Really helpful explanation
Bro thank you for this now I can talk to my wife even better and she‘s teaching me too, how do I ask a question with the verb kozala (Do you have…) is it Ozali na … ? Or am I wrong
You're welcome.
"Do you" and "Are you" = OZALI NA or OZA NA (contracted form) then you add whatever you want to ask.
For example NDAKO = a house or home. If youwant to ask "Are you home?" = Ozali na ndako?
Are you alright? = OZALI MALAMU?

wait in the present continuous tense where did that "na" at the end come from. From your previous note of the tenses to conjugate the verb to have " kozalaka did not have a "na" at the end. Again I'm confused.
Mbote ba biso,
I'm confused ... if the past tense is "Azalaki na" when I'm conjugating shouldn't it be "na Azalaki na" did you omit the "a" in azalaki? if yes l missed that lesson. Please kosunga😊
Hi there,
Thanks for your question. Of course I'm here to help.
First of all sorry for the confusion that you might still have. If you haven't done it yet can you please watch the videos about the verbs to be and to have in Lingala?
Secondly, you should know that in Lingala the verbs to be and to have are the same (KOZALA). To distinguish them it will depend on the context that you use them. Look what comes after the verb. It will help you!
Third, in this video I DID NOT OMMIT anything that is how it should be. Also you should know that to conjugate verbs In Lingala the subject pronouns are always connected with the verb.
Example: NA (is a subject pronoun = I) + ZALAKI na (past tense of either verb to be or to have = had or was) + NDAKU (house/home).
NAZALAKI NA NDAKU means I was at home. OR I had a house.
Remember what I said earlier. It will depend on the context.
I hope that was helpful!
