Personally I think Rodgers frustrations are with the fans as much as the board. He's constantly being backed into a corner by the fans. They wanted big money spent, he convinced the board to do it and what happened? Fans started complaining saying we spent too much. He then avoids making an impulse buy to replace Kyogo for over inflated prices in January and what happens? The fans complain because we didn't spend big. I wouldn't grudge Rodgers coming out at the next press conference and telling everyone to f*ck right off coz it must be an absolute headache.
I don t think you can just magically find a striker who can replace Kyogo in a few weeks: months, we could have been forced in to paying ott prices for kvistgaten with. No garantee of him being the best option we have got while the summer now to find the striker who is the best value for money
So many people spitting the dummy, "Aw we knew we were selling Kyogo months ago". First of all no one can predict the future, they may have known Kyogo wanted to leave but there was never any guarantee a bid would come in, or when that bid would come in. At the end of the day Celtic is a business and they've clearly weighed up the pros and cons of selling Kyogo in January. They most likely wouldn't have been expecting 10mil for Kyogo given his age, so the fact they received that offer coupled with being 10pts clear with a game in hand amongst other reasons outweighed the con of not having Kyogo for half a season. Idah is Kyogos replacement, I have no doubt they'll look to get another in the summer but personally it makes much more sense to me to spend 6 months arranging a transfer for the summer than paying inflated prices for unproven players. Get behind the squad we have and stop stirring sh*t which will absolutely result in distracting both Rodgers and the players from winning games. HH🍀🍀
Evryone thinks it's a poor window but we got Jota back. Yes it's a shame we didn't cover Kyogo but we resisted the extorsion on the last day but we're more than able to get the job done and rejig things in the summer.
Hi there , I agree to a point , but we should never be in an extortion position , we don't buy early enough , to me this winter window is a waste of time , you build a team end of season , panelbeat them during close season and touring . I have the highest respect for BR and the way he is being treated is fkn criminal . This would have been Big Ange's 3rd season and he would have had a team ready for Europe , cos he knew how to shop . Anyway , we always have Lourdes on hand for a miracle !!! . 3 or 4 - 0 tonight . Enjoy , Cheers and HAIL HAIL , From , Johannesburg . 😂😂😂🍀🍀🍀🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
I’m just personally disappointed that we didn’t get stricker to replace kyogo or a backup to idah I personally think idah is good enough in the last couple games but hopefully roll on in the summer to strengthen the squad
Another thing of note is that Rodgers had a very similar interview pretty much a year ago today where he came out of a January window frustrated. Some fans seem to have short memories on this. The board have previous for letting him down and if we aren't careful it'll lead to him being off again. And the chances of getting a similar level of coach in is near impossible for me.
Pointless infighting and discussing now , it's done .
Get behind the team
What i would like to know, is what do all the recruitment staff get paid for and is it full time positions or they just work half a day a week?
Winter transfer window is not the time to do business. The Last thing we needed was an overpriced 'replacement' for Kyogo who wasnt good enough for our longer term plans and had no positive resale value.
Swapping Jota for Kyogo was great business - wonderful player Kyogo was for us. He wanted away and someone offered over the odds.
We buy and improve and enjoy younger players, then sell them to make money.
Thats our recruitment model. Its how we keep renewing a good team and how we maintain financially.
I wish Celtic supporters werent so infantile about it. They want instant gratification NOW.
I dont think we be thinking about a new striker till the summer. Give the club time to identify and choose between players with a future at our club and Not a panic buying to pacify fans.
We have enough ammo to achieve results in the league and cup - and whoever our striker was we arent strong enough yet to compete at the highest levels of the UCL.
Ambition is ok but delusion is something else. Reality has sport with delusions of grandeur.
Be patient.
I have every confidence that our squad will be better next season than this one. Theres plenty to look forward to. No need for spoiled brat entitlement - thats a killing disease.
Ask Sevco about that.
Fully agree, stay calm and keep it together. Hail Hail
Never a truer word spoken.
Yes! Trust the process
If the winter transfer window isn't the time to do business then we shouldn't have sold our main striker in the winter transfer window
@@Darren.ftk. I doubt we would have sold Kyogo except that they gave Jota And money. He wanted away. It was the most we were ever getting for him. It was the right decision given where we are in all competitions
Imagine the backlash if Celtic did spend the £13.5 million or whatever it was on the player and he turned out to be a waste of money?
Speculate to accumalate
@kennyp9616 Goes back to the saying “never a win win situation sometimes”
Please remember celtic are financially gifted at the no point in rash buying we've seen were that gets you so always remember the lean times be patient and stop being like spoilt brats
Kyogo wanted to go and that's fair enough I've got nothing bad to say about the wee man. But I think celtic need to be stronger with the players. Celtic pay his wages at the end of the day and should have told kyogo he had to stay till the summer, we have too many big games coming up just to let him leave without a replacement. When we get to the summer window no one will stand in his way but he has to give us the rest of the season. I think it's been really poor from celtic. Brondby done it with kvistgaarden and seems like slovan done the same with strelec. So why we are letting kygo go mid season. Still happy with Taylor and shlupp at LB till KT comes home and also jota back is tremendous. Just can't get the feeling that letting kyogo leave mid season has been a massive mistake. Adam idah gets injured then what? Poor show celtic, stinks of complacency
Should have titled this video. " I'm trying to keep my celtic park press pass"
In the month of January we have conceded 12 goals. B4 January 4 goals in the league and 3 goals in the cup final. So the last 2 games against the huns in we've conceded 6 goals. A shambles we are not defending now. Will be a nervous run in to the end of the season.😢😢😢😢
My take on the window fantastic signings in Tierney and Jota like unbelievable 😮 got rid of a lot of dead wood for profit what is not to like Rodgers wanted a striker 1st choice doesn't want to come 2nd choice doesn't want to come do we want a third choice striker in just to say we bought a striker in certainly not.
The club has two international strikers at it's disposal don't give me this guff Maieda is not a striker and is more than capable playing the role for Japan before Kyogo that's all you need to know.
This nonsense the club is weaker with Jota sclopp and Tierney is a joke the club have done what was asked of them the team have responded by getting too the knockout stages of the champions league every body would have took that given the dismal previous record.
Plenty to play for and plenty of options teamwise even in the striking department so yes i do like what i see a good team a great manager and a board that are doing a fantastic job in every department of the club.
Personally I think we have come out the window stronger, I’m just a little disappointed we didn’t get the ST is Brendan clearly wanted 1, however, coming out of that presser Brendan’s made me feel like we have brought in a new world class ST the way he spoke about Daizen, the man had a way with words 🍀
Maieda is a better striker than the other strikers they were looking at by a long shot.
While I understand the frustration, I’m fairly relaxed about the situation. We have enough quality across the front 3 positions to still make it a successful season. Can’t get caught with their pants down again in the summer though
Schlupp looks like a player !
Elena’s squad is lighter than Rodgers’ we needed a CH more than Rodgers needed a striker, 10 points clear qualified out of CL, league cup, the ghirls are joint top behind on goal difference so Elena’s need is greater
No need to spend that's why we have got idah he's the main man now and maeda as back up.Celtic fans are hard to please these days. I'm happy we can address the team in the summer.
It would have been great to get a striker in but it's not going to Improve our chances I the champions league this season. Tbh I like the idea of meada playing as a striker because it gets jota more game time. As much as I live idah coming onto a game I'd personally like to see jota meada and khun on the starting sheet
You are a voice of reason Ryan unlike the merchants of doom who can only see the downside of Celtic this nonsense that Maieda is a second string striker he is an international striker who Celtic chooses to use as a winger and is certainly better than the strikers who were linked,
It's a case of glass half full or glass half empty I will be half full enjoying the team the football we're playing and thinks it's amazing having Tierney and Jota back roll on the rest of the season.
Rodgers said he wants to play Maeda on the wing and buy another striker to replace Kyogo. So its not only fans who arent happy as Rodgers hasnt got what he wanted and that dosnt bode well going forward about Rodgers staying longer than 3 years.
@@jackjones1249Yeah we get it, but the targets identified preferred to join Celta Vigo and Middlesbrough so then you are onto the fourth choice or fifth choice is that what we really want ? Eh no especially when Maieda is more than capable of fulfilling that role Rodgers accepts that you don't always get what you want in life that's reality.
@@brendanmcghee5893 You are perfect cannon fodder to be a celtic fan.
@@jackjones1249only certain Celtic fans could argue that the signings of Tierney and Jota make us weaker 😂.
@@brendanmcghee5893 Only the deluded happy clapper fans could say not replacing our two best players Oriley and Kyogo make us stronger.🤣 Also Rodgers already stated we are weaker without Kyogo so i guess you dont agree with the manager.
It's not about the Munich game, being honest. It's about long term planning. We've now put added pressure upon a summer window where we will potentially need to replace Hatate, maybe Kuhn, maybe CCV etc who knows who else may go. Again it's short sightedness from the board.
Everything else aside It's pretty simple, really. Rodgers wanted a replacement for Kyogo and the board didn't deliver one. Not even on loan. Its poor and we are short. An injury to Idah away from relying on Maeda up top, which puts pressure on Jota to get upto speed quicker as well.
Should have kept valle tbh if we could have. We surely had folk on the shortlist. Weve known for months kyogo is leaving and we end up with just a left back. This is Celtic all over
As long as we go out and get our main targets in the summer, I don't see the issue with this window.
Kyogo wanted away. Good business for a 30 year old. Jota coming back is brilliant. Tierney tied up for the summer, and schlupp is a great utility option short term to cover multiple positions. Great opportunity for Kenny to some game time and the rest of the squad is more than adequate for what we have remaining this season. No point going out and buying for the sake of it if our preferred targets aren't available 🤷♂️🍀
No buy option bc contract runs out in summer
Completely forgot that's the case.
Thought it was a disappointing transfer window but i think johnny kenny, idah and maeda should be trusted up front. They literally all have international experience. Dont think its the end of the world and i have seen worse Celtic windows ill be honest
What was the specific situation with Kyogo he alludes too ,would he have refused to play v Villa and Motherwell -I doubt that..Was he bait to get Jota back...If he alludes to some specific he should explain it or not allude to it at all....Were Celtic tipped off his manager was about to get the bullet and thought a new manager mightn't want him and might want to keep Jota...All supersition but that's what happens when fans left guessing and they get pissed off
Seriously, even with a new striker, do you honestly think Celtic are going to progress in the CL. So , actually waiting a few months is a better idea, more money and more time. They are not stupid, and Rogers would agree. Be more concerned about the numpties getting Celtic fines and bans.
lets just move on nothing can be done just get behind the team hh
Brendan sounds very frustrated & disappointed without completely throwing his toys out of the pram. It's obvious now that the board have looked at our position in the league, seen that we already have one trophy in the cabinet, had a decent European campaign & decided we dont need to spend in this window, but wait till the summer.I get the feeling he's almost had enough of this now, it's not the first time. Last summer's window was a farce right up until the final week when they panicked & then paid over the odds...🍀
Champions league over unless there is a miracle, league over unless a big fu7k up , don't need to spend till the summmer
Does any Celtic fan honestly believe our defence can play in the champions league, it was shootie in V. Aston villa and they are no great shakes , don't even mention Dortmund, the board seem happy just to qualify for CL now it seems the domestic cups don't matter now also , very worrying
@@johnbarclay5964 Seems like a bit of a stretch to say they don't care about domestic cups? Trying to say Idah isn't capable of winning the Scottish cup coz I think if you cast your mind back 10 months or so you'll find it was Idah that won the cup for us so where's the logic in that statement?
Equally, the board spent big in the summer to get through the league phase so again, where's the logic? Anyone with a brain knows that spending another 10mil last minute on a player we have no idea if they're good enough for CL is not going to make a difference against Bayern, a team with a starting 11 valued just under €300mil. You're just complaining for the sake of complaining.
The board couldn't bring anyone in so Brendan had to bring in shlupp.. simples! The bhoy can play a full season so let's see..
Tierney and Jota not half bad😂
Our international strikers on target again have faith 😂 is the panic over yet i maintain Maieda is twice the striker of any failed target.
This window was never the chance to become a champions league team, we won't beat Munich .The club was correct not to pay ridiculous prices for duds. Do we really believe we had a chance if we kept kyogo, get a grip. Summer will tell if we're serious.
Well said. Even if we got a striker and KT it probably wouldn't give much more of a chance than we already have now. We need much more quality before we can go into games like a bayern Munich double tie with confidence.
Defeatist attitude
Correct.
You sure you're a fan?
A man who thinks he will lose will infact lose. You have to be slightly deluded to reach the top or compete there. That attitude is never gonna make it at top level. We can beat Munich. They have lost and with the Harry Kane curse well all the more enticing. They have more pressure on them and they are in the cauldron of Europe
The problem we have or could have ...Jeffrey is a short term loan ok KT Is coming in the summer window but there is grumbles and mumbles of Greg Taylor wanting now if Jeff goes back to palace and Taylor leaves ..we have a injury prone KT and no back up BIG concern for me ...if we could sign Jeff as back up GREAT I think with the boy from brandy we were told 10m then it went up to 13m ....but bhoys we all know January is a terrible window to sign players unless it's players who don't play and want a loan for game time JOTA and Jeff fall in there .the argument to we pay inflated transfer fee to get players we may get for less in the summer..or bring in someone like palma who gives us depth but not quality and we have to unload them after 6 month and pay wages ..this window we have jota we have Jeff who has goal in him as does jota we have KT we gave won the league beyond a disaster and I don't see that happening we wanted knock outs we got it we will be fine DONT WORRY BE HAPPY
There’s no option to buy Schlupp cause his contract is up in the summer 😂
no one wants to be the 3rd striker, especially as everyone plays with 1 upfront now
so Johnny Kenny will do, and i think he'll be fine
Even if we have a bad summer transfer window no one will be sacked the board have jobs for life as Long as the Desmond's in charge Rodgers will be gone by the time we play our 1st competitive game next season
Was a Clusterfeck!!!! And I am no in mood for the placating sugar coating crap said about it!!!!!
However, back to business as usual and support team!
Its ok to say Kyogo
Wanted to go .
We left ourself to
Get held to ransom .
Bottom line you get buisness done before
Being held to ransom .
The biscuit tin .
Are still calling the shots
Greetings fellow Celtic Disciples. Speaking personally, what concerns myself looking ahead are Brenda's plans and his career at Celtic. The board, with their apparent approach to signings, which is clear and obvious, is an absence of "realistic" ambitions. Ok, Celtic are not able to acquire two or three or even one marquee signing(s), but, as I have said innumerable times, good and very good players do not necessarily have to cost a fortune. First class scouting, trained negotiators combined with the funds Celtic have available would ensure we would have bolstered and not weakened our squad, whether it is the winter or summer transfer period. Should the board continue to neglect fundamental issues as I have outlined, then Brendan could be viewing pastures new.
You're saying that like it's a game of FM. Celtic have 7 scouts, one of which is head of scouting and most likely analyses reports from the rest of the scouts rather than going out watching games etc. Thats 6 people to go out and find those extremely rare gems that cost a few mil and turn out to be class that are dotted across the globe in amongst hundreds of thousands of other players, can you not see how unrealistic that is? Especially when the club is constantly being hounded for buying "cheap" players. The flip side of that is now that we've been spending more money in the summer (as demanded by the fans) and there's constant talk about how financially healthy we are, clubs use that to milk the club for every penny they can get which they wouldn't have done 3 years ago because they knew we didnt spend big 3 years ago.
I get why people get so wound up because they're passionate about the club but so many people don't seem to think logically about any of it. Those that were constantly complaining about not spending enough are part of the problem that's resulted in clubs trying to rinse us dry now that the club has listened to the fans and spent some decent money in the summer.
I do not play FM. I am stating very clearly that when Celtic do spend "big" in relative terms, quite often, not always, the players haven't contributed or fulfilled their price tag. I agree wholeheartedly that other, lesser clubs who have significantly higher amounts of money to spend than Celtic have held us to ransom, and either negotiations have broken down or Celtic have paid way too much for a doubtful player just to appease the ever faithful, devoted Celtic supporters (myself being just one of millions) and subsequently the manager and/or board can say they have spend say 8 million pounds on Mr. X.
@@MatthewMcNutt-iz6zu My point is that you're saying it as though it's as easy as the click of a button. We've got 6 guys available to send out scouting, there's also workplace laws that prevent us from forcing them to work ridiculous hours and days so there's only so much they can do. Yeah they might get lucky every now and then and find one of those players but the buying cheap players ship has sailed now that we've broken our transfer record twice in one window. Teams won't let us buy cheap anymore and unless the players force a way out, there's nothing Celtic can do but set limits for spending and be strict with it.
Without any exaggeration whatsoever, I am not suggesting it's a simple process based upon a click of a button! You're absolutely correct there is only so much Celtic can do, and yes, quality players, whether under or over valued, are few and far between, and sometimes a rare gem can be unearthed for a modest fee and yet paradoxically a player who by virtue of his name and the club with for whom he represented has failed Celtic. It's life, it's football and it's a business. When the transfers are completed, it's upon the player himself to prove he is prepared to strain every fibre for Celtic.
Board Sandbagging again and again and again.
Typical celtic board. Manager let's them know the positions that need strengthened & the targets he wants. What do we get.. a 32 year old loanee left back cover🤦
We needed KT in now. A CB, hard as nails midfielder & a striker. Maybe next time eh
Vincent if you get all that from our board, I am running for prime minister
Mibees Aye, but Mibees No.
No obligation to buy as Jeff is out of contract in the summer…
I can understand that it's hard to get the players you want at this time of year, but the is no F'ing excuse this summer, that Celtic shouldn't have a New Forward in on July the 1st.
Schlupp is out of contract at the end of the season
The, board could have least brought in a stricker, most teams like Celtic now have to shell out between 8 and 14, million for a decent player. All, the board ambition is to beat rangers, they have no interest in doing well in Europe.Rangers will eventually improve and match us . Hope, Brendan tells the board that he has had enough and walks when is contract is up.
Brendan will be out the door next he’s been given broken promises again
The mibs will be out to book Idah every game now
If Celtic lose the league because they can't score goals then heads should roll. But I really doubt that'll happen. Even with Kyogo, Celtic wasn't going anywhere in the Champions League.
Small club mentality but suit pockets full.
I think Celtic will be strong enough until summer transfers
Had there been no other offers for Kyogo and Rennes were saying it's now or never , we want him right now we're in a relegation battle and you want Jota too?? If that was the situation then things more understandable -a chance to bring in 10 million for a 30yr old wantaway player and to get back a class player who wants to return -but as usual fans kept in the dark
2 Words Peter Lawwell. Doesn't surprise me. Penny Pinching Board, Lawwell has his hands on the Biscuit tin. That guy has been in the way of Celtic progress. Celtic fans who are members of the Peter Lawwell Appreciation Society wake up. He is Scrooge and it's not his money.
It's ok saying we are strong enough but wait until we start getting injuries, shruken squad,
Hatate and Khun will both leave in the summer
I doubt maeda will wait with Kyogo gone and Hatate wanting away.
🍀🍀🍀
In Daizen we trust but why wouldn't valle commit here and then joins some Italian team I've never heard of? Rotten diver anyway 🍀
Why didn’t he say” look don’t ask me ask Nicholson & Lawwell” amateur hour is never far away from Celtic. He won’t be here after the summer, and judging by his signings last season are we any better ??? Engels, Trusty and up till last week Idah hardly setting the heather on 🔥.
Well I think that I'll just be going for a wee 2-0 win the treble is ours aswell and plus I think that wee have already got a great defensive team to work together eh big yin HH the mighty celtic into this rotten mob ☘️ ☘️☘️☘️🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🍀🍀🍀🍀 wee have got wee jota aswell but he is class aswell but eh bhoys n ghirls
The utter defeatism in just this chat is shocking. We'd never beat Bayern anyway? What planet are you people on? Enough to beat the rangers is it? The PATHETIC board must just love you
Cos you know better eh? We are not one of the best run clubs because the management listen to every mug and their dug, that’s for the other shower grow up
@HailHail247 we aren't one of the best run clubs, we are one of the best run businesses
What are you talking about? We spent big to get through the league phase, does that not show ambition compared to the last 10 years? Of course every Celtic fan wants to beat Bayern but spunking another 10mil last minute on unproven players isn't going to make a difference against Bayern. If we're going to get a result it's coz the entire team plays well not one random c*nt we bought in January.
Summer It will be the same as usual lots of links no action . No doubt skipping about putting low ball offers that get laughed at … Expect panic movement last day of the window and same old horseshit about how it’s so difficult to do business . It’s the Celtic way.
The board let the fans down... there was no need to gamble on selling Kyogo
Oh here we go your so disappointed yet you failed to understand what has happened the Club removed Vallie and Brought in a stronger defense option sold Kyogo as he wasn't interested anymore then brought in Jota and put Kenny out on lone are you so dumb that you can't see what's happening we are clearing out the dead wood to replace them with superior in the summer as 10 player are away to other clubs but you thought in your superior wisdom that we should bring players in at inflated priced to keep you happy learn to understand business before you moan about absolutely nothing
Ryan, celtic are 3 to 4 injuries away from disaster, and the league aint even won yet mate, if jota idah khun maeda gets injured, who will be their replacement Yang forrest kenny and b team players on the bench
Exactly Sam - that’s what I’ve been saying. “The Leagues won” oh really - we’ve still to go to places like Tynecastle etc. this team won’t beat Rangers again this season. They’ve sussed us out plus Rodgers won’t change his style. So ANY team that press us will beat us. Amateur Hour.
Ryna it is the boardrooms folt i am call for peter lowwell head he neet to go
I wouldn't be surprised if Rodgers walked at end of season
He said nothing of note. He just acted like we dont understand the goings on behind the scenes.
Aye were just stupid fans who pay their waged😂
Ryan weeshed mate your boring........ coming from a celtic man btw.. you dont have a clue....
Cheers Frank
