For those wondering the measurements for Eric's recipe
400 g rice cake
eyeball the fish cake and sausages according to the screen (if you like to eat this much than add this much)
half a small brown onion
5 to 6 green onions
5 kimari (fried seaweed rolls)
some water = idk he kinda fills it half up
3.5 korean-spoons soy sauce
2-3 korean-spoons sugar (I will account a little more like 0.5 to 1 more korean-spoons)
2-3 korean-spoons gochujang
2 korean-spoons chili pepper
*note idk the actual measurement but korean spoons are different measurements to standard tsp hence I wrote korean spoons*
I feel like I'm just watching my mom cook and deciphering her recipes

@@aditiyadav918 I think it was Denise of secret number who gave the idea in one of the episodes of Eric's kpop daebak podcast! She suggested an idea of Eric starting a cooking show and he should call it Nam Noms short for Eric Nam Noms. So I think Eric actually took the idea and made it a reality!!

@@song5341 oh so much much more than that! Collard greens, peach cobbler, apple pies, string beans, fried chicken, Mac and cheese, mash potatoes, chocolate pound cakes, and so much more. So many more things than friend chicken. Each southern state has their own delicacies and ways to make certain things, you can’t go wrong honestly
Yes so much versatility and what you can make of the list is forever and we don't just take in classic southern we incorporate many other cultures and dry cooking too so we can be here for days talking about food. I'd love to see him do like a traditional sweet potato pie or neck bones collard greens even throw down on some southern style ribs, you could probably destroy some slow cooked freaking turkey wings I mean we got so much from homemade cornbread song homemade iron skillet cornbread and homemade biscuits southern style mac and cheese some old classic tomatoes and rice like I said you can go on all day, and we not going to even start on southern fusion good.

Nam Noms is back. Honestly this man cooks the way I do. I cook the same way, it's so hard to explain and measure. Hey but the effort counts. I like how he said it was good but he knew he could change it. Isn't that what we all do? Gotta say it did look tasty. Will definitely try it. For the next Nam Noms, my recommendation is Fajitas! Chicken or steak or both or shrimp.

if you wanna elevate the recipe:
instead of water use stock made with anchovy and kelp / dashi (makes a huge difference)
add garlic and cabbage (I also like to add a boiled egg)
top with mozza cheese
I want to try this so bad but I’m not super big on spice, i can only handle a little bit. Is there any way to make it less spicy but still flavorful or would you just water it down?
@@xmadi02x20 add some more sugar if you want but deffff ADD THE CHEESE. there’s nothing like shredded mozzarella to help cut down and balance korean spice!! also cheese ddeokbokki is soooo good 🤤🤤🤤
@@xmadi02x20 if you make it yourself, add waaaay less of the chili paste, no chili flakes at all and maybe use tomato paste instead for the color ☺️ I am also not super keen on spice (although it’s getting better) and I used to make a version with potato instead of rice cake (there are recipes on RUclipsr for that too) and I usually add Paprika. It’s definitely not as authentic that way but the more things I put in the less spicy it becomes for me personally

Tteok bokki is LIFE. I can't eat peppers, so I just cook the rice cakes in a tomato sauce (like the pre-made ones for pasta) and a spoonful of Ketchup to get it more tangy. It is HEAVEN.

i make a vegan version its so good. i use tofu "pouches?" i forgot what they were called , instead of fish cakes byt same texture. i make a at least 3-4 times every couple months. Since you lived in the south i wouldn't mind seeing you make some foods you ate growing up.
