in the piano roll if you are just using a synth. @@IanRoss What synth plugin do you have?
For anyone out there that just wants the sub tone, but not the punch or decay, you can use any synth to generate a single sine wave and put it at a low octave. I generally do that instead of using an 808
Ian Davis Yea. I do the same thing.
My problem is I'm not getting the punch after I've done this tutorial...please anyone know what I'm doing wrong and oh I've messed with the envople (attack) both on and off but still I see no changes. 😠 thanks
Simple waveforms work for pretty much everything. Everyone uses a million and 1 plugins but none of them know how to manipulate the actual waveforms
Being from VA lex inspired me the most. iBEENART yes bro. Legendary shit.
DNJ Beats aye wassup I'm out va too
Man I was always wondering how those loop points on 808s are made in 808 sound packs, thank you very much IBNART!
Klimek - Hip-Hop & Trap Instrumentals glad it helped. I got dms about not giving away the sauce but fuck that let's get this $$
Take a Nexus Sine Bass distort it and take Portamento on it:)
wow you're damn right
I know it's too simple to believe it
mattheus berg yeah but nexus Sine bass is ugly
Jonathan Barranco well play with it then.
Peglone I've actually used it for a few songs, it's not the best sine bass but it's decent. Of course with Eq and distortion
U can make the same loop edit in NI Kontakt, just go to the sample editor and script editor. btw some nice Saturation/distortion vsts are Trash 2, Decipator, NI Driver or some of the WAVES plugs
Rip headphone users lol
Aroon Lad damn my bad. The obs program fucked up both times when I did this video. I'll fix it next time.

easier way of doing this:
1. Make own 808 using sine wave in VST
2. Add glide/portamento
3. Add distortion to taste
