Tom Paris had his work cut out for him trying to stay in the Romulans' blind spot. I can also imagine the startled looks from the bridge crew when Janeway orders the tricobalt fired, alongside raised eyebrows from Tuvok and Seven, followed by a "Are you sure that is wise, Captain?" from Tuvok, and a "That seems... excessive," from Seven.
It was built to deal with the bloated pre-Dominion war galaxy class, not a ship built with raw power and speed like the intrepid class let alone plot armored protected op ship like Voyager who's damage is magically gone by the next episode even though their resources were supposedly really limited. Not even god itself could destroy canon Voyager with that type of plot armor. So What hope does that romulan ship have?
I'm pleasantly surprised by this. The combination of Voyager's weapons combined with maneuverability allow it to prevail against a D'deridex. It gives another example of how they were able to hold off the Borg at least temporarily (not to mention plot armor!).
@@paulrasmussen8953 Not the Intrepid class Vice Admiral William Ross had the Belerathon the Defiant would match a D'deridex and was faster and more manoeuvrable.
When you thought that Voyager was about to ram you... I was itching to say, "Time's up."😄 You were good in the first battle... that ship can't maneuver. Stay on top and all it had were its phasers. It's too bad that the core explosion took you out as well.
That was a cool one, really didn't think it would be so easy for Voyager. You don't think of it as a little pocket battleship like that. Well I think clearly the Neelix Shuttle needs to take on a Klingon Shuttle now..😜
In a real space battle, they wouldn't even be able to see each other. They'd be thousands of miles away, way beyond visual range. But it would be boring.
Would love to see a ‘what if’ battle consisting of Voyager, the Marquis Fighter, the Equinox fighting a Delta Quadrant enemy. Would also be great to include the Aeroshuttle, Equinox’s equivalent and the Delta Flyer. Would be an amazing all out battle!

I think this was pretty accurate. I agree that just a stock Intrepid class could be one D'deridex Warbird. I do agree too that with two nope no way it could handle two. I laughed when you blew up in Voyager after the Warbird was destroyed. Voyager still won though lol.
A request please. A sort of follow-on from your Romulan Warbird vs the Kazon fleet video. What if you did the Basics, Part 1 battle, Voyager vs the 4 Big Kazon warships as seen in the episode, but obviously without the Kazon living bomb going off. Not being crippled, Would Voyager actually win that battle?
Neelix mixed some Romulan ale in with his Better Than Coffee substitute, it's now actually a liquid instead of goo, and gave it to Captain Kathy instead of her usual Delta Quadrant blend. Hence why Katherine was so aggressive.
It shows how potent the Intrepid class is; at most it's a Cruiser (heavy cruiser at a push) design and it can go toe-to-toe with a D'deridex, which is the Romulan equivalent of a battleship/ship of the line. Sure it has to rely on manoeuvrability but that fact it can tank enough hits to get into advantageous positions is impressive.
😲Crikey Admiral.. That’s a very good point about voyager, a multi phasic scan should hopefully do the trick! I love how voyager had Borg upgrades, but you didn’t really see them. Thanks Steve🖖
Like most Romulan creations, the Warbird is designed for high burst damage then cloaking again. That sort of tactic doesn't do well against highly maneuverable targets so honestly I think it's just a bad matchup for the Warbird. The Defiant could probably also win for the same exact reasons.
It depends how advanced the cloak is on the warbird. Voyager was enhanced with borg astrometrix sensors which could actually scan through certain cloaks.
The D'Deredix is far more powerful in Star Trek Canon. If the war bird wanted to kill you, it would have approached to point blank range and decloaked and used its forward arc of weapons with devastating effect. You must fight like a Romulan because that is how they fought the Jemhadda when Sisco dragged the Romulans into the war against the Dominion.
00:59 it always bugs me that there's never power added to sensors. not so much here i guess because idk what is going on in this panel, but more power to sensors increases weapons accuracy. I think for either ship, if your family was onboard, you wouldn't risk the fight as it would be too close. Same goes for many of these match ups assuming it was real life situations. I think diplomacy would be a better option given how close they are in firepower.
If you really wanted to take advantage of Voyager's maneuverability, you would manually pilot the ship and make sure you're always facing the aft of the Warbird.
Let me know if you've already done this. Would running through various generations of klingon ships with Koayashi Maru rules starting with 3 doubling -1 if you win with different federation ships. Can the Voyager take out 17 TOS battle cruisers?
Voyager would be no match for the warbird. The ship was purposely written as very much less powerful than a Galaxy class - more dramatic tension. The entire show eventually lost its mind and somehow made a ship a ‘mary sue’.
Yeah the Intrepid class is far more agile, yet has powerful enough weapons and shields to overcome the warbird, if she manuevers out of the way of the forward arc of the Warbird - which wouldn't be difficult. The Intrepid class is much faster and more agile. Those type X phasers and type 6 photon torpedoes make swift work of most targets.
Hard to say. I don't think the warbird was built for manoverability. The new Remastered has new balancing. Particurly with bigger ships. The smaller ships can run circles around them. A bit like the mirror universe defiant vs worfs negh'var. Poor Garak 🤣
