Many of the locks in France are totally automated , gates are closed and opened etc as boat approach then you operate the fill or empty with controls from your boat in the lock itself. The one is this video did not look automatic.

@Chris Van Bekkum You can actually see that the whole doors on the lower end of one lock are completely open at the same time as water is rushing in from what appears to be leaks on the upper doors. It's two locks in series where the doors between them are open.
They could have opened that lock a little further, maybe even created a tsunami that would get them through quicker. Looks like the looneys have took over the looney bin 😂
Love the guy in red standing with his foot tangled into the rope, these locks are a nightmare in the summer, queues galore and idiots who know nothing about the water, going way too fast along the canal, washing off the bank.

Le seul gâchis dans l'histoire c'est l'élévateur à rampe de fonséranes qui lui n'a jamais servi (l'engin bleue avec de grosses roues), construite dans les années 80 et qui n'a vu passer que quelques dizaines de bateau car c'était un échec technique et il y a eu l'effondrement du trafic de marchandise par voie navigable.
