I watched this gig on my VHS till it was in pieces. That's the gig that made the band for me. Perfect mix of sassy rock'n'roll, gloomy pop and just enough raw. They never ever bottled it anymore in that exact way and I have missed it from that day on. For me personally this gig is what HIM was.
Same here! A friend of mine father recorded it in a VHS from the German channel called Viva (we are not even German, but he had this channel). Then we started binging on HIM's content and more and more people got addicted to them.

I've seen HIM twice in their heyday. The first time was absolutely amazing and a core memory. It was at the Croatian Cultural Centre in Vancouver. We had to wait FOREVER for them to come out. I am talking forever. We later found out Linde did too much of substance, we're thinking good 'ol BC bud (it's very potent, google it), fell, hit his face causing some damage and a nose bleed. At the beginning of the concert he still had a towel with him to quell the bleeding. He threw the towel into the audience and my sister caught it. I immediately yelled at her to crumple it up tight so no one could grab it from her. She still has that bloody towel from Linde. Some of the crowd had left by the time they came out but the ones who stayed were diehards and the energy was unreal. Top 10 concert for sure!

Actually Ville was drunk and almost accidentally fell off the banister of a balcony that he was walking as a tight rope. Another (unnamed) band member pulled him off.
I just read an article that said it was Linde that pulled him off. In a video interview, Ville recalls the incident and says that a Finnish newspaper wrote an article about it, with "Ville Valo tried to commit suicide" as the headline. Ville got mad because his family read it and got really worried.

Как услышала впервые его голос, реально пропала. Люблю его музыку. Да и сам он конечно красавец был. Жаль мужики рокеры не берегут себя пьют, курят и пробуют запрещенку. Смотрела давно в раннем интервью он говорил, что вроде не хочет жить долго и планировал умереть молодым. Ох уж этот клуб 27 летних. Хорошо, что передумал, ведь у талантливых людей есть ответственность перед зрителями. Была 2 раза на его концерте в 2006 в Москве с Расмус выступали и на Максидроме 12.06. 2013 году с 30 second to mars. Ville has such an electrifying voice. I was fortunate to see him perform here in Detroit at St. Andrews Hall a couple of times years ago.
