Better than the live action movie is not a very high bar to reach. Aang had better be the fun loving kid with a taste for extreme sports that wants to still be a kid like he was in the series. Thats what made him such a great character.

I wish the scar was more pronounced to😂 that was the first thing I said for weird reason. This is twice alresdy people think zukos scar is some little bruise on his eye. I don't get why they can't just fill it in more
I saw the majority of the 1st season as a kid but then I never got to see how it ended. I was really upset I couldn’t see more of it. Then some time later I just forgot about it. That was probably 2006 or 2007. I just finished the show a few days ago. I really hope the live action is great too cause this show was incredible
The way this video is narrated makes me cry. The thumbnail has appeared on my home page for a few days, apparently RUclips didn't give up and made me finally click on it today.
The biggest issue with Zuko is that he looks like he got punched in the eye really hard, instead of a burn. A burn would melt and tear away from this eyebrows and lashes. Creating bumpy ingrown hair during recovery.
@jonathandixon1305 Let's pretend it's a 2nd or 3rd degree burn then, which is more intense. "It will take at least three weeks for a third-degree burn to heal if it's small. Larger third-degree burns can take a couple of years to heal completely." "Depending on the depth of the wound, second-degree burns can take anywhere from one week to several months to heal." For scaring "Yes, a third-degree burn will likely cause a scar on your skin." "Scarring is possible with second-degree burns" So once he's been looking for what I think in the show was a year and he started his hunt with a cover on his eye he should have a healed scar by the time the show is starting.
Fingers crossed 🤞 it on the level of one piece. If not they better start the scene reshoots now!! and i’m for one hoping they leave azula the bad ass psychopath that she was in the animated series. Don’t water her down.
I saw the film twice. The first time, I dressed up as a Kyoshi warrior and went with my friends. We were all so naively excited, and then...stupor. We were all like, What did we just watch? The second time, I went by myself with a notebook to take notes on why it was so bad. I needed to know why, oh why?
The movie was my first experience with avatar, and it also meant I honestly couldn't understand what the big fuss was about with people saying avatar was supposed to be a good show, and meant I actually held off checking it out for years.
I just don't think Avatar needs to be in live action format. I don't think it WORKS in live action format. M.Nights horrible movie proved that much, bending does NOT translate well into live action. It's the same issue I have with the HTTYD franchise and that nine realms garbage. If they were gonna try and bring back the HTTYD stuff, then WHY didn't they make a series with Hiccup and Astrids kids? If they WANT to continue the ATLA world, why not make a series with Aang and Kataras kids growing up? Or fill in the plotholes left by fucking Legend of Korra.
For real that last airbender movie even when i was still too young i just felt betrayed that movie was soo bad i don't even remember if i ever watched the movie till the end
Azula looks nice, but is just one pic, we haven't see the actress going "full Azula mode" jet Zhao doesn't really look like the original, in the show he look way older. But yeah, he wasn't big after Book 1, so it can work
Creative differences with the ATLA creators is still the reddest of red flags. The thing that makes ATLA special is the extreme care they took in writing it, fleshing it out, and paying close attention to the world around them. There was a lot of thought and reasoning put into what martial arts were on display. If the live action had creative differences then I'm kind of worried what they want to show us.
Yes, but it is possible that they left because Nickelodeon suddenly changed their plans for the franchise and there were new projects to work on, so it is possible that this will be decent. Possible.
They also wrote Korra...which for the most part has been driven into the ground by most fans(not me I actually enjoyed it) On top of them just randomly having their own studio shortly after leaving....thats not an overnite thing paramount made them a better offer with creative control vs sharing profits with netflix and having to make compromises. Yall really need to do some damn research this face value shit aint it.
@@yournobody6487 Korra SMACKS of written by studio producer committee. The absolute proof is in the portrayal of Korra herself. She is 100% a Hollywood studio's version of a 'strong female lead' and the studio had no idea how to handle her by Season 2. "we can't have her grow in any significant way because she's already the perfect girlboss" What did they do? They just kept throwing more and more overpowered foes at her. Yeah, she eventually overcomes them, but there's no character growth. Just varying degrees of distance.
@@paulanderson771 If that were the case pretty sure mike and brian would have been vocal about it similar to how they were about the failure of a movie and their reasoning for leaving the netflix series...their silence on it kinda tells me they are just accepting that maybe they went the wrong direction with making korra that strong that early on. Granted as someone thats watched it multiple times thats also kinda bullshit she gets her ass handed to her over and over. Aang took MAYBE one good ass whooping the entire series and even that was debatable because azula didnt really over power him she outsmarted him when she "killed" him.
The problem with this live adaption compared to One Piece is that this already has the greatest moving pictures story and greatest voice acting of all time (the orginial like you said). So the acting and writing of this live action must be done with perfection to even start competing with the original. Then they also need to employ great real looking graphics that beats the stunning animated visuals of the original. What I'm saying is that the chance for dissapointment is overwelmingly high but we can always dream I suppose.
honestly the Avatar film wasn't good, but it also isn't terrible, it is definitely not the worst film i have ever seen, and i would just say that that film is just below average tbh, though, i would give it a 4 or 5 out of 10, yes the Earth bending scene is terrible, but the last few ending scenes really aren't that bad imo, then again maybe i have just seen more bad films then the average person has, however i haven't seen that many Netflix films so then again maybe i haven't seen that many bad films compared to people our age lol
The earlier rumor suggested that the movie would be set in modern times, possibly in the 2020s. The departure of the original creators didn't bode well. I'm not sure when they made the decision to return to the original show's concept, but I'm personally glad they chose this path rather than a modern-day setting.
I think one piece just showed us how important casting is for a LA adaptation. And I'm not even talking bout the looks but more so the characters, their synergy and (most importantly) if the actors truly understand their roles + the source material
The only thing that i will use to judge this Netflix show is earth bending...... I know I'm going to get a Netflix version of the story and I'm fully open to that but if they mess up earth bending again I'm done.
M. Night Shamalyan is secretly a genius. He gave the whole world a lesson in filmography by showing everyone what NOT to do when making a movie. The Last Airbender should be required viewing for everyone that wants to get into film making.
I think possibly the issue with m night directing avatar was that he is not a good blockbuster style director. It’s a different art form to direct small location psychological thriller story lines compared to a large scale blockbuster fantasy film. M night is known to be hit or miss, I love his newest film though. He is the only director who has made some of my favorite films of all time and some of my least favorite 😅
The issue is that I actually liked a lot of the designs and costumes for the Last Airbender... And, I know this might be a hot take... but the guy that played Iroh actually did a good job. If you told me that he acted so well that they changed Iroh to a Iranian man just because of his acting, I would buy it.... And that actor that played Zuko... he did the angst well.... Now, that doesn't change that the overall movie sucked... I mean, considering they spent so much time on it, having a small handful of good points is normal... I was able to note like 4....... But I hope they kept what worked... the costume designs, the teenage angst of Zuko, and the spirit of of the silly yet wise Iroh.... And have more than 3 or 4 things to enjoy about it...
aside from kitarah i didn't have a lot of problem with the acting in last airbender. much like jodie whittaker's run as the doctor the blame for these travesties lied solely at the feet of the writing and directing.
I believe some of the actors or writers have come forward and said that even tho it's netflix's season one it's gonna have very much a season 2 feel to it. So don't expect a full season 1 remake. We know the original creators left because of creative differences which is a red flag but we'll see how it goes with the casting and actors.
I watched the real life movie version as a birthday present from my mom when I was younger, I can't not express my disgust when seeing it. My mother whom never really watched any of the shows I watched except, Avatar the last Airbender, was also quite discussed. Then later I heard they where going to make a Netflix live action version, I felt my stomach turn again. I hope I'm wrong and it turns out alright, after all Avatar the last Airbender was the only good thing I had back then. After all to me it was more the just a show, while my mom and her boyfriend were fighting and my teachers and classmates were bullied me too kill myself. I would always draw back to that show, it's probably why I started to like Anime.
I think they have everything they need to pull this off & for it to be done correctly, also not ripping the show 1 for 1. While I know they can it's the fact that for Netflix the resources aren't the problem, the problem is if Netflix can't get out of its way long enough for them to make a good show & the execs not mess it all up.

netflix had me so hyped for live action adaptations to finally be good after one piece. then i watched what they did to yu yu hakusho. don't get me wrong, it is amazingly how well they put so mich into so few episodes with the budget they had, but who the hell thought it was a good idea to put so much content into so few eps should be drawn and quartered and there salary put into the budget for extras and effects.
Ive been so sceptical for this adaptation, Netflix has what we can call, a spotty resume. However, ive heard very little drama about it, and they just released One Piece to a standing ovation. so now id say i have a healthy scepticism.
i'll even grant that aside from pacing issues trying to cram multiple seasons into a few eps they did rather well with yu yu hakusho. this doesn't seem to have that issue at least as the season 1 runtime is longer than the originals. i'm pretty optimistic honestly
Really looking forward to this. Trying not get too hyped though, just in case of being disappointed. But yeah, hard to get any worse than that M.Night crap
Honestly as long as they don’t call him ong and there is no slow bending w excessive dance moves I’ll take it. Might not watch it more than once but it’ll b such a drastic improvement that I’d feel accomplished having done so.
@@johnpaullogan1365 when I say slow bending w excessive dance moves I mean the bending not matching the energy and effort put into it. I always flash back to the scene in the movie where the earth benders go through 6+ powerful feeling movements just for a large dirt clod to slowly move through the air. The discrepancy in the timing of the action and its results is jarring.
Netflix have had too many good shows cancelled, too many bad anime remakes, good cartoons cancelled, they blew it with marvel back in the day and got Punisher cancelled. Shows like 1899 and inside job had so much potential but we will never know. You know Netflix is dying when they have games on the platform. If they mess this up even a little there will be no Netflix after that. That means no season 2 of avatar or one piece, no season 5 of stranger things and no Wednesday.

But well honestly I expect nothing these days from Hollywood and I'm not really excited - when the show comes out I'll probably try the first episodes and see how it goes. But yeah it SHOULDN'T get any worse than that movie
I've seen a lot of controversy around Azula's actor, but I'm pretty sure Netflix just picked a bad frame. They did this with the live action One Piece too, they had a really bad shot of Shanks, but in the actual show he looks great.
Ok I just had an amazing idea… What if they did a live action version of the play at the end of the series and used the cast from the awful M. Night Shyamalan movie. That would probably be the best redemption ever if those actors owned how bad that movie was and then played those hilarious actors in the play. Although they wouldn’t be able to use Aang because that’s played by a female in the play but still.
M. Night was already doing bad movies leading up to the Last Airbender. He is just not good with big budget movies. It’s when he has a small budget, small setting and a few talented actors is when he shines.
Korra needs to be remade. they can keep almost everything, but they shouldn't kill off amon. Amon should be made the true villain of the series, always lurking in the background. Amon's journey should basically mirror Korra's journey in reverse. while korra, the avatar with ultimate power, gains growth in personal lessons like gaining humility learning human trust and stuff, Amon would constantly betray and lose humanity for more power. Amon should be like team rocket at the end of each season. escaping at the end but gaining more power. defeated each time but the lesson he learns is about power not humanity. In the flashbacks like normal, Amon took lessons of his father's defeat and sought to learn energy bending to take away bending because he saw the ability to take away bending as the ultimate power not psychic blood bending alone. he learns from defeats but only in the power aspect and seeking the very power that defeated him in a way. his father's defeat was the first defeat he learned from and gains energy bending. how he gained this knowledge and skill will be explored in future seasons. Season 1: Amon energy bends korra twice but gets injured chakra due to korra gaining the avatar state and a massive boost of power that overloads his chi circuits. he defeats korra in the final battle of season 1 to take away her bending like normal, but then also while taking away her air bending too, korra gains some humility lesson in abandoning her arrogance to unlock one of her chakras and unlocks the avatar state. He team rocket blasting off again escapes after realizing that the avatar state is just a brute force of chi that no bender can defeat even if they have energy bending to take away bending. Season 2: instead of korra's uncle becoming the dark avatar, Amon becomes the dark avatar. lurking in the shadows and killing her uncle just as he was about to gain the dark avatar ability. and uses a combination of energy bending to absorb her uncle's life chi to heal himself and merge the dark spirit to become the dark avatar and gain the dark avatar state. in the dark avatar state battle, he is overwhelmed by korra having a more versitile set of elements and knowledge/experience from past avatars bolstering her skills. so he retreats. He learns about how a newly born dark avatar is no match for a more experienced avatar with more past lives of experience to tap into. Korra probably learns some spiritual personal growth type thing that helped her gain more control of the avatar state and friendship power with her cousins. Season 3: Amon manipulates the dark lotus, dark lotus is full of benders with unique bending styles like lava earth, psychic exploding fire, psychic air to fly, and so on. he eventually at the end kills and absorbs the souls and bending of the dark lotus to gain their bending elements and experience. And like Zaheer, he gets defeated by the power of friendship with the air benders ganging up on him. Season 4: he raises an army with all of his manipulation in the background. he does die at the end in a similar way in the original series where he gets betrayed by those he betrayed. namely his brother turns a spirit cannon weapon on him and the spirits of those he devoured turn on him. he dies and that is the end of the series for the legend of korra. The thing that aang had was a consistent villain and growth. things were built upon. we didn't get some romance at season 1. it was slowly built upon. korra should be the same regardless of who she ends up with. the whole korra asami thing wasn't built on anything. it just randomly happened. if they were going to end with it, they needed to build it. they didn't do so. each korra season could have been saved for a plot for a new avatar. it was all so disconnected. nothing was really built. you can have an all powerful character, but you need to write their growth in a different way. where do you go if they have all the physical development. like a saitama or if goku started out in chapter 1 of dragon ball with ultra instinct super saiyan a million. where would you go if not a physical power growth. you do a spiritual gaining humanity growth. Korra should learn that having power isn't everything, an avatar needs to learn humanity to be a successful avatar which is why they dont start out with all of their bending the moment they are born. nor are they agelessly immortal. aang learned a form of this when he was in a coma in that one game after the season 2.
They already messed up./ Netflix apparently pissed off the original creators of Avatar The Last Airbender to leave the this show...the show they had been running. That gives me no confidence that this show will be good when the execs pissed off the original creators.
I'd like to add that it's totally ok that firebenders need actual fire to be able to use it. Why? Cuz it's actually a conceptual script error and also unfair that firebenders can create fire ... out of thin air ... while other benders need their element to be present to be able to use it. Don't you think so?

Being in denial is exactly how I felt as a kid coming out of the cinema after watching that what shall not be named. I even said it was good but deep down, I knew I only said that cuz my grandma paid for the tickets
I'm definitely excited and really hope it is good. One Piece and the Pictures do give me great hope!!
Better than the live action movie is not a very high bar to reach.
Aang had better be the fun loving kid with a taste for extreme sports that wants to still be a kid like he was in the series. Thats what made him such a great character.
It’s Sokka I need nailed. I want my meat loving sarcastic joking Southern Water tribe warrior with his trusty boomerang and tenacity to name people, groups, and creatures on the spot! I need him funny
I just rewatched the last airbender (NOT THE MOVIE) and I’m completely convinced that the live action won’t be able to be as half good as the original…It’s just not possible, everything in the animation is ironically so alive to a level that the live action just can’t be…
The cast looks so good... hard to believe how perfect they match for the roles, i hope they play the part as good as they look, especuially Azula looks perfect, a pretty princess on the outside, hope she nail the crazy inside!
At that point he's already been looking for the avatar for like over a year or something it would have healed for the most part
@@bobcarl8119 Then his “scar” would be gone too.
@@jonathandixon1305 That's not how permanent scaring works lol
@jonathandixon1305 Let's pretend it's a 2nd or 3rd degree burn then, which is more intense. "It will take at least three weeks for a third-degree burn to heal if it's small. Larger third-degree burns can take a couple of years to heal completely."
"Depending on the depth of the wound, second-degree burns can take anywhere from one week to several months to heal."
For scaring
"Yes, a third-degree burn will likely cause a scar on your skin."
"Scarring is possible with second-degree burns"
So once he's been looking for what I think in the show was a year and he started his hunt with a cover on his eye he should have a healed scar by the time the show is starting.
Fingers crossed 🤞 it on the level of one piece. If not they better start the scene reshoots now!!
and i’m for one hoping they leave azula the bad ass psychopath that she was in the animated series. Don’t water her down.
I'm really excited to see Azula's performance the most, but we probably won't get to see her going fully crazy until Book 2
One second look at the still and i instatly recognise the character.
i love seeing enthusiastic atla fans! we're gonna be alive, soon!
The recent resurgence the past few years have been awesome to see!
You really spoke out of my heart, nice piece :)
Loved this show - I binged it in college in like 3 days. Glad to see this video doing well!
I feel you dude. I got so crushed when I went to see the movie. It's a thousand times better than the movie so far.
For real that last airbender movie even when i was still too young i just felt betrayed that movie was soo bad i don't even remember if i ever watched the movie till the end
Azula looks nice, but is just one pic, we haven't see the actress going "full Azula mode" jet
Zhao doesn't really look like the original, in the show he look way older. But yeah, he wasn't big after Book 1, so it can work
Just here to claim my spot as subscriber 411 before you blow up big, great video! ❤
What I'm saying is that the chance for dissapointment is overwelmingly high but we can always dream I suppose.
honestly the Avatar film wasn't good, but it also isn't terrible, it is definitely not the worst film i have ever seen, and i would just say that that film is just below average tbh, though, i would give it a 4 or 5 out of 10, yes the Earth bending scene is terrible, but the last few ending scenes really aren't that bad imo, then again maybe i have just seen more bad films then the average person has, however i haven't seen that many Netflix films so then again maybe i haven't seen that many bad films compared to people our age lol
i mean i've seen rocky horror picture show so i agree it is not the worst movie ever made but i think it probably in the bottom 10%
After watching the M night movie. I finally understand what the cabbage guy felt like.
Nice! I like your insight. I also hope that this adaptation will make me feel joy again after the Shyamalan flop.
The earlier rumor suggested that the movie would be set in modern times, possibly in the 2020s. The departure of the original creators didn't bode well. I'm not sure when they made the decision to return to the original show's concept, but I'm personally glad they chose this path rather than a modern-day setting.
I think they released fake scripts/synopsis on purpose.
I don't think I can go through that pain again. Please don't suck.
Super excited! Let us wait till the end results, then we can make up our own minds. ❤
Every Friday night me and my sister would make a big bowl of ramen and watch Avatar.
I see a very bright future for this channel remember what i said
Thanks for the kind words!
M. Night Shamalyan is secretly a genius. He gave the whole world a lesson in filmography by showing everyone what NOT to do when making a movie. The Last Airbender should be required viewing for everyone that wants to get into film making.
You can see Mai and ty Lee behind azula
You deserve at least 1K subs. I know it’s uncomfortable, but sometimes you have to remind people to subscribe.
Will keep that in mind going forward
I did the same thing! I kept trying to find something good in every scene but I never could! It just got crappier and crappier
I've seen clips of the fighting and it looks pretty good
I believe some of the actors or writers have come forward and said that even tho it's netflix's season one it's gonna have very much a season 2 feel to it.
I too have ptsd from M night movie.
Why does the Azula set pic look like some sort of uncanny AI creation?? 🤖
That’s exactly what I’ve been saying
No bro im with you! I agree with you 1000 % but I didn't had to see it twice or 3 times to see if it was da real deal. I walked out of that theater soo disappointed. And well as we all know it was a disaster. But so happy when i heard 5 yrs ago! Crazy right??? That long 🤯 that Netflix was doing a live action series i was losing my mind. Finally what we all been waiting for!!! So yes 🙌🏻 Can't wait for this series to Finally drop! Like it cant disappoint. theres no way!!!!! They invested so much on this! It has to be GOT type of thing!!! So yes!! Lets pray this show will be a massive Hit. 🔥 💯
Hello I have subscribed to your RUclips channel
After seeing One Piece LA. I got high hopes for this as it seems very faithful to the show.
You NEED to watch Pantheon, its incredible writing and cast just put it right up there with Avatar, after episode 2 I was hooked
Dang that earth ending scene lol
THEY MADE JOHNNY GAT THE FIRELORD!
netflix had me so hyped for live action adaptations to finally be good after one piece. then i watched what they did to yu yu hakusho. don't get me wrong, it is amazingly how well they put so mich into so few episodes with the budget they had, but who the hell thought it was a good idea to put so much content into so few eps should be drawn and quartered and there salary put into the budget for extras and effects.
There is no movie in Ba Sing SE
Iroh looks like the ember island players version, I like it tho
Might not watch it more than once but it’ll b such a drastic improvement that I’d feel accomplished having done so.
they can have slow bending with dance moves. they had that a couple times inn the series but it doesn't make sense in combat.
What I’m sad about is the original creators aren’t working on the live action 💔😔 I love the cast of Iroh I see uncle iroh in Paul %100🥰 he’s an amazing actor love the show Kim’s convenience go watch it’s great🥰
Azula's costume looks like they're attempting to pass off leather as metal again. Both her breastplate and pauldrons are wrinkled....
The Zuko costume is pretty good, but his scar is on the wrong side.
i mean i agree it's weird they chose to change that but really, if that's our biggest complaint i'll be ecstatic
@johnpaullogan1365 they didn't I made a quote to the season 3 fire nation play episode where they got his scar wrong, but it went over everyone's head. XD
I am disappointed by Zukos scar so far. It looks like he has a blue eye not like his father burnt half his face off as a punishment. But well honestly I expect nothing these days from Hollywood and I'm not really excited - when the show comes out I'll probably try the first episodes and see how it goes. But yeah it SHOULDN'T get any worse than that movie
lighting and angle are not great in that shot honestly. i agree it looks a bit too light but i don't think it'll be as bad as this scene makes it look
4.05min I feel you Brother
Avatar the last Airbender show was amazing. The last of its kind
maybe if I go into it expecting another M Night I will be pleasantly surprised
You're explaining what i would call *CHILDHOOD TRAUMA* 1:29
I've seen a lot of controversy around Azula's actor, but I'm pretty sure Netflix just picked a bad frame. They did this with the live action One Piece too, they had a really bad shot of Shanks, but in the actual show he looks great.
Ok I just had an amazing idea… What if they did a live action version of the play at the end of the series and used the cast from the awful M. Night Shyamalan movie. That would probably be the best redemption ever if those actors owned how bad that movie was and then played those hilarious actors in the play. Although they wouldn’t be able to use Aang because that’s played by a female in the play but still.
if he wants the part they can change the play actor to be a 27 year old guy and i'd be fine with it.
0:09 Totally agree!
busy playing the new spider-man
I wish lol. Game looks so good
M. Night was already doing bad movies leading up to the Last Airbender. He is just not good with big budget movies. It’s when he has a small budget, small setting and a few talented actors is when he shines.
Netflex: hold my beer
The cast do look amazing, but I don't trust any big writers now days...
They probably going to skip a lot of episodes which I think is okay ( *cough* *cough* The Great Divide)
Look! It's the Great Divide. The biggest canyon in the Earth Kingdom!
Eh, let's keep flying.
They learned from one piece to the point their casting is amazing 🤧
Crazy that everyone is ignoring blurry Mai and Ty Lee behind Azula
I to this day am still BAFFLED that the name "Ang" was mispronounced in the M Night movie. Like, how the hell does that even HAPPEN??
Soak-a, EEroh. did noone have the guts to slap sense into m night
I mena, there is no way the can make something worse then the movie
Bro childhood's just had that "Medieval Villager" syndrome.
Da hell does that even mean
@@THEINFINITIVERSESAGA he thought of Shyamalan as his "childhood hero" not knowing he would be villain by spiting at his favorite stuff.
Bro keeps going back to the earth bending scene bruh we don’t talk about it 💀
I actually like Zhao I feel like the show could have did more with him
We don't talk about the movie.
There is no movie in Ba Sing Se
They already messed up./ Netflix apparently pissed off the original creators of Avatar The Last Airbender to leave the this show...the show they had been running. That gives me no confidence that this show will be good when the execs pissed off the original creators.
I'd like to add that it's totally ok that firebenders need actual fire to be able to use it.
Why? Cuz it's actually a conceptual script error and also unfair that firebenders can create fire ... out of thin air ... while other benders need their element to be present to be able to use it.
Don't you think so?
I have to point out, channel with 450 subs makes "pointless" video - gets 65k views - YT is wild.
