🔍 Understanding the Approach:
The SDR version retains its original colors and dynamic range, residing in an HDR container to allow for an unbiased evaluation. On the other hand, the HDR version remains untouched, presenting the original 4K HDR Blu-ray experience. It's all about providing you with an accurate assessment of the visual disparities between these two formats. Keep in mind that the average Joe watches SDR on a non-calibrated TV at 200nits+. This video shows the original SDR 100nits range as it was graded.
*** This video was created with a 100% automated script and the frames are RANDOM.
🖥️ Device Compatibility:
For an authentic evaluation, I recommend watching this video on HDR-compatible devices. Feel the difference as HDR technology unfolds, showcasing its full potential. If your display doesn't support HDR, youtube will tone map the images to SDR(compress to 100nits) which is far from ideal.

All the colors on the 4k look more true to actual storm footage. Twister has badly needed a 4k upgrade for so long and it's exciting to see it's finally happening.
No it looks terrible. I’m definitely sticking with the blu-ray
@@thischannelisdeletedLooks terrible? What planet are you on?? Lol

What about that German release? Maybe that one is worth picking up?
Anybody that thinks this looks terrible needs there eyes checked. This is the way the director wanted it to look when first released. The blu ray is dull
@@williamdriver1959exactly. He always wanted that green intended look to storm sequences when it first came to home video but those didn’t translate well to them.
The Super High Definition version is ASTOUNDINGLY better. Clearer picture, deeper colors and the Dolby Atmos is superb,
Some shots look a lot better, some others look hideous on the 4K
wow I had the 34gb blu ray remux but this version really killed it I had to go with the 55gb one and some extras were also uploaded till its out hear
They did a great remaster!
The 4k is a lot better.
After comparing the footage, this is a situation where the Blu-Ray is definitely better. The 4K version looks too dark in certain shots and that greenage scene looks jarring. Any scene with the tornados in it doesn’t look natural. It’s not like The Matrix Trilogy where adding a different color filter made it look better, this is similar to both the older LOTR Blu-Rays and even the recent Aliens 4K where the changed color filters ruins the visual quality. They really should of just improved the visuals of the film itself rather than making major changes that doesn’t improve the film’s quality.
The Blu-Ray has always looked fresh to me and sadly I’m beginning to notice a trend of recent 4K releases suffering from major changes to the visual quality where the color grading completely butchers it. Another primary example of how sometimes, newer isn’t always better. And in many cases, some of those older Blu-Rays are honestly better in terms of consistency.
I'm still of a mixed opinion about it, some of it looks great, some doesn't, the greenage is a little too strong at times but it's fine, i think most will find it jarring though but that kind of color has occured during tornado storms in the past, so credit for trying to make storm conditions more accurate? but it doesn't always happen though.
@@sinistersh0t2741 except it never gets THAT green to where it looks awkward. Besides, we’re not talking about real life, we’re talking about a mid 90’s movie. And as I’ve mentioned, it’s automatically an issue when they make drastic changes to the visual quality where it looks jarring and it’s just unnecessary over saturation of color shading which can ruin the visual quality of a classic film when it’s not implemented properly. Which is why I’m convinced that the 4K release is objectively inferior to the Blu-Ray release because of this quality control issue.
2:28 wow 😳
I guess the 1080p VC1 is from the old 2008 Blu-ray. To be a new remaster, it's striking not to be Dolby Vision. It is curious that the average frame brightness of the HDR10 (4.98 nits) is generally inferior to the BD (5.93 nits) as you can see on the graphs. It means you'll probably notice a darker HDR than BD. Since there is no way to lift up brightness on a HDR TV (it reserves 1,000 nits for peaks) it seems the average Joe will see a brighter picture on BD with the same TV.
Yeah some shot are much more darker and crushed than the old bluray. Since it peaks quite often over 1000nits, DV dynamic metadata would have certainly helped the low nits OLED TVs.
4k does look better in some shots but that green tone is quite annoying I can't lie
4k is too dark, thanks but I’ll keep my laserdisc.
i have both.bluray is better.in 4k they fucked up many scenes and made it way to dark.sad
2:55 eww. why this still look 480p lol
