- Sandra Sanchez (UAE/Spain) performing the kata Papuren against Kiyou Shimizu (Japan) performing the kata Chatanyara Kushanku in the FINALS of the Karate1 Premier League championships in Okinawa, Japan 2015. Shimizu won 5-0.
To be honest I felt that those judges weren't fair. Kiyou was good, no doubt, but overall Sandra was more powerful AND more sharp. Even if she lost, it shouldn't be a 5-0. Maybe a 3-2 would be better.
SX Harmony the judges judge individually, even if I might've looked like a 3-2, they were all judging the same kata after all, and all 5 thought Japan was better, even if just slightly
Ahh. It might have been that way. It's just that I myself have been through this before and to be honest the judges weren't fair towards me which was why I might have overlooked the point that they were doing the same Kate.

how the hell didn't Sanchez win? she was much more stronger, she had much better stability and also her technique was better. seems like Shimizu won because of she's Japanese...
Yeah, I think Sanchez should've won. She was like stronger and her kime, stability and technique were excellent. I also have the idea that Shimizu won because she's japanese.
I think there is no comparison in kata. Shimizu had less power than Sanchez. Her stand was sometimes unstable and her kime wasn't that good and a lil bit too fast.

Watching it back and fort, the difference in speed and preciseness between the two is almost funny to me.
Facts. The red one was still fast but compared to Shimizu it was nothing. But the precision was horrifying to see. The red kept on wobbling and there was not much control.

both are world class Karate-ka, and their kata are 1st rate. I believe Sanchez was graded down on her stance transitions. Many of her forward attacks from sanchin-dachi were telegraphed by upper-body movement. Some of her stability- particularly in retreating or backward movement was not perfect. Still, much better than the majority of her peers can perform this kata. Shimizu perhaps was fortunate to be able to perform Chatan Yara Kusanku - a technically more complex and difficult Kata than the former. A longer Kata with multiple, explosive and blindingly quick transitions - all exquisitely executed with varying 'ebb-and flow' pace. That is probably why the scoring was unanimous for blue. There is a reason why these 2 are the finalists; both fully deserve to be there.
5-0 are they crazy ? It doesn't matter, Sanchez got the last laugh by winning the gold.
Kyou goes too fast..some moves are not completly finished and her transitions are not always good. Having said that she has a good fighter spirit. But to me sandra was better and deserved to win

En la Karate1 Premier League Damian Quintero y ella compiten con clubs de ahí porque aquí no hay clubs que puedan financiarlo.
