    TMJ can be corrected by a chiropractor who understands jaw movement. I had tinnitus for 10 days and I was certain it was TMJ related. My tinnitus was louder when I moved my jaw outward or to the left side. The tinnitus was in the right ear and at a very high pitch. I went to an ENT, and they did nothing. I found a chiropractor who did adjustments to my neck and back, but he never checked the jaw. Nothing changed. The next chiropractor looked at the jaw and found one side was sliding, the other was not. The side that was sliding was the side causing the tinnitus. She began adjusting the jaw and reduced the tinnitus substantially. She told me to eat only soft foods, take an anti-inflammatory, and use some specific essential oils on the treated spot to help reduce fluids and improve blood flow to the area. More treatments ahead, but the improvement is substantial after one treatment. For those who know it is jaw related, it is worth looking for a chiropractor who understands the jaw and how to adjust the jaw.

    Hey, for all looking for hope. Years ago I had tinnitus, it disappeared somehow, then about 10 months ago I had some weird experience with "thinking" I had a hearing loss incident. THis caused stress, which I still have, that brought my tinnitus back 4 months after stressing about the incident. It is toaly curable, I havent figure it out again, but I know it is if I can figure out my over arching problem.
    I also didnt mention, that my TMJ felt bad during the tinnitus times and now. but not during hte itme I didnt have it. I believe it is stress realated.

    I love your videos as they are always grounded in science and research. After going through the checklist I feel there is a great chance that my T is Somatic caused by TMJ. I have a working theory that goes a bit deeper that may interest you. I was on Anti - Depressants for 2 years, I came off cold turkey then after a week I had one day back on them, I woke up the next day with T. The relevance of this is that a major side effect of this particular medication (Mirtazapine / Remeron) and many other AD's is grinding of teeth and clenching of the jaw. Furthermore, these side effects are more intense when you first start taking the meds. I am going to look into this further and see if I can create more certainty around my T, why I have it and how I can help improve it and will add an update.

    Hi, I have gotten tinnitus, ear block fullness, blurred vision in the beginning of this year, and I couldn’t sneeze, and then my balance was off, and continue got dizziness. Every test MRI comes out clean. My neurologist diagnosed me as vestibular migraine and treated with Amytriptytyline. But my ears continues to hurt down below if I rub my fingers around to the neck, eventually my ENT told me to go TMJ. Meanwhile I was going to physical therapy (Spaulding branch) that corrected my balance issue and dizziness ( they applied chiropractic technique on my neck). All process took me 4 months to walk on my feet with total control of my balance. I went see Orthodontist TMJ specialist who provided my splinter two days ago. But my tinnitus does not seems to go away. Sometimes it is so loud or sometime it is very low. I do not have any hearing lost. I believe all this happened due to blow to my head both sides. Tinnitus is on my left side, but I had temporal / headache pains on right side and it is occur time to time. I just watched the therapy treatment. Thank you for all info that is very helpful, and you have exactly explained the muscle right below the ear and neck that can easily be hold with two fingers and it is large muscle that were pointed in the video that really hurts me, and it tells me that is the pressure point. I would definitely apply to reduced my tinnitus but wondering where I can get this professional help? I live in Boston MA. It would be better if I get the professionals to work on the muscles that needs to be. I do not like tinnitus that totally impacting my quality of life. Please help.

    Hi Dr Jay,
    Thanks for all the well explained information. It is really helpful.
    Do you believe or know if neck stretching can cause jaw injury or something like that which will cause tinnitus?
    I am experiencing tinnitus from past 2 months or so. I did go to an audiologist and my audio gram says hearings is in normal range with a little loss of hearing (10 db) in my left ear. One night I was sleeping on my side and awkwardly stretched my neck which suddenly started ringing in my right ear at the same moment. I have been asked by my dentist to wear a bite plane at night but it was 5 years ago and I am not using it now. I am not experiencing any kind of pain or so in my neck or jaw but the ringing is there more in left ear now than right.
    Please if you have time do provide what you think of my situation. I would really appreciate your help.
    Thank you in advance.

    Tinnitus increases when:
    - I clench down on my night guard
    - I yawn
    Tinnitus started after a blow to the head jaw ear. Concussion, whiplash and possible small hairline fracture of jaw on superficial area that did not affect function.
    Who do I ask my dentist to see? A TMJ Specialist? Who makes these ‘Mago Guards’ that help correct a crooked or imperfect bite?
    MAGO SPLINT THERAPY. Bioesthetic dentistry principles seek to restore natural jaw position, relieving muscle tension that often leads to a bite problem, jaw pain, headaches and other TMJ related symptoms. Doctors may recommend the use of a splint designed to reseat the jaw joints into a more natural position.
    Thanks!

    The tinnitus sound I get is the high pitch noise. I don't think I have hearing loss but I can hear the tinnitus while listening to people talk.
    I notice if I flex my neck muscles around closest to my ear area my tinnitus gets louder.
    If I clench the back of my teeth it gets louder.
    My jaw is double jointed (if that isn't normal) my left jaw makes cracking/popping noise when I widen it.

I myself have TMD, bruxism and an unbalanced bite (for years), I had NO TINNITUS, went to an orthodontist, and she did step 1 of giving my braces: two mini screws in the roof of my mouth (to act as "anchors" for the braces) and 4 rubber bands jammed between my upper 4 back teeth AND IT GAVE ME TINNITUS. I have tinnitus that intensified immensely after a car accident, in which I got a concussion. The neurologist sent me to a ENT who tested my hearing and said it was fine, but he thought I had TMJ issues. The ENT sent me to a TMJ specialist who I really did not like, he had his assistant make me a mouth guard (before he even examined me) that did nothing for tinnitus, but gave me jaw pain. He wants to randomly try different things, and I dont really like that approach. I have no other symptoms of TMJ, but I did your pressure evaluations described in the video and they all intensify my tinnitus. What do you suggest?

    I can move my jaw and make my tinnitus louder. I can stretch it forward and affect both ears, or forward and left and affect the right ear, and forward and right to affect the left ear. The sound is like crickets but when i do this there comes a more obvious high pitched tone and the volume is higher. Does this sound like im doing any of those muscles mentioned in the video? I tried the finger test but it either hasnt worked out for me or im doing it wrong.
    My ENT says my bilateral tinnitus (little worse in right ear) is likely from TMJ.
    The musculature in my face is uneven, and my bite is actually slightly askew (when i bite my bottom teeth are a little too far left)
    Theres a clicking when i open my mouth wide (left side) but no pain. But smetimes i get little headaches. I had one recently felt like it was obviously emanating fron my left TMJ. Hes given me antiobiotics muscle relacants and askes me to order a TMJ appliance, which is a mouthpiece i wear at night.
    There is no hearing loss from my audiology test, PTA, ST and Tympanometry all looked normal. I havent done any really loud things recently and ive been to rock concerts before amd been fine.
    My plan next is to see a dentist about my bite alignment.
    I realize im asking for a ridiculous diagnosis thru a youtube comment but do you think i can cure my tinnitus by fixing my TMJ?
    I know its a long shot, but i hope you reply, doctor

      Certainly seeing a dentist with a TMJ-focus is good decision. Predicting success is best done in response to the test on this video. Apart from that, we just treat the problem and hope the tinnitus gets better with the TMJ condition.

    Dear Doctor,
    Thank you for your video. I've had tinnitus for about 25 years, but during the past month or so, it has increased considerably.
    The only thing that's changed, as far as I can work out, is increased stress, antibiotic treatment for an infection ( not an ear infection btw). I do notice that my jaw has been cracking a lot lately too. Finally, I took some other prescription medication recently ( would rather not say what exactly ) that I have been taking for years. All of a sudden this same medication that had no side effects in the past, caused an extreme increase in tinnitus the last two times I took it. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    • @DrJayHobbs
      @DrJayHobbs  6 лет назад

      Well, the increased stress, the increased jaw dysfunction, and the antibiotics could certainly have added to your tinnitus. I can't know if your nonspecific medication is part of the cause, but the timing is certainly suggestive.
      I suggest that you complete the free Tinnitus Recovery score ( tinnitussynergy.com/tinnitus-recovery-score-part-1/ ) for some more insight into possible solutions for your case.

    This is really encouraging - thank you so much! One question: I am definitely a „TMJ type“ and my dental therapist suggested a dental splint. What is your opinion about these? I once tried an „aqualizer “ for just a couple of hours and my tinnitus got worse...so there is a connection, but I am scared to make it worse.

    • @DrJayHobbs
      @DrJayHobbs  4 года назад +1

      I am almost done with an analysis of splints for TMJ. For tinnitus or TMJ, generally, they are helpful if they cause you to clench LESS.
      For teeth health, they may be helpful even if you clench, to prevent tooth damage.
      To avoid creating new problems, it is important that it cover the entire length of the teeth, all the way to the tooth farthest back.
      I have tried the Aqualizer and spoken to the company about its use.
      This is the one I prefer: smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MECB4I3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
      They will even let you mail it to them to modify it (for free) for you if you need.

    But I also have jaw problems since then on the right side it doesn't hurt but when I open my mouth it clinches.

    Hello, i've tried almost every thing you reccomended. My tinnitus (only left ear) dissapered completly when i preformed the task, no rining at all. I've had problem with my leftside jaw before and gotten it ''fixed''. When i bit down, my left disk ''popped'' out and back in making my biting motion a bit weird. Insted of going straight down when biting my biting went a bit to the left and then straight again.
    I often have tinnitus in my LEFT EAR only, i've tested my hearing and scored really good. - But the test the doctor took, showed that i could ''sometimes'' have problem hearing people full sentences when in a crowded area, can this be caused by ''TMJ''? Can my ''hearing'' also get improved if i seek help for my TMJ? - Like i said, only in the left ear, and only problem with my ''left'' jaw!
    Thank you for your time =)! 21 years old, if that helps! Never had problem with my ''hearing'', in my teens or youth!

    • @DrJayHobbs

      Hi Norrum,
      Hearing difficulty can certainly be caused by tinnitus, and tinnitus can be caused by TMJ dysfunction. So, yes, your hearing can be improved by correcting TMJ in a way that improves your tinnitus. It doesn't reverse hearing loss from damaged hair cells, but it can help by reducing the extra noise tinnitus causes.

I could intensify my pulsatile tinnitus with most of those exercises in your video, but I do not suffer from aches, and pains, usual symptoms of TMJ. My pulsatile tinnitus was started by a massively excessive amount of press ups and probably also poor technique. hello Doctor, thank you for making this video! absolutely helpful to all of us suffering from T. just a question, when i open my mouth, apply force on the side of my neck, below chin and head, the sound doesn't amplify but reduces. is this also TMJ related? (oh and I've had crooked spine for about half of my life too)

    Late 30's and have had a loud high pitched ringing in my left ear and a much quieter high pitch in my right for about 6-10 months. No hearing loss that I'm aware of. I have lots of back issues, upper and lower, but mostly muscle, not bone or nerve. I just hurt my neck the last week and the left ear seems to have gotten louder. I am able to intensify the sound by clinching my jaw. The pitch seems to change also. I work around loud noises and they seem to intensify the sound also. I do wear hearing protection as much as I can. Is there anything you can tell me given the limited info I've provided?

    I got tinnitus a few months ago from an ear infection and I still hear it, but I only started to notice my TMJ a month or so after the ringing started. Is that normal? Ive never had any jaw problems prior to tinnitus and it seems to get stiff/achy of its own accord. I’ve also got scoliosis so I’m misaligned and so have always had a stiff back/neck etc. I’m having my hearing tested soon so will be interesting to see if my hearing is normal.

    I’m 14 and have tinnitus. Recently, I’ve been under a lot of stress and have woken up over the past week (twice) to my jaw being misaligned. It was sort of popping in and out of place and clicking audibly. However it did correct itself both times after a few minutes of opening and closing. Furthermore, I have had pain when I chew and my tinnitus is my left ear has gotten considerable worse. Side note: I have this odd thing where my tinnitus will become very loud for 30 seconds or so and then subdue (it really freaks me out) and had been happening much more frequently recently. Any tips on what I could do would be awesome.

    Hey Dr Jay, thanks for the video, I have a question.
    Do you think neck strengthening exercises have the potential to make tinitus worse?
    I've had mild Tinnitus as far back as I can remember but recently it seems to have gotten quite a lot worse. I tried to figure out what could be the cause of this and it seems like it may be directly correlated to various neck strengthening exercises I've been doing recently to correct my posture.
    I've only just come to this conclusion that this could be what is happening after watching your video, as this morning before working out my Tinitus was fairly mild and post-workout it was much louder.
    This theory make a lot of sense and I'd be interested to get your opinion on it. My tinitus also seems to be directly linked to my neck and jaw as I can adjust the tone and sound depending on how I position them quite significantly.
    Maybe doing this with added weight as I have been doing lately has exacerbated this.

    • @DrJayHobbs
      @DrJayHobbs  4 года назад +2

      That makes sense to me Jordan. I recommend neck strengthening often, but never weighted when I am dealing with a tinnitus patient. So, yes, I think, given the potential and your particular scenario, these exercises can make tinnitus worse.
      Neck therapy would likely be helpful.

      Those findings are not predictive from what we know at this time. So, yes, it is TMJ-related, but it would take other positive findings (as outlined in the video and description) to say if treatment might help your tinnitus.

    I'm having tinnitus right now, and it's occurring always during the exam periods or other stressful periods. It consists of different sounds. When I pull out my jaw in a forward motion, the frequency and volume go up. When I yawn, i can hear a sound in both ears (different sounds) much better (normally it's more on the background). The sounds change while yawning and are loudest on the point of maximum extension of the jaw. I also tried your video with the trigger points, but that didn't do anything. When I place both hands over my ears and then tap on the back of my head with my index fingers, the sound gets gradually louder (alot), after which it reaches a peak and starts gradually decreasing again, beneath the volume it's steady at. Then it goes back to the 'normal', steady volume. Also, the right side of my jaw makes a clicking noise when opening/closing and I can see it moving along. When I push my ears closed with my index fingers, I can hear it much better. I went to a doctor, but all he could say is that my hearing is perfectly fine (even extremely good). What should I make of this/what could be the best cure for my tinnitus?

      Hi Marty. I have 3 recommendations for you to know what to do. Since you have seen your doctor, and they have ruled out diseases needing drugs or surgery, our program should be helpful.
      1st: this video and the 2 that follow give some good explanations and more specific evaluations that help predict improvement from tinnitus: ruclips.net/video/35o9p_jQXTk/видео.html
      2nd: This is a bit of a secret, since I have not announced it to to the public. These 2 questionnaires let you know how likely the www.TinnitusSynergy.com program is to help you. The questionnaires are free:
      I strongly recommend filling out both of the questionnaires. If after completing these questionnaires, you have found some possible solutions, use the link to purchase the appropriate program.
      Healthy Brain Lifestyle for Tinnitus (HBL-t) - form.jotform.com/80168515842156 - to help us know how nourishing your brain environment is and how much phase 1 may help
      Muscle Care for Tinnitus (MC-t) - www.jotform.com/73217405790153 - to help us know the Irritation, Interference, and Characteristics of your tinnitus and how much phases 2 and 3 may help
      Tinnitus Synergy - Tinnitus Synergy purchase info. ( tinnitussynergy.com/pricing-purchase-options/ ) - This is the most sought-after, but only recommended if there is some hearing loss.
      Each of these programs work very well as a self-help tool or in combination with local professionals.

    Hi Doctor. I'm 26 and my tinnitus in my left ear started back in April. My hearing tests came back as normal and my bloodwork came back normal too. My ENT noticed my jaw clicks on the left side and mentioned possible TMJ, same side as my tinnitus. My tinnitus sound is like a bouncing sound, kind of like a mic adjusting frequencies? But I've noticed when I go to sleep and lie down with my left ear against a pillow I can sometimes 'calm' down the sound so it's more flat if i find the right angle to lie on. Does this sound like it's TMJ related tinnitus? The sound seems to change often when I move my jaw or neck.

    Surprising to see how responsive this doctor is so I’m going to ask one more question; if I move my jaw and my tinnitus gets louder does that have any indication of what caused it for instance if I got an ear infection but I can modulate the pitch does that mean there’s a different reasoning behind the cause?

    • @DrJayHobbs
      @DrJayHobbs  6 лет назад +1

      No. Moving one's jaw or neck or pressing on the muscles of the jaw or neck causes fluctuations in tinnitus for 60-80% of tinnitus sufferers. This is called "somatic modulation" and means you have "somatic" tinnitus, but it takes SPECIFIC TYPES of modulation to know what the cause and the solutions are. This video gives some of those specifics.
      I have simplified it a bit more here: www.tinnitussynergy.com/tinnitus-recovery-score-part-1/ .

I have tinnitus (it's changing ear-side) and sometimes have a suden feeling of fullness accompanied with a intisifation of the tinnitus (holds for 3-4 seconds) since one month and a half now and I'm thinking it's caused by my TMJ problems - jaw poping on both sides and rarely painfull. It wasn't always like this, it started with the left side and then got worse over time (I have this since months now). My Grandma told me, she also had poping in her jaw when she was title, she liked poping it but then it was gone. I'm thinking it will solve over time but right now im also looking for answers. I have been to a throat Nose Ear doctor and she tought it's because of my bruxism and prescribed me Magnesium and Vitamin-B-Complex for it but I haven't told about the poping in my jaw. PLS HELP 😬😅🤣(my tinnitus sound changes and sometimes gets louder) I also have bad habbits such as nail bitting and teeth clenching during the day and I think my overbite isn't helping the situation. When I open my mouth as much possible, the sound changes or gets less noisier and sometimes nothing changes. (Might because of my position)

    Hi Dr can you give me some advise please ?
    4 years ago I took a heavy blow to my ear/tmj area and I had a sudden onset of tinnitus that I still live with to this day.
    I always assumed it was ear damage, however I have no hearing loss and some unusual tmj symptoms, that is making me suspicious it could actually be tmj related.
    When I close my teeth together I have a "crunching" sound only on the side I have my tinnitus and I also have a small lump Infront of my ear canal/on my tmj, that feels like a ligament or something. It can be felt when my mouth is closed and disappears when I open my mouth. When I put my finger in my ear and open and close my mouth I feel like a dislocation feeling towards the area of the lump. It feels right next to my ear canal. None of this happens on my good side.
    I can make my tinnitus louder when I open my mouth wide.
    What could this lump be and could it be related my tinnitus ? Nobody seems to know, or seems to care if it's related to my tinnitus. I paid to see a private tmj "expert" that said he has no idea what it is and it does feel like a ligament.
    Any help Dr will mean a lot to me.
    Thanks

    • @DrJayHobbs
      @DrJayHobbs  4 года назад

      It seems that it may be some damage related to the injury and is located in or right around the joint. It could be a tear or bulging of the joint capsule. Certainly the physicians who evaluated you would be in the best position to diagnose that. If the doctors don't think it is a problem or related to your tinnitus, I would focus on just getting your TMJ as healthy as possible, naturally.

      @@DrJayHobbs I understand that you have good intentions and believe in your work to help others. It might work for some but I truly believe that these practices are dangerous. For example there are many people who have traumatic brain injuries and tinnitus from that or severe noise-induced tinnitus or possibly from antibiotics and so therefore the hearing systems are so absolutely delicate and fragile that everything that sound is seen as more trauma to the brain and ears. I speak from experience unfortunately. There are many of us who are tinnitus sufferers that everything makes it worse for us. Maybe this works with people with very mild tinnitus or intermittent tinnitus. I don't know. Most ents do not have enough knowledge about tinnitus or somatosensory tinnitus which is beyond hell. As you know any movement of the entire body amplifies triples or more the tinnitus for example eating, drinking, reading, walking, moving your head in any position, etc., everything makes it worse. Most ent's don't don't know what or how to treat. I don't believe they have sodium calcium potassium blockers yet developed for the treatment of tinnitus that might possibly help. To those reading this it is best to stay away from sodium calcium and potassium and any type of oils. I read that ebv or viruses gets in to trauma areas in body and this might also affect. Sound and all drugs are ototoxic and hurts the tinnitus sufferer.

      Thank you for your sincere and cordial reply. I do see patients in my office and hear stories of those around the world who have suffered severely and and had tinnitus constantly. I stress the importance of to recognizing that many people's tinnitus gets worse/spikes during, and perhaps for a day after, treatment, whether in-office or with self-help. For some people, that consideration is enough to avoid the therapy entirely. Perhaps for these people a medication will be developed that will provide some temporary relief so that they can engage in this more permanent correction.
      Soon I will be uploading some video testimonials of patients, primarily veterans, whose tinnitus has improved dramatically. I stress to them that they need to make it clear how chronic and life-altering there tinnitus was so that people will not discount there stories as "Aw, they don't know what REAL tinnitus is like."
      With regard to TBI and antibiotic- or noise-induced tinnitus, this is the reason for phases 1 (Healthy Brain Lifestyle) and phase 3 (Auditory Training). My training and experience with board certification in chiropractic neurology and my certification in functional medicine help me understand these aspects that you point out well.

My TMJ is pretty bad, even causing hearing loss from my left ear, and thats exactly the side it gets louder with 2 of the tests, it means its very likely to be TMJ related right?

      Hi Benjamin. For some reason, RUclips will not let me approve your comment on my video. The answer is that it is common that tinnitus worsens a bit(spikes) when the muscles are massaged. You have released many toxins sand irritated the nerves that are contributing to your tinnitus. That's a good sign, in that you now that the areas you are working on are contributing to your tinnitus. Relaxation, warm packs, and doing the TPT as described in my program can help reduce the spikes and reduce your baseline tinnitus, if you are a candidate. tinnitussynergy.com/tpt/

      Many people are able to help themselves with my program at www.TinnitusSynergy.com . I am a little uncomfortable with NMD ( www.tmj.org/site/page?pageId=239 ) if that page is reflective of their approach. I tend toward a dentist if a home-molded splint is inadequate or dental work is needed. For the muscular work, if self-help is inadequate, a PT is usually best, when properly trained.

    • @DrJayHobbs
      @DrJayHobbs  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Roman,
      Often the therapist that does good work on your neck can also do well on the jaw. They just need to know the details of how to apply their skills to the jaw. Additionally, you need to know the home therapy to continue the progress while away from their office.
      My Muscle Care for Tinnitus program is intended for these two purposes. You can give the therapist access to the information and you two apply the relevant parts. You can show it to them and ask if they are interested in doing a little study to help you with this condition in a way that has been shown to be effective. If not, ask for a referral to someone who might.
      Sometimes a very good massage therapist that likes working with jaw/TMJ is the best option, because of their price and willingness to learn.

Furthermore, when I move my jaw forward I get the grating sound again but only on the left ear. In addition, when I bend my neck my tinnitus grows and when I clench my teeth my tinnitus increases. Hi dr. 3 days after putting the braces on january, i get tinnitus. I had cold too. ENT and ortodontist said that braces cant't be cause of tinnitus. When i move jaw, buzzing is stronger. I fell jaw crackling when i open mouth. Is posible that after putting braces something hapened with my jaw? My english is bad. Sorry for that. There in my country (Bosnia and Herzegovina) all doctors i visited said that cause of tinnitus is something with brain or ear etc. My hear is fine. I had test. I had CT temporal bone 2 days ago. I don't have results yet. In my left ear (i hear noise around ear in head) buzzing 24 hours of day, sometimes in right ear i hear buzzing too. What i can do if it's problem with tmj? Braces aren't mobile. I cant't put that off.

      Well, in the past, we only knew of hearing loss and brain adaptation as the cause, but know we know that MANY people have tinnitus cause by neck, head, and jaw muscle irritation that feeds tinnitus-causing stimuli into the brain stem

      And, I should add, dental work, certainly to include putting on braces, often irritates jaw muscles. This is a common cause of irritation contributing to tinnitus. It is not the braces, but it can be the work it took to put them on.

    Hello Dr, I can lower my tinnitus by massaging my temporalis muscle. Is this a strong sign I should seek TMD treatment or is this a sign of an underlying problem.

    • @DrJayHobbs
      @DrJayHobbs  4 года назад +1

      That is a WONDERFUL sign. Good TMJ treatment should help, good massage would help, and stress reduction might help.

      Well, I don't know. If your teeth or jaw hurt or are inflamed because of this condition, this may help.

    Mine started by clenching of my rear teeth about three weeks ago. I wake up with it loud, but it lessens during the day. The clenching is pushing the rear tooth into the jaw making it louder.
    Is this treatable? Where would I begin and what type of practitioner would I would with?

    • @DrJayHobbs
      @DrJayHobbs  3 года назад

      If that's the case, you should see a dentist to see what can be done about the tooth. It seems that the clenching cause really needs to be addressed. We address this somewhat in the Healthy Brain Lifestyle in TinnitusSynergy.com

    This is kind of off topic but I had tmj on my right side and went 2 years before my dentist noticed it (I don’t know how considering they had an X-ray showing how off my right side was) and I went 3 months chewing gum everyday in school. I didn’t realize how serious tmj is so that stressed out my right side a lot but do you think it possibly caused problems to develop on my left side too that’s were I having the ringing and it started after a bad cold and ear infection.

    • @DrJayHobbs
      @DrJayHobbs  5 лет назад +1

      That's certainly possible. Since it is all one bone, dysfunctional movement of one side will certainly strain the other.

    Hey I used to have a underbite that was corrected with braces. A few weeks ago I started to hear the tinnitus. If I clench my teeth or open my jaw or push it forward I can hear it more. I also have headaches every now and then and I have ear aches. Is this TMJ?

      Dr Jay Hobbs of Synergy yeah from your video it sounded like I did, I visited a dentist and brought up the increased amount of intensity of tinnitus if I apply pressure to my jaw he said to wear a mouth guard and visit an orthodontist.
