3 years on and this still remains the best explaination by far. Thanks
IBM lowkey has the best tutorials of these larger concepts at a high level. If they had a Udemy channel, I would literally buy all their courses. I'm trying to learn these concepts and there's not many good resources to learn them (and that includes my job).
Thank you for this. I think it can be explained little better. DevOps is all about integrating development + operations for speed, agility and quality. Key enablers here are automation and cultural shifts to be collaborative and test first/automate approach. Key drivers for DevOps are - market conditions where companies need to make continuous improvements to be competitive, increased pressure to do more with less. Microservices for Digitally Transformed or Digitally Native companies want always up applications to evolve continuously.
I have a question....Who is devops for? I mean who will you consider a beginner to devops? What must one know prior to becoming a part of a devops team?
P.S. I am just a curious frontend developer.
Sounds pretty much what she said.
@@livewithherbert Developer skills + Sysadmin skills + Scripting/Automation with something like Jenkins/Bamboo/AzureDevops etc
Great video. Maybe the best simple one I have watched on the topic! Well done IBM!
Finally some quality explanation, thank you.
Wow... amazing explanation with very well thought out, organized, coherent, and powerful delivery. Thank you
Thanks for the awesome feedback, Ali!
Excellent! perhaps the best DevOps explanation I've seen so far.
Excellent explanation!!!! It is clear and easy to unerstand.
Awesome summary! Thx
Thank you, I finally understood what a pipeline is.
You're welcome, we're glad you found it useful, Mateus! 👍
You're a great Teacher
Very good explaination, thank you!
Great video. Thank you!
Thank you so much very clear
Great explanation, thanks
Thanks for the explanation
good explanation. thank you
How is it Andrea, you are able to write in mirror image that way? Are you able to see some sort of monitor, or is this a special effect? Amazing!
Well actually we don't write backward. Here is a blog post we wrote that explains how we do it, with a photo. ibm.co/2LTPMjo
just flip the video lol
I was wondering this same thing.
Well explained!
nicely explained
Thanks so much for this tutorial.
DevOps seems like another term used as a Project manager, just in the Information Technology field of work. The bringing together of two departments to work together. The DevOps keeps the two cohesive.
great explanation
How was she able to write backwards using left hand ?
Hi there! We explain the magic trick in here: ibm.co/3ceN8Q0 😃
its a light board
Thanks IBM
Absolutely marvelous way to explain. However, I am still confused: if an organization adopts that, or by its nature a team or teams already are doing continuous integration naturally, why do they need a specialized 'devops' engineer? To do what? To tell them how it is supposed to be done if they don't know that yet? But teams can collaborate and just do it. All it takes is competent tech leads talking to competent IT folks. Why do you need a third 'DevOps' middleman?
cool video)
she sure has a pretty good tech. vocabulary, don't know what she said though !
Is Testing should have a separate stage in the Delivery Pipeline? Based on your pipeline it is under Build, right?
Hi Paul! Testing should be done early, and often. You are correct that testing should be a part of the Build phase, unit testing, that is. Typically, that is the first opportunity to validate a developer has working code in a shared development environment. Build can also be used to infuse linting, static analysis and test code coverage too. But don't let testing stop there...automate your integration, contract, API, performance and vulnerability scans too! --Andrea
Testing is everywhere! Before you code, run paper prototypes past end users for feedback. Test aggressively in the build (and the build of course provides the critical "does it compile" test). The deployment is likely to test environments before production where you'll do more testing. Finally, in production, you should be validating that the idea is delivering the results you thought it would. If not, pull the feature back out. Build and deploy might be the skeleton of your pipeline, but testing is the muscle.
@@ericminick1700 The Best explanation!!
What tech did she use to write on the screen??
Perfect
thank you in advance !
That lady's Excellent.
Thank you very much for watching and for the feedback, Ty!!!
nice jacket
Star everything!
Could you explain to me what is DataOps?
How do you people make these reverse videos, writing backwards?
Hey there! We shared some backstage "secrets" of our videos on the Community page, check it out here 👉

Hi, Do we require any coding/programming knowledge to become a devops engineer.....?
Yes. You need to know the fundamentals of programming, a couple of languages is very helpful as well as know many other softwares and how to use them properly.
Such as Docker, Kubernetes, Anisible, Terraform, Prometheus, Yaml, Git, Github, Jenkins, Json, Azure, AWS, Google Cloud etc etc........ Basically ANYTHING that has to do with Deployment....
Your job is only to Deploy, Secure and Maintain software for the enterprise.... You are not a network engineer or a software engineer, even though you know how to code.
DevOps is an extremely hard job position as you have to know MANY technologies. Its a lot of work..... Ill put it this way, DevOps engineers are pretty freaking smart people.... :)
But the job is very hard and it comes with an enormous amount of responsibility.

How long does it take to master backward writing???
Search on "lightboard videos".
Wow someone who can write backwards!
ool video)
sounds like business fluff for software engineers
