@@basicfrogginhuman6023 Same. I just got introduced to Brackeys when looking for Godot tutorials and his first one was amazingly easy to follow. I even deviated from what he did and improved on what I was making. Can't wait for the next one!
Super excited for the longer form content you described. As somebody who's completely new to programming I'm frequently stumped on how to solve my own problems or achieve certain outcomes. I look forward to seeing your process instead of just googling solutions!
I have been seeing a steam buddy on Godot engine a bunch pretty cool to see more progress on indie games for several people I know/ have played games with in the past. Best of luck to you and others who are just starting out with some really cool ideas.
Went through Brackey's first tutorial in Godot and ended up with an instant side scroller game. He's good at teaching. Godot seems pretty simple so far
I came across your plugin a month or so ago, and since that time I've been working together with a small team on a Disco Elysium style point-n-click narrative driven game featuring this plugin. While I'm still very much learning game development, the plugin has been a huge help making my role a little bit more manageable. Thanks for all of this, and I can't wait to see your tutorials! Cheers!
As per profitability- you are right, it is very hard (maybe impossible) to monetize a Godot addon, even though it does take time and effort to develop. It's not impossible, however. I have a Blender addon that works with Godot that is paid. I know @StayAtHomeDev has a Patreon or something similar. So monetization is possible, just need to be creative with it. Also apologies: I haven't finished the video yet so hopefully you don't address it after this point :)
You also raised a good point which I wish he touched on more in his video. If the premise of open source is to release it to the public for free how does the person making it support themselves? Wouldn't this be detrimental to the creative process if it can not be the sole focus of the person working on it?
This is where the Patronage model becomes important: in some cases, companies contribute to FOSS because they benefit from it. (Microsoft is one of the biggest contributors to Linux, strangely enough.) In the case of sole-developer creations, one way to make money is the Patronage model. Another is to sell software made with said engine.
the prcing doesn't phase me. You gotta be mega succesful to be impacted really and it's not much. Do you think when it comes to making quality games, which is better?
thanks for your comment! i'm trying to figure out which part of the video you are commenting on.. what did you mean "which is better?" between..... what and what? sorry for being confused haha.
DeveloperEzra on the tutorial train 🚂choo choo! I'm sure you'll do great, I'm sure you'll learn a lot by teaching and cultivate a community at the same time. A win-win for all!
I think it's supposed to be pronounced "God dot"... but I feel like "Godoh" is the cultured way to pronounce it, lol (I always called it "Godoh", but looking it up makes me think it's a reference where it is "God dot" like in some old rpgs)
that's .. what i thought too because the icon is a "robot" upon searching! apparently it's based on the french name which is pronounced "go-doh" "The name Godot is a boy's name . Samuel Beckett, inspired by the French surname Godeau, created the name Godot for his play, Waiting for Godot."
in fact! i'm so late... Brackey's released his first Godot tutorial already! ruclips.net/video/LOhfqjmasi0/видео.html
And it's a good long one with timestamps and visual explaining. :D
not just that, I already finished the tutorial and waiting for the second!

By leaving the "si" parameter in the link you allow Google to track you over the internet everywhere, you place said link.
As a forever noob (time and adhd) I love that more people are doing tutorials. Deck building sounds really cool so I can't wait to see those tuts.
Hopefully it will be fun to follow, learn, and watch me struggle!

I'm glad to hear! I hope my process and contents can be helpful and informative! Feel free to always ask clarifying questions!

It really is so cool to see all the new and creative works by indie community now!

Such a good starting point! I'm focusing my tutorial on more "how to discover answers and thought process of solving a problem" angle!
I subscribed. I'm still new to game dev, and I'm looking forward to learning more about Godot and game dev in general.
I hope you make the game of your dream!

It really is a mystery. I've since searched for answers and it really appears donation is a really big part

I hate reaction videos. You just played his content while adding almost nothing. Basically theft.
