    This makes the thought of that one house fly, living your house just as terrifying for you as it is for the poor insect that's trapped. This suddenly gives me the undying urge to clean my house from top to bottom twice over. Then, for good measure, make sure the windows are entirely insect proof 🤣

    Lovecraft looked down on everyone who wasn't old New England aristocrats. An asshole, but a brilliant asshole who spun one hell of a yarn. This ghost story kinda bugs me...

    JRR Tolkien was born in the city of Bloemfontein, South Africa. The name means flower fountain in Dutch or Afrikaans.

    I would have changed the N word to ‘locals’. No need to repeat ignorance even if it comes from the author.

      As sad as it is that’s about par for the time. Not everyone was like that but your talking early to mid 1900’s white man in academia. And keep in mind the time it was written. They were seen as “savage” and I mean. Eugenics came about then

    • @JaneFrieman
      @JaneFrieman Год назад

      @@timmybarry7207 I understand that the prejudice was more obvious then. For instance even Arthur Conan Doyle in one of his Sherlock Holmes stories referred to a Jewish person as a "Jew". Even the composer named Chopin said "Jew". Women were also seen as inferior.

      Lovecraft was exceptionally racist, even for his time. It does make his writing difficult to read.
