  • Datacenter cooling systems maintain the ideal operating environment for sophisticated equipment that generates significant heat. Datacenters consume about three percent of the world's electricity combined. If not managed properly, the IT equipment will likely malfunction, incur expensive damages, and cause downtime.
As a valued and reliable partner to some of the most impactful building contractors in this niche, Bigge is regularly called upon to provide operated and maintained crane services for a variety of construction needs. Our contributions to this project are numerous and have included several pieces of equipment from our Northern California mobile crane fleet. Recently, our Manitowoc MLC300 Crawler Crane, having spent months on site, hoisted cooling components to the roof of this six-story structure in Santa Clara, California. The final chiller, weighing 130,000 pounds, was delivered to the jobsite and prepared for its placement in the array. The composition, construction, and weight distribution within the unit required a very careful approach. Working alongside our customer, Bigge's crew employed a seven spreader bar setup to ensure stability and prevent damage to the apparatus. The load was rigged and then lifted from its trailer, allowing the crane to be walked backward into proximity. The crane, configured with 137 feet of main boom and 118 feet of luffing jib, hoisted the unit to the precise location on the roof where it would come to rest. Bigge's best-in-class equipment and seasoned crews are unparalleled in providing lifting solutions across a myriad of applications.
