Syria is at the heart of the Fertile Crescent. This film shows, for a visitor in the 1990’s Syria would surprise and delight, from it’s famous chocolates to alluring perfumes in the Souks. As well as in the exploration of sites and artefacts of the past. The Roman city of Palmyra had once been a vital staging post along the old Silk Route, carrying goods from the lands of the Orient to the Mediterranean coast and onto Europe. Esteemed in preserving old traditions, many a notable person made the intrepid journey to it’s shores, from T E Lawrence to Agatha Christie. Many people took advantage of the Syrians hospitality and graciousness.
