WaresTheWolf Dude, that’s what doesn’t make sense to me, because people like you who make good and well written fanfics only get to like 10k views and that pisses me off because like stories that have bad dialogue and shitty writing get over 100k views and they get tons of exposure. @@BooksToAshes it's always been like that. When I used to write 14ish years ago, the only thing that got major attention was smutty fanfics. Which was fine because I loved writing those too, but still it felt like a real bummer that the actually creative content never got any traction. And that was across the board, there were very rarely any strictly original stories on the leader boards.

But from everyone's reaction and how he said "I wanted to surprise you" clearly shows it wasn't just a hug. Also, the creator comfired it was a kiss :D. Tho you should definitely watch it! It's not the best gay romance out their (personally believe Given was much better) but it's definitely worth your time!

If Victor and Yuri isn't canon then I'm taking that as it's completely normal to kiss your bros, give them "engagement" rings, pole dance with them, blow them air kisses and proposition to sleep with them. Good ol straight action between bros, just like it's supposed to be....

1.) In cannon it wasn’t a kiss, it had to be a hug per executive order from the network.
2.) In cannon they were not engagement rings but Victory Rings similar to Super bowl rings. They do something like this between players and coaches as well in soccer/football.
3.) That’s literally part of performative dance and is a part of the sport. Plus Yuri was drunk. People do dumb shit when they are drunk. I can link no less than 50 videos of straight men pole dancing in front of a large group of other straight men all induced by alcohol.
4.) Straight men can blow air kisses to other men. And again, give that Yuri is a performer, it’s pretty common to blow a commemorative kiss to the director/coach of your performance. Not to mention again, the loads of clips that I can show of straight boys making kissy faces to other straight boys to get a reaction or rise out of others. Very common.
5.) Straight men can also sleep in the vicinity of other men. This is not homosexual exclusive yet again. For one thing, it’s cheaper to share a bed than to get a twin bed suite which can get very expensive especially if you frequently travel…Y’know…Like athletes do. And in fact many athletes share beds with team mates or coaches, again to save room and money but also because it’s not a big deal to sleep with people of the same gender? Hell, I slept in the same bed with dozens of female friends during sleep overs. Never had feelings for a single one because sharing a bed was the point? In fact, if two girls did like eachother too much they made an effort to sleep apart as to not disturb other people! Sleeping in the same bed is not indicative of a relationship.
Additionally, this is Japanese culture where sharing a bath tube with another man completely naked is considered normal, but to us in western culture two men in full swim trunks sitting to close in a hot tub is considered a little gay. So from a cultural perspective, these things can literally be meaningless to the Japanese and wrongfully interpreted by us western folk (which is why two people who have lived in Japan for some time might be able to make a better judgement call on interpreting these scenes from a Japanese point of view).
So I side with Aki and Joey on this one. It’s probably not cannon despite a lot of people, even the creator, wanting it to be due to various practical limitations.
@@kimmiewise1044 Have you ever seen BL anime? Literally just filled with pretty boys that interact lovingly with each other. I'm not saying anyone who shares a bed become lovers, I mean if they are lovers they probably want to share a bed.
They also don't share a hotelroom with anyone else, if they wanted to actually save money they should get a room with two double beds and get four people in one room. I also doubt that they pay their own hotelroom, since all the athletes stay at the same hotel and there needs to be security to keep them seperate from the fans.
In my eyes let the boys love each other and don't write an essay about why they don't. The entire plotline is intertwined with their relationship. I don't think there would be this much focus on their intimate relationship if it was just a regular friendship type deal.
I mean if we compare it to Free iwatobi swim club, everyone ships the characters together even if there is very little actual intimate relations shared. They share beds but that is because they are in high school and therefore 4 boys in one room makes sense. But in reality they are all just good friends that swim together and they are all fairly young and no romantic interests are discussed.
Back to Yuri on ice, older dudes that spend every waking moment with each other even when they are not training. Exchanging rings, sharing beds for no reason except that they want to, the kiss which is absolutely a kiss why else would Viktor say " this was the only thing I knew would suprise you as much as you surprised me". If it was a hug that wouldn't really surprise anyone since they are already quite intimate with each other and Yuri even hugs every other competitior when Viktor's not there. Hugs aren't that special, kisses are though.
I'm not into arguing about anime boys, but there is an entire genre of anime about pretty boys loving other pretty boys....

In England we call it peach crumble
Apparently, the creator said that the relationship between Yuuri and Victor is left to be interpreted by the viewer. The show was made to show their relationship in a way that would show both friendship love between two people who support each other and also romantic love which is very subtle.
For example, the "kiss" scene was made in a way for you to interpret if it really was a kiss. And also the engagement scene which could be thought as a joke of Victor being quirky or it being real.
So yeah, that's that. I just read this somewhere and am not fully sure if it's real though.
